After Divorce I Married a Tycoon-Chapter 36: Should She Ask Adrian Sutton for a Favor?
After returning from the Mercer family home,
Claire Mercer was completely out of sorts and feeling incredibly down. ๐๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ค๐ซ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐๐ข
She hadnโt expected divorcing Gavin Sinclair to be this difficult.
โDo I really have to do as the old Mrs. Sinclair said and just focus on how to properly fill my role as Young Madam Sinclair?โ
โIf I canโt fight it, should I just happily accept it?โ
No.
She had never been one to chase after money and power.
To her, they were nothing more than material possessions.
Besides, while the title of Young Madam Sinclair seemed glamorous on the surface,
the Sinclair family was just another version of the Mercer family.
She simply couldnโt spend the rest of her life locked in the Sinclair familyโs cage.
โIf all else fails... maybe I should ask Adrian Sutton for help?โ
After all, Adrian Sutton and Silas Rowan were childhood friends, and from the looks of it, they were still close.
The Rowan familyโs standing in Rhonia was on a level that even the Sinclairs couldnโt touch.
โIf I could get the Rowan familyโs help, wouldnโt the divorce be much easier?โ
The only question was whether Adrian Sutton would be willing to do her this favor.
And even if Adrian Sutton was willing to help her, what about Silas Rowan?
Claire Mercer was torn. Once again, she felt lost and helpless about her future.
โWhatever. I have to at least try.โ
โI donโt want my future to be buried in the Sinclair family home.โ
With that thought, Claire Mercer resolutely pulled out her phone and sent Adrian Sutton a message.
"Adrian Sutton, are you there?"
Adrian Sutton was ecstatic when he received the message.
โClaire actually messaged me first!โ
โThis is great!โ
His hands were practically shaking as he replied instantly.
"Yes, Miss Mercer."
Claire Mercer hesitated for a long while before finally typing out a few words.
"Itโs just... I wanted to ask you for a favor."
Adrian Sutton replied instantly again. "Of course. If itโs something I can help with, Iโd die before Iโd refuse."
Claire Mercer: โDie before heโd refuse?โ
โThereโs no need for that kind of talk.โ
"I want to divorce Gavin Sinclair."
Adrian Sutton replied, "I know."
โLooks like his Claire is dead set on divorcing Gavin Sinclair.โ
For him, this was the best news imaginable.
Claire Mercer: "But the Sinclairs wonโt agree."
"Iโve thought about taking him to court for the divorce, especially since he had an affair."
"But I canโt possibly fight against the Sinclair familyโs money and influence."
"Any lawyer I could find would be no match for theirs, so I doubt suing for divorce is a viable option."
"So I was wondering... could you possibly ask Silas Rowan for me..."
Adrian Sutton understood immediately.
"Are you hoping the Rowan family will put pressure on the Sinclairs, or that theyโll help you find a lawyer?"
Claire Mercer: "Either would be great. I just donโt know if Silas Rowan would be willing to help."
Adrian Sutton replied, "He shouldnโt refuse the chance to rescue an unhappy woman from a miserable marriage."
โSheโs going to be his cousinโs wife. How could he possibly refuse?โ
When Claire Mercer received Adrian Suttonโs message, a flame of hope was instantly rekindled in her heart.
"Iโll be counting on you, then."
โIf the Rowans are willing to step in...โ
โWhether itโs by pressuring the Sinclairs or helping me find a top-tier divorce lawyer...โ
โ...then thereโs hope for my divorce after all.โ
โBut would Silas Rowan really be willing to help a complete stranger like me?โ
The other day, he had seemed so cold and aloof, not at all approachable.
โAdrian Sutton is just his childhood friend. Would he really do him such a big favor?โ
Adrian Sutton quickly replied. "Itโs no trouble at all. Iโll do my best."
Claire Mercer: "Whether it works out or not, Iโm so grateful that youโre willing to help."
Adrian Sutton: "You donโt have to be so formal with me."
Claire Mercer thought for a moment. She felt a little bad that the very first time she was reaching out to him, it was to ask for a favor.
โIt was like being one of those friends who never keeps in touch, and then only calls when they need something.โ
โThe kind who doesnโt even drop a โlikeโ on a post when they donโt need help.โ
It just felt so transactional and left a bad taste in her mouth.
So, she sent Adrian Sutton another message.
"By the way, you mentioned you wanted to be a streamer. How are the preparations for that coming along?"
Adrian Sutton replied, "Everythingโs pretty much ready, Iโm just not great with the technical side of things."
"When are you planning to go live? I could help you figure it out."
"Letโs wait until after Iโve helped you sort out your divorce."
Claire Mercer: "So have you found a place to live yet?"
"I have. Iโm planning to move in in a few days."
"Okay, if you need a housewarming party, I can come with my two best friends."
โIf I went by myself, people might start gossiping if they found out.โ
โSince heโs willing to go to Silas Rowan for me, the least I can do is help with his housewarming when he moves.โ
โHeโs all alone in Rhonia, doesnโt know the city or many people. Itโs kind of sad, really.โ
Meanwhile, when Adrian Sutton saw Claire Mercerโs message, he was so excited he felt like he was about to explode with fireworks.
โClaire actually offered to come to my housewarming...โ
โDoes that mean Iโll get to eat her home cooking?โ
The more Adrian Sutton thought about it, the more excited he became. His heart was pounding so hard he thought it would leap out of his chest, and he could barely keep a grip on his phone.
"Thank you so much, Miss Mercer."
Claire Mercer: "Youโre welcome."
โIf Adrian Sutton can really help me get this divorce...โ
โ...then helping with a housewarming is the least I can do. Itโs nothing in comparison.โ
After ending the conversation with Claire Mercer, Adrian Sutton immediately called Silas Rowan.
Silas Rowan was still sore about how Adrian Sutton had ditched him at the Mercer familyโs banquet the other day.
So when he answered Adrianโs call, his voice was dripping with resentment.
"What do you want?"
"I need you to do me a favor."
"Hah!" Silas Rowan scoffed irritably.
"You have the nerve to ask me for a favor?"
Adrian Sutton paid no mind to his friendโs petty mood.
"Itโs a matter of my lifelong happiness."
Silas Rowan rolled his eyes on the other end of the phone.
"My own lifelong happiness isnโt even settled, so why on earth should I help with yours?"
"Fine." Adrian Sutton wasnโt annoyed. "Then Iโll just call my aunt and tell her youโre sabotaging my love life."
Those words gave Silas Rowan such a headache that he ground his back teeth.
"Fine. Tell me what you need."
Adrian Sutton gave Silas Rowan the gist of it. The more Silas listened, the deeper his frown became.
"All this, for such a trivial matter?"
Adrian Sutton said, "Itโs not convenient for me to get involved personally right now."
โIf I didnโt have to hide my identity from Claire, would I even need to be calling Silas?โ
โIf it werenโt such a troublesome and time-consuming process to crush the Sinclair family...โ
โ...I would have just made them disappear from Rhonia myself.โ
With his current power and wealth, dealing with a single Sinclair family would be childโs play.
โBut no matter. Neither the Sinclairs nor the Mercers will escape.โ
โOnce the dust settles with Claire, Iโll free up my hands and deal with them slowly.โ
โBut before that, I plan on playing a fun little game with them.โ
Silas Rowan: "Got it. Iโll come find you later."
He was truly at a loss for words when it came to Adrian Suttonโs lovesick brain.
โGoing to such lengths as hiding his identity just to chase after a woman.โ
โAnd if that wasnโt enough...โ
โ...the key was that he actually wanted to become some kind of internet streamer for Claire Mercerโs sake?โ
โHe just couldnโt understand it at all.โ
