After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 88: Who is Really Causing Trouble?
"You!" Zhang Dong immediately clenched his fists, his expression growing dark. This pretty boy isn’t just shameless, he’s got a foul mouth too. He’s clearly in need of a lesson!
He glared down menacingly at Shen Fanyun, trying to intimidate him. He wanted to make the man realize he had messed with the wrong person, hoping he would ultimately scurry over and apologize.
"Brother Kang, something’s off. Why did Zhang Dong go over there?"
"What’s Zhang Dong doing? They aren’t about to fight, are they?"
Zhong Kang’s friends finally noticed something was amiss. Seeing Zhang Dong poised to strike at any moment, they all rushed over.
"What’s going on? Looking for a fight?"
"Our crew aren’t pushovers. Before you make a move, you’d better size yourself up and see if you’re even qualified."
A group of men, all over 1.8 meters tall, completely blocked Shen Fanyun’s path in every direction.
Then, their leader, Zhong Kang, squeezed through the crowd.
He glanced disdainfully at Shen Fanyun and said flatly, "Buddy, we don’t go looking for trouble, but you seem to be spoiling for one. What’s the deal, you think we’re easy targets?"
"Tell you what. You apologize, and we’ll let this matter drop."
Su Xiyan wanted to speak but held her tongue. What does he mean, *we* started it?
However, Shen Fanyun spoke up first, chuckling. "One of your dogs ran over to my table. How am I the one starting trouble?"
"And I’m supposed to apologize to make this go away? Who do you think you are?"
Zhong Kang and Zhang Dong were both rendered speechless.
The crowd snapped out of their stupor. Shen Fanyun was sitting at his own table, chatting and laughing with Su Xiyan. He hadn’t moved an inch the entire time. Accusing him of starting trouble was a completely baseless accusation. It was obvious that Zhang Dong had come looking for trouble himself!
"You!" Zhong Kang was at a loss for words, unable to think of a retort.
Zhang Dong clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "Why waste words on him? Just beat him up."
"Buddy, we’re not ganging up on you, but your words are way too harsh. You brought this on yourself," another one of Zhong Kang’s friends chimed in, pointing a finger at Shen Fanyun.
Shen Fanyun replied breezily, "I was enjoying my drink when this big lug over here singled me out and demanded I come over to make a toast. So, I have to ask... who exactly are you people? Are you some famous figures in Hangcheng City? Or perhaps some highly respected tycoons?"
"You’re just a bunch of small fry, so what’s with all the drama? You’re going to beat me up just because I won’t propose a toast? Do you really think you’re that important?"
Zhong Kang and the rest of his group fell silent.
No one had expected Shen Fanyun’s tongue to be so sharp. With just a few sentences, he had backed Zhong Kang’s group into a corner, leaving them speechless. Their faces burned as if they had just been slapped.
Zhong Kang changed his target, turning to Su Xiyan. "Xiyan, aren’t you going to talk some sense into him?"
"What kind of friend is this? His mouth is so foul, I’m worried he’ll be a bad influence on you!"
To his surprise, however, Su Xiyan gave him no face whatsoever. "Isn’t it your ’good friend’ who started being a jackass?"
"And you, Zhong Kang, you’re no better. You came over here demanding an apology without even figuring out what happened, all while acting like you’re so magnanimous. You’re disgusting."
She was already in a bad mood, hoping to just have a drink with Shen Fanyun. Zhong Kang’s sudden intrusion had sent her spirits plummeting to rock bottom. The fact that she hadn’t already exploded showed incredible restraint. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Zhong Kang was once again speechless. He’d really gone and offended Su Xiyan now.
They had known each other for years, and this was the first time Su Xiyan had ever called him out so harshly. Being rebuked so severely by the girl he loved, Zhong Kang felt the composure draining from his face.
"Enough of this crap! I’m going to beat the hell out of you today!"
The ever-impatient Zhang Dong finally snapped. He clenched his sandbag-sized fist and brought it smashing down toward Shen Fanyun. The punch was packed with so much force that it whistled through the air.
Yet, facing this lethal blow, Shen Fanyun remained seated, perfectly still. He simply reached out and caught Zhang Dong’s fist in his hand.
BOOM!
A muffled impact echoed. Zhang Dong sneered inwardly. Is this guy an idiot? My punch is packed with force. No ordinary person could take it head-on, let alone some pretty boy who looks like he couldn’t even truss a chicken. And he wants to meet my fist with his bare hand? He’s courting death!
"It’s not good for a young man to be so hot-headed," Shen Fanyun’s cold voice drifted into his ear. Before Zhang Dong could respond, a wave of excruciating pain shot through him, making his body twist like a pretzel. In the next second, the entire area fell deathly silent.
Zhong Kang’s eyes widened in horror as he watched Zhang Dong’s fist begin to deform within Shen Fanyun’s grip. It was as if Shen Fanyun were squeezing a ball of cotton. With just a slight increase in pressure, Zhang Dong’s bones, skin, and knuckles were crushed and mangled on the spot.
"Aaaargh!" Zhang Dong roared, his voice hoarse with pain as his contorted body collapsed to its knees. Beads of sweat poured down his forehead.
"Be more careful next time," Shen Fanyun said, pulling back his right hand.
Zhang Dong whimpered and looked down, his mind going numb. His fist had been crushed into a pulp of flesh. A literal pulp of flesh. His fingers and knuckles were now a single, mangled mass.
Staring in disbelief with bulging eyes, Zhang Dong’s mind went completely blank. He couldn’t accept it. How could his hand be crippled just like that? This pretty boy... he’s this strong?
With a collective sharp intake of breath, Zhong Kang and his friends retreated in unison. They stared at Shen Fanyun as if he were a demon.
Shen Fanyun asked Zhong Kang lightly, "So, do you still want that apology?"
Zhong Kang’s heart was pounding wildly. However, with so many spectators watching with interest, backing down now would be a total loss of face. Moreover, Su Xiyan, the girl he loved, was right there. He absolutely could not bow his head!
"You... You’ve really stirred up trouble now! Do you have any idea whose turf this is?"
"To actually cause a scene in here... Heh. Aren’t you just slapping the bar’s owner in the face?" Zhong Kang reacted quickly. First, he accused Shen Fanyun of acting recklessly, then he tried to frame him by claiming he was provoking the bar’s owner.
"Oh?" Shen Fanyun scoffed. What a coward. All he knows is how to use other people’s power. He’s useless on his own. Weak, yet loves to pick fights. A total good-for-nothing.
Hoping to intimidate Shen Fanyun into a panic, Zhong Kang roared, "Do you even know who owns this bar?"
Shen Fanyun calmly sipped his drink, looking as if he couldn’t be bothered to deal with Zhong Kang.
"The owner of this bar is Wang Erhu, Wang Laohu’s own brother! You... you really aren’t afraid to die, are you?!"
This statement made Su Xiyan’s frown deepen. She felt a physical revulsion at the very mention of Wang Laohu’s name. The bar owner is actually Wang Laohu’s younger brother?
