After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 27: Please Mind Your Foul Mouth!
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Su Xiyang felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles.
Shen Fanyun really does just as he pleases. His actions and thoughts are utterly unpredictable.
Su Xiyang had assumed the dish would be served at her grandfather’s table, but to her surprise, Shen Fanyun made this move instead.
Meanwhile, Old Master Su, who had stood up with good intentions to receive the dish with a joyful look on his face, had now completely lost face in front of the many family elders. He couldn’t smile anymore.
"Hmph, what is the meaning of this?" Old Master Su snorted heavily, his face stern, his eyes burning with barely suppressed anger.
Su Ziye chimed in with a self-righteous rebuke, "Grandpa is the main guest today! By doing this, you’re clearly disrespecting him. Do you have any idea what that implies?"
Chen Feng, sitting nearby, felt a wave of secondhand embarrassment.
Shen Fanyun couldn’t be bothered to deal with them. He opened the soup tureen in front of Su Xiyang and forcibly fed her a few spoonfuls. Su Xiyang was stunned by his actions.
"This is good stuff, don’t waste it," he said. "Ingredients from the extreme cold are especially rare. You need the perfect alignment of timing, location, and people just to acquire them."
Because the ingredients were so precious and the portion so small, Su Xiyang had no time to refuse before the tureen was empty.
However, the ingredients were truly exquisite; a few mouthfuls left her wanting more. Having no other choice, Su Xiyang could only cover her mouth gently, chewing slowly to savor the flavor.
Will I ever be able to taste this again in my lifetime?
Shen Fanyun let go of Su Xiyang. He casually picked up a wet nap from the table and leisurely wiped the corners of his mouth. He was clearly very satisfied with the meal.
"Hey, I’m talking to you! Are you deaf?" Su Ziye seethed, seizing the opportunity to cause a scene. She slammed her hand on the table loudly, determined to make Shen Fanyun aware of her fury. "Is there any point to this? Do you even know what respect is? Do you think a man of my grandfather’s age doesn’t deserve your respect?"
"Respect?" Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn’t respect be mutual?"
The implication was clear. Su Ziye understood what he meant, and Old Master Su knew it just as well.
From our very first meeting, Old Master Su put on airs, refusing to take me seriously. I never provoked him, yet he constantly belittled me. Just another old fossil throwing his weight around because of his age. Besides, I don’t bother those who don’t bother me. Given his behavior, ignoring him is already letting him off easy. And he still expects me to respect someone like that? In his dreams!
"You!" Su Ziye choked on her words. After a pause, she stubbornly argued, "Grandpa is an old man, after all. Even if he’s not fond of you, you should be more understanding. Besides, respecting your elders is a matter of upbringing!"
"Upbringing?" Shen Fanyun scoffed, a cold sound that sent a chill down Su Ziye’s spine, making her afraid to meet his gaze.
In truth, both Su Ziye and Old Master Su were well aware that when it came to upbringing, they were the ones who lacked it most.
They have no class themselves, yet they take the moral high ground and demand it from others... I don’t care if that kind of shameless demand works on other people. To me, it’s bullshit.
"I’m finished. Enjoy the rest of your meal," Shen Fanyun said as he stood up.
The manager, who had been waiting at the doorway, heard Shen Fanyun move and immediately pushed the door open to enter.
"You’re not allowed to leave! You must apologize today, and if Grandpa doesn’t forgive you, don’t think you can just walk away from this!" Su Ziye’s voice shot up an octave.
Shen Fanyun glanced at her indifferently. "I hope you can still talk this tough the next time we meet."
"Mr. Shen, your presidential suite has been kept available for you. It was just cleaned this morning," the manager said with a smile. "Shall I show you to your room to rest now?"
Since he was already at Yunxiao, Shen Fanyun saw no reason to travel further, especially since a suite was permanently reserved for him. He would naturally take the most convenient option.
Seeing Shen Fanyun’s lazy, indifferent attitude, Su Ziye grew even more infuriated. She was just about to speak again when the manager’s words made her freeze.
The presidential suite? This guy booked the presidential suite at the Yunxiao Hotel? He’s staying here?
Old Master Su’s grim face twitched. He wasn’t so old as to be senile. He had heard every single word the manager said.
The rest of the Su family members, including Chen Feng, could only look at each other in bewilderment.
Who... who is this guy?
"From now on, remove all the high-end calligraphy and paintings from the hotel corridors. They’re superficial and meaningless," Shen Fanyun instructed the manager as he walked out. "If you’re going to run a business, run it properly. There’s no need to stratify the guests. Open it to the public. People eat out for the lively, communal atmosphere, not for pretentious style."
After Shen Fanyun left, the private room fell silent.
Su Ziye, who had been so high and mighty and determined to pick a fight, now sank back into her seat like a deflated balloon, her mind heavy with thoughts.
Chen Feng felt a lingering fear.
So Shen Fanyun is a big deal? It’s a good thing this was just a verbal dispute. If we had done something more, would it have brought ruin upon the Chen Family?
He drew in a sharp, cold breath, slowly regaining his composure.
But on second thought, he was still filled with doubt. Since when did Hangcheng City have such a formidable young man? He walks into the Yunxiao Hotel like he owns the place!
"So, are we still eating?" Chen Feng asked Old Master Su, looking somewhat awkward.
Old Master Su sullenly drank his wine, ignoring the other senior Su family members and Chen Feng. After a long silence, he finally looked at Su Xiyang. "Who exactly is he?"
"Ah!" Startled by being singled out, Su Xiyang tensed up before answering honestly, "I... I don’t know him very well, but... but he’s certainly no simple character!"
"Hmph. Some people have all the luck," Su Ziye sneered. "You just rejected Young Master Wang, and now a man like this is after you. Su Xiyang, is that cold, aloof face of yours just a hypocritical mask for show? And in private, you have your little tricks? Like, are you so good in bed that men can’t bear to leave you? Otherwise, what makes you so special?"
Normally, Su Xiyang would be both angry and helpless against Su Ziye’s taunts. But today, she responded with an uncharacteristic, faint smile. "Oh? Perhaps I should ask Fanyun to come back. You can ask him yourself why he’s taken an interest in me."
At these words, the color drained from Su Ziye’s face. Bullying Su Xiyang was one thing, but facing Shen Fanyun, she began to lose her nerve.
"Fanyun was right," Su Xiyang reminded her. "Your mouth will get you into trouble sooner or later."
Su Ziye clenched her wine glass, fuming but not daring to speak. She was genuinely afraid that Su Xiyang would actually call Shen Fanyun back down, especially since he was staying just upstairs.
