After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 208: Trust me, you will undoubtedly die today!
BANG!
Zhao Jian stomped down. Hong Tao felt his head explode as he struggled with both hands, incessantly trying to get up. HISS! He sucked in a sharp breath. The pain was so intense he felt as if his organs had been completely rearranged by that single stomp. Zhao Jian was impassive, stomping down again and again like an emotionless, silent robot. Blood seeped across the floor, its pungent, metallic smell filling the hospital room. Kneeling nearby, Chen Su was almost scared senseless by the brutal scene. In just a few minutes, Hong Tao was barely recognizable as human.
If not for a bone-deep hatred, how could anyone be so vicious? When she recalled what she and Hong Tao had done recently, even the word "unconscionable" felt like an understatement. A wave of panic washed over her. Hong Tao’s end will be my own. It’s just a matter of who’s first.
"Damn it, you piece of trash, stop!" Hong Tao bellowed furiously at Zhao Jian. "Do you have any idea who my father is? If anything happens to me today, you... you won’t escape the death penalty!"
Zhao Jian couldn’t have cared less. He stomped on Hong Tao’s right hand, grinding and crushing it under his heel until Hong Tao winced in agony. "I’m returning all the humiliation you gave me that day," Zhao Jian said coldly. "They say what goes around comes around. Turns out it’s true. How does it feel now, Hong Tao? Is it comfortable? Are you enjoying it?"
If he hadn’t been clinging to life, unwilling to abandon his aging parents... if his good brother hadn’t shown up to get justice for him... Zhao Jian knew he would have died filled with regret. But fate had favored him. He hadn’t died. And now, he was getting his revenge. The satisfaction was indescribable.
"Stop!" Hong Tao roared. If this torment continued, he would undoubtedly die today.
An idea sparked in the mind of the man with the wild blond hair. His gaze fixed on Chen Su, who was still kneeling nearby. His family’s status was a step below Chen Su’s; she was from a truly prestigious family. Right now, Zhao Jian was forcing her to kneel. If the Chen Family found out, they would be absolutely furious. For a great family, this was an unforgivable humiliation, a desecration of their honor! Besides, hadn’t Chen Su always bragged that her grandfather, the patriarch of the Chen Family, doted on her the most? He indulged her every whim since childhood and had never laid a hand on her, treating her as if she were made of glass.
"Su Su! Su Su!" Hong Tao urged impatiently. "Quick, call your grandfather! Get him involved! Have him stand up for us! I’m going to make sure this little bastard Zhao Jian dies today!" He was afraid Chen Su was too shocked by the sudden turn of events to remember she had a powerful grandfather. "Once Old Master Chen steps in, I refuse to believe this little punk will dare to act so arrogantly! What are you waiting for? Call your grandfather! Are you stupid? You have such a powerful background and you don’t even know how to use it? All you can do is kneel and cry? Damn it!"
At that moment, Hong Tao felt like he was grasping his last lifeline, and a glimmer of hope flickered in his eyes. His confidence slowly returned. What’s a loser like Zhao Jian? The Chen Family could crush him for sport. Is this Chen Su really that naive? She has all this power behind her and doesn’t know how to use it? Has she been scared stupid?
"Su Su!" Hong Tao roared, his voice nearly cracking with desperation.
Chen Su kept her head down and remained silent, acting as if she hadn’t heard a single word. Kneeling beside her, Old Master Chen couldn’t watch any longer. He’d never met this troublemaker before, and the young man had certainly never met him.
"There’s no need to rush Su Su. I’m right here," Old Master Chen said, giving the blood-soaked Hong Tao a strange look.
Hong Tao was utterly baffled. "Old... Old Master Chen? You?" His eyes widened as he stared at the old man who was also kneeling on the ground. His mind couldn’t process what he was seeing. What in the world is going on? The patriarch of the prestigious Chen Family is here... kneeling so docilely and wretchedly before this loser, Zhao Jian?
Old Master Chen’s expression was unnatural. For someone of his high status to end up kneeling here... he was jeopardizing the reputation he’d built over a lifetime.
HISS! A chill shot up Hong Tao’s spine. His blood-streaked face froze, then twisted, finally settling into an expression that was somewhere between a sob and a laugh. He had been counting on Chen Su to make a single phone call, to summon Old Master Chen to come and put this loser Zhao Jian in his place. But as it turned out, Old Master Chen was in the exact same predicament as him. Who knew how long this old man had been kneeling here? The patriarch of a great family had been reduced to this, with only the right to kneel off to the side?
Did Zhao Jian find a backer? Otherwise, why would Old Master Chen be in such a sorry state, forced to kneel before someone so young? Hong Tao’s head snapped toward Shen Fanyun, who was sitting near the door. Was it him? Did Zhao Jian really have such a powerful ally that even Old Master Chen’s presence was useless? It was over. It was completely and utterly over. If even Old Master Chen was helpless, what could a minor troublemaker like him possibly do?
"Brother... Brother Zhao! I was wrong! I know I was wrong!" Hong Tao’s eyes darted around, all his previous arrogance vanished. He scrambled forward and hugged Zhao Jian’s leg, forcing a fawning smile. "Brother Zhao, it’s my fault! All my fault! This was all Chen Su’s idea! She instigated everything! Every injustice has a perpetrator. If you want revenge, you should go after her! I was just helping her out!"
"Oh?" Zhao Jian stared coldly down at him.
Hong Tao tried to muster a smile, but before he could nod, Zhao Jian’s hand whipped across his face. The slap sent him sprawling back onto the floor, a fresh pool of blood soaking the tile beneath him.
COUGH. COUGH. Hong Tao coughed up mouthfuls of blood, gasping for air.
Shen Fanyun waved a hand dismissively. "This is a hospital. That’s enough. Take it outside." There were, after all, other patients trying to rest. All this fighting and splattering blood everywhere could frighten them.
"Brother Zhao... Brother Zhao, this really has nothing to do with me!" Hong Tao wailed, his voice thick with terror and panic.
Ignoring him, Zhao Jian grabbed a fistful of Hong Tao’s hair and dragged him out of the room like a dead dog, leaving a stark red smear on the floor.
HISS. Chen Su and Old Master Chen exchanged a glance, a shared sense of dread between them. Having lived lives of comfort, they were unaccustomed to such bloody scenes.
Shen Fanyun gestured toward the door. "You two can go out as well." He looked at Chen Su, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes playing on his lips. "Especially you. Don’t keep my brother Zhao Jian waiting too long."
Chen Su was left speechless.
