Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 214: A Long Awaited Discussion
The morning soon came, Violet and her friends leaving their hut before it vanished away into her storage item. They received some jealous looks from some of the other adventures who were envious of their comparatively luxurious housing for the night.
Stil lthat did not effect the girls overly much, for them it was only natural that some may be jealous. But after enjoying the comforts of an actual bed for the first time once arriving in the city both Violet and Luna promised themselves to always try and sleep in an actual bed wherever possible! They had tasted some luxury and did not want to let it go!
As they began to gather with the other adventures two figures made their way over to the girls, both of whom were at the peak of the 4th tier.
Masin and Val both arrived in front of Violet at the same time, she looked between the two of them for a moment before choosing not to comment on their synchronised arrival. "Hello how are you this morning?"
Val who was looking forward to discussing more about magical theory today was the first to notice a difference in violets presence. Where before it had been powerful and mostly under control, now it still felt powerful, however the control that seemed only basic was now noticeably stronger.
It was enough to make the drow furrow her brows in confusion as such a level of improvement would take years not meer hours. Still she did not ask her burning question out loud.
Masin however did not seem to notice her improvement in her presence, having only spent a scant few minutes talking to her before now. So he simply responded to her greeting with his usual bearing.
"Good day to you Violet, I am hoping that you might spare a couple of minutes for us to have a quick talk." He then glanced over at Val who stood besides him. "In private if you wouldn’t mind."
"And why would you need to speak to dear Violet now? We have much more important things to talk about than whatever petty requests you have to make of her." Val interjected, she had noticed the slight unease in Violet’s expression when Masin spoke. Whilst few would consider Val a kind woman, she had taken quite a liking to the girl during their time talking the day before, so she would happily throw her weight around to help her out if it didn’t take much effort.
Masin frowned at her words, not expecting the drow to get involved. Still he tried to remain diplomatic in his response. "It is a sensitive matter than I do not feel discussing in the open. Would you please humor me Violet?"
Val frowned but did not interject again, leaving it up to Violet who was staring at the snow leopardkin in some mind consternation, eventually she huffed before speaking up. "Fine, but Luna comes along."
Masin nodded at that after a moment, if it gave him the option to talk to her privately then he would take it. He gestured towards the back of the now assembled adventures and Violet followed behind him, Luna walking right besides her companion.
When they had some space between them and the rest of the adventures Masin tapped an amulet attached to his bracers, an invisable bubble instantly formed around them. "This just blocks sound from escaping, we can talk in here without fear of anyone listening in."
Violet took a moment to investigate the magic making up the artifact and the bubble in question before her gaze returned to Masin. "Okay, so what did you want to discuss with me?"
"Well, let me be blunt. I know you are the Wild Dragon spoken of in the system announcements. I on behalf of my king and city am here to ask for you aid. In return I offer both my own and my men’s protection for as long as you may need it."
Violet frowned at his words, yet she felt no deception in his voice, she took some time to respond, discussing things quickly with Luna through their bond. "If I was this dragon you speak of, what exactly are you asking for my aid with exactly? Because I’m sure you have noticed that I am not as strong as you, so I hope you don’t expect me to fight a battle or something like that?"
Masin grimaced slightly at her words, already letting Violet know that she was unlikely to like what answer he gave next. "Well, not exactly."
Luna sighed in frustration at that. "Elaborate."
"Well we have a couple of reasons we want you to help us. Yes we would like you to be on our side, but we do not expect you to be fighting on the front lines. I don’t know if you know of them but the Kingdom of Eldor, the human kingdom east of the Endles Forest has recently begun to encroach into the forest. They are the ones responsible for the decimation of all wild dragons in the past."
"They have already laid siege to one of our neighboring cities, we fear that once they defeat them they will not stop with only destroying one or two cities, but will instead aim to concur all of the Endless Forest."
Violet’s eyes opened wide at that piece of news, she already had a poor impression of this kingdom of Eldor, but to hear that they were already laying siege to city’s within the Forest was more than worrying.
"That doesn’t change the facts though, how is Violet supposed to stop an entire kingdom that has the power to wipe out all dragons hundreds of years ago? We are only in the early stage of tier 4!" Luna responded before Violet could come up with anything to say.
Masin nodded at Luna’s words, acknowledging the magnitude of the issue. "We obviously do not expect you to fight on the front lines. That would just be sending you to your death. No we would like you to take on a different mission, well two mission actually."
This interested both girls so they gestured for Masin to continue. "First I must ask, are you already a participant of the Champion beast protocol?" At Violet’s nod he continued. "As expected I suppose. Well my king has some information on what exactly the rewards for being crowned the champion are. And from what I understand, whomever becomes the victor, or champion will wield unmatched power within the wilds." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
He took a moment for the girls to understand that. "So what my king asks of you is twofold. First he asked that you try to become the champion beast. And second, he asks that you help release the captured dragons being held by the kingdom. For without their tamed dragons the kingdoms might will become significantly reduced."
Violet actually snorted in amusement at his words, finding the irony to be quite amusing. Masin however, did not seem all too impressed at that and instead looked quite annoyed. Before he could react however, Violet held up and hand and spoke.
"Sorry I just found that the irony to be quite amusing. See you basically requested that I do the exact things that I am already intending on doing."
Masin stared at Violet for a moment, blinking slowly as his mind processed her words. "Wait, truly? You already intended to free the kingdoms dragons?"
"Yup! One of my friends, Rhyana over there." She pointed Rhyana out to Masin. "She was one such dragon held captive by the kingdom, yet she managed to flee along with Susan. They sought me out and requested that I go to the kingdom and help them in freeing the captured dragons. I already promised that I would do so."
Masin froze for a moment, then he began to laugh. "Haha, hahaha truly? Ahh that is indeed quite ironic. To think that our goals were already aligned. Well regardless, I will offer my aid in whatever you may need. Myself and my men are yours to command."
Violet smiled at the man, her opinion of him having taken quite the turn during this candid conversation. "Honestly I don’t think I need your aid. At least not at this current time. We need more strength if we have any hope of challenging the kingdom, that is one of the reasons why we are here. I will not turn down aid when we actually get to the work of freeing the dragons, but as for traversing the Forest. We do not need the help as we want to gain power as we travel."
Masin chuckled at that. "Well given your current strength and knowing how young you are... I’m sure that in but a short time you will likely be more powerful than me if you continue your current advancement rate. But I understand, thank you for listening to my request, and please take this. It is a map of all known cities within the Endless Forest, may it help you on your journeys oh Wild One." With that he bowed towards Violet in a oddly formal manner before walking away and returning to his allies.
