Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 180: Shopping!
Breakfast was finally complete by the time that Violet finished off her fourth helping. Cleaned plates littered the table and content sighs echoed around from the girls. The silver haired dwarf finally felt himself relax as he noted that the glutinous girls had finally finished eating.
With food eaten the girls now had to decide what they should do with the rest of the day. "So I was thinking... we should try and find somewhere that sells beds! I don’t want to have to go back to sleeping on the floor once we resume our journey."
"Hmm that’s not a bad idea Luna, but how would we carry an entire bed around with us?" Susan asked.
Violet blinked at the dogkin in confusion as she gestured towards her ring. "Umm did you forget that we have storage items? We can try and find one for the two of you if you want?"
"Nonono I couldn’t possibly ask you to buy such an expensive item for us!" She hurriedly replied.
"Hmm how much would a storage item cost? I have a lot of coins!"
Susan thought for a while, trying to remember if she had ever heard of a storage item being sold before, eventually coming up empty. "I honestly don’t know, but it must cost hundreds of gold at the minimum!"
"Oh is that all? That’s fine then I have much more than that!" Violet happily informed her friend.
This caused Susan to freeze, she obviously knew that Violet somehow had a lot of money, but she had never considered exactly how much money she truly had. She then remembered that Violet had casually brought out a platinum coin the previous day and she suddenly had a realisation. ’Violet is absolutely filthy rich isn’t she!’
Indeed she was, there was quite literally a small hill of gold coins, a matching hill of gems and rare metals alongside an entire chest of platinum coins held within her expansive storage item. All passed down to her as her mothers legacy.
"Well then let’s go find a bed shop and find somewhere to buy magical artifacts!" Luna announced with a wide smile. She had been missing her enchanted armour that she lost during her evolution, so she was eager to get something else to fill in that gap in her arsenal.
As they stood up however, they realised that they had absolutely no idea where to go to buy what they needed. So being the smart dragon that she is Violet went to ask for help!
Approaching the silver haired dwarf with a smile Violet spoke up once she was close by. "Hello! We want to go and buy some things but don’t know where to go, could you help us with some directions?"
The barkeep smiled in relief at the question, glad that it was not a request for more food. "Of course, what is it that you are looking to buy? I should be able to point you in the right direction."
Violet’s smile widened at that, causing the dwarf to smile in turn at her innocent joy. "Well first we want to buy some beds! The comfiest beds possible for when we leave here!"
"Hmm an odd request but I know just the place." He then proceeded to give direction to a nearby store. "Was their anything else?"
"Yes! We want to buy some magical items, things like storage items, armour, that kind of thing."
This caused the man to falter slightly, to so casually state your intention to buy a storage item, just how stupidly rich was this young lady!? Still he did his best to direct her towards the most reputable magic store that he knew of. With thanks Violet waved and walked back to her group with a winning smile. "Let’s go!"
A few hours later Violet and her friends exited the house supply shop with a satisfied smiles on their faces. They had found and purchased not just a regular bed, or even 3 regular beds. But 3 magically enchanted beds!
Whilst Susan and Rhyana didn’t mind sharing a bed, they stated that if possible they would like to have their own to sleep in. Violet and Luna obviously had no such qualms and happily chose to share a bed.
The magical beds in question where enchanted with several useful features. From self cleaning and repair, to a reinforced frame, it even held a climate control option to regulate the temperate of whomever occupies the bed, helping to keep them cool in hot temperatures and warm in the cold. The beds were truly worth every gold coin that Violet paid for them. The sales assistant from said stall was equally joyful at the commission he just received!
With the important task of securing a good nights sleep completed, they now headed off towards the magic store that Violet had been told about. It was quite some distance away, they had to get further directions a couple of times as they kept getting lost in the maze of streets and buildings.
Eventually though they managed to find themselves in front of an expansive store. Grand golden stone walls adorned the exterior, magical runes carved into the walls themselves enjoying strong magical fluctuations. A powerful looking warrior stood guard outside of the establishment, his middle stage fourth tier presence on full display, held politely back so as to not effect any one just passing bye.
Approaching the door the guard did not move to stop them, but they did notice he straightened up slightly as he noticed that all four of them were Lords as well. A sight that was quite unusual within the city. Still they were allowed in without any issue, entering into the store they gasped as they took in the sights. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
They had walked into a vast open space, numerous glass topped counters scattered through the space, with tall bookshelves lining the walls filled with books of all kinds. Within each of the glass display cases various trinkets and items could be glimpsed within. Yet it was the sheer aura of magic that permitted the room that caused the girls to stagger slightly.
It felt like they had just walked into a magical hot spot, mana was thick in the air as enchantments and dormant spells were packed into an enclosed space, it was an experience that they all were unprepared for.
As they were regaining their ballence they were approached by a smartly dressed young woman, she wore a white shirt with golden trim and a simple black skirt, her fluffy ears denoted her beastkin heritage.
She offered a polite curtsy as she greeted the girls. "Welcome my Ladies, to Masels Magical Marvels, my name is Katy, how can I help you today?" She emphasised the Ladies at the start, indicating that she knew of their strength, something which surprised Violet as she could tell that this woman was significantly weaker than herself, likely in her second tier.
"Hello! We are looking for storage items!" Violet happily explained.
"And for some enchanted armour." Luna helpfully added, unwilling to be away from some propper protection whilst in her humanoid form.
Of their request surprised Katy she did not show it. She instead retained her professional smile as she replied. "Well I’m sure we can find something that will fit your requests. Please follow me, we keep the more... exclusive items on the higher floors."
"But what about everything here?" Asked Violet, unable to hold in the question.
"Ahh I assume this is your first time here?" Katy asked, seeing Violet nod she continued. "Well we keep our basic items down here on the ground floor. With every floor that you move up the items grow progressively more potent and exclusive. For example we do not allow anyone below the forth tier to go beyond the first floor. A certain level of power is needed for us to allow access to the more powerful items."
Violet nodded in understanding, it did make sense that weak people should not be allowed super powerful items, it would hinder their growth and make them remain weak! At least that is what she thought, in reality it was due to the fact that is someone too weak activated a powerful enchantment it could quite literally kill them, as the magic took more power from its wielder than they held.
But our dragon didn’t need to know that! For now she was focused on obtaining new items for her friends!
