Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 74: Marriage Registration
Zane Thorne pressed the milk against Natalie Vaughn’s face, and she was so startled by the cold that she leaned back sharply, almost falling into the arms of the man hitting on her. Zane’s eyes narrowed slightly as he quickly reached out, wrapping his arm around Natalie’s waist to pull her into his embrace.
"Isn’t there a warm option?"
She was wearing thin clothes and standing in the wind for quite a while, eagerly hoping for something warm to drink to heat up her body.
Zane also felt the chill from Natalie’s hands and furrowed his brow.
"Then don’t drink it."
As he spoke, he was about to throw the milk into the trash, but Natalie swiftly took it away.
"But I’m thirsty, I’ll make do."
Hearing this, Zane raised an eyebrow and teased.
"Is the Vaughn family’s young lady also willing to make do?"
Natalie’s motion of inserting the straw paused slightly. After taking a big sip to moisten her lips, she looked up at Zane.
"The Vaughn family’s young lady won’t make do, but Mrs. Thorne must learn to accept."
Zane: ....
This little girl was indirectly blaming him for not taking good care of her.
Seeing Natalie’s lips much more moisturized, Zane snatched the milk from her again.
"Drinking this much is enough, I’ll take you to eat something warm later."
Natalie shrugged her shoulders without any objections.
Their unabashed conversation naturally scared away the man who was hitting on her earlier, although how much of this was due to Zane’s intimidating demeanor remained uncertain.
After nearly an hour of waiting in line, it was finally their turn.
As soon as they sat down, Natalie couldn’t help but shiver, leaning closer to Zane and whispering.
"If I had known, I wouldn’t have experienced waiting in line."
It would have been much faster to arrange everything and come to sign the certificate directly, without waiting so long. The tension she had been ignoring vanished completely, leaving her no mind for anything else. She couldn’t wait to sign and take photos so she could go eat something warm.
Zane, rarely wearing a white shirt today, still couldn’t hide his rebellious aura.
Of the four words "graceful reprobate," he only embodied the "reprobate" part.
Natalie reached out and pinched the man’s arm.
"Smile for the photo, at least."
Otherwise, it would seem like she forced Zane into this marriage.
Zane always hated cameras, with furrowed brows and impatient eyes, and his tall stature frightened the lady taking photos today.
Clearly such a handsome person, how could he be so intimidating?
Natalie didn’t want her wedding photo to depict the groom looking ready to pick a fight.
"Crack a smile, don’t you know how?"
Zane: ....
A grin would look foolish, wouldn’t it?
Seeing the man’s furrowed brows, Natalie knew it wouldn’t be that easy. Zane could smile; he just couldn’t smile for the camera.
She had to find a way to make him relax.
Natalie used her icy hands to smooth Zane’s brow, then moved down to tug his mouth into a smile.
Her intention was to relax his facial muscles, but seeing Zane’s face become slightly comical under her hands, she couldn’t help but laugh.
Zane’s unwilling expression was just like a lamb awaiting slaughter.
Today’s makeup on Natalie hid many thoughts, and her smile always made people want to look into her eyes, which was always the case, but today, Zane saw a hint of tenderness in them.
He wasn’t sure if it was due to the makeup, but the word "tenderness" on Natalie seemed especially precious.
Especially now... as they were obtaining their marriage certificate.
Thinking this, the helplessness in Zane’s eyes gained a touch of endearment.
This little girl’s hands were still icy!
Removing Natalie’s hand from his face, Zane used his own body warmth to try to warm her up quickly.
Indeed, they couldn’t delay any longer; if they dragged it out, Natalie would freeze her mind. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Perhaps it was Natalie’s gesture or that hint of tenderness in her eyes, but the subsequent photoshoot was finally less awkward, and Zane even managed a smile.
Natalie glanced at the photo in the little red booklet.
She smiled brightly, and the man beside her—though not overly joyful—didn’t seem out of place next to her.
Achieving this level, she was already very satisfied.
Taking out her phone, Natalie snapped a photo of the marriage certificate, sighing.
"I never thought I’d get married just like this."
Zane wrapped an arm around her waist, keeping her as close to him as possible, watching her slip the ring back on, his lips curling slightly.
"Just as you wished, Mrs. Thorne."
Natalie raised an eyebrow, noticing how the ring shimmered particularly under today’s sunlight, naturally recalling the words she said when they purchased it.
She said she liked the title "Mrs. Thorne."
But what she didn’t say was that she cherished the "Thorne" surname because it was Zane’s.
"Never thought our first photo would be a wedding photo, huh?"
Quite novel.
Natalie looked up, raising her eyebrow and smiling at Zane, who had his arm around her.
Feeling his heart stir, Zane took Natalie’s phone, swiftly snapping a picture before she could react, then returning the phone to her hand.
"Second photo."
Natalie glanced down, noticing the photo was also pretty good.
"So where are we headed next?"
Zane merely patted her waist, staying silent.
Natalie didn’t ask further, following him trustingly.
Until the car headed up the mountain, and Natalie squinted at the increasingly warm and dazzling sunlight.
"You’re not taking me for a picnic, are you?"
The man glanced sideways at her at her words.
"Something like that."
Natalie: ....
Who else but Zane would take his newlywed wife for a mountain picnic on their wedding day?
But it was precisely this unusual act that made him interesting.
Upon reaching the mountain top and seeing the people busy there, Natalie laughed again.
She was not fond of those overly refined places, preferring spots where she could chat and drink with friends.
Phoebe Quinn was there, Aaron Channing was there, Felix Langdon was there, Theodore Langdon was there, and even her brother was there.
She retracted her earlier thought; Zane’s choice was actually quite good.
She loved being with those close to her, enjoying the wind, sun, meat, drinks, and chatting.
So Natalie left her newlywed husband behind, running towards the group.
The wind was strong, her hair lifted and fell, while Zane watched her from behind, hands in his pockets, following leisurely.
James Vaughn was the first to notice them, greeting Natalie with a smile as she ran over.
"Watch your step!"
This mountain top was uneven, scattered with stones.
Natalie stopped in front of James.
"Aren’t you going to the office today?"
James tidied the hair clinging to her face, then playfully flicked her nose.
"Thanks to you, I’m taking a day off. Dad went instead."
Noticing the difference in Natalie’s makeup today, James felt sentimental.
In a short time, his sister seemed to have grown up a lot.
Now, she was a married woman.
Thinking this, James looked past Natalie, catching eyes with Zane as he approached. Zane nodded at him before his gaze returned to Natalie, filled with tenderness.
James’s eyes shifted slightly.
The choice he made appeared to be correct.
