Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 219: You Need to Control Yourself
Dr. Spencer clearly knew why Zane Thorne retired back then. He gave Zane a meaningful look, then said to Natalie Vaughn.
"Some things are just destined. Natural disasters, man-made misfortunes, there’s no fault in it, and there’s no need to punish yourself."
Zane understood Dr. Spencer’s words, his eyebrows twitched slightly as he lowered his eyes, playing with Natalie’s hair.
After a trip to Yenton, it seemed from Gideon Sheffield’s parents’ attitude, they didn’t truly blame Zane; it was just hard for them to get past that mental hurdle.
As an outsider, she could rationally see, like Dr. Spencer, that there was no need for Zane to retire because of what happened five years ago. But as Zane’s wife, she could empathize and understand even more.
Zane, he seemed wild and arrogant, caring about nothing, but in truth, he valued relationships deeply.
Dr. Spencer saw Natalie deep in thought and knew she was not entirely unaware of past events.
"These past five years, you’ve been unlike yourself, but today you seem much more alive."
But just being alive was not enough. Zane should be more flamboyant and free. He loved racing for more than a decade; he shouldn’t have left the track.
That’s all he felt as Zane’s elder.
He had said all he needed to, not knowing how much could be resolved. He’d tried advising for five years without success, and wasn’t in a rush now.
He heard Gideon Sheffield had returned, thought perhaps this time, Zane might want to return to the track and restart the life that had been on hold for five years.
But that wasn’t the case.
When Dr. Spencer left, a brief silence lingered between the couple. Natalie wrapped her arms around Zane’s neck, staring at him for a long time.
Then Zane lifted his gaze to meet hers, and she leaned in to give him a kiss on the bridge of his nose.
"What are you doing?"
The man’s voice carried a hint of amusement.
Natalie hugged him tighter, shook her head, then smiled as she lowered her head to peck his eyelid again.
"Didn’t know you had your cards cut off as a kid, how tragic."
Zane chuckled, lifting Natalie’s waist slightly, rubbing it gently.
"Laughing at me?"
Natalie was a bit ticklish, something Zane discovered about her in bed. Now, she shrank a bit in his arms, biting her lip to hold back the ticklish sensation.
Pure yet seductive.
Seeing her like this sparked something in Zane; he initially wanted to clear up what happened five years ago. But now, watching her like this, he didn’t want to say anything.
The man tightened his grip, pulling Natalie close, tilting her chin up with his hand, and kissed her fiercely.
Natalie: ...
This damn man could get horny anytime, anywhere. After last night’s long session, wasn’t he satisfied? Even if he wasn’t, she couldn’t let him have his way. Her life mattered.
Instead of using brute force, she subtly slid her hand down and pinched Zane’s side. He let out a muffled grunt immediately.
Zane was quite sensitive there; it was also from bedroom experiences Natalie learned this.
"No way."
Zane’s eyes glowed red, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, his voice hoarse.
"Baby."
Natalie rolled her eyes at him.
"Calling me baby won’t work. Don’t you understand restraint, Zane?"
Upon hearing this, Zane raised an eyebrow.
"Restrain? Then, baby, tell me how long we haven’t seen each other?"
Natalie didn’t know Zane’s intention behind this question. Since they married, they hadn’t lived together for long, staying apart, and even when he could come over, it was only for two or three days at most.
"A month and three days?"
As soon as she said it, Natalie felt her throat turn dry; it really had been too long since they last met.
Darkness flickered in Zane’s eyes.
"Yeah, baby, thirty-three days apart, and you think last night was enough?"
Natalie: ....
Natalie: ???????
By Zane’s logic, did he want to make up for the entire past month over these few days? That’s impossible! That’s not enjoyment; it’s practically risking life!
Natalie reflexively raised her hand and slapped Zane’s face.
"You’re dreaming, you shameless man."
Zane raised an eyebrow, clasping Natalie’s hand within his palm.
"Did I say something?"
Natalie: ...
"You should know you can’t indulge yourself."
"I don’t know."
Natalie: ..... Fine, reasoning with you isn’t going to work.
"Hubby."
Natalie suddenly softened her voice, her pretty eyes looking at Zane pitifully.
"I’m not feeling well."
Zane knew what Natalie aimed to do; he sighed, feeling both helpless and genuinely pained. Last night... he really went too hard; he knew, and fortunately, Natalie’s martial arts foundation helped her still get out of bed now.
"Where does it hurt?"
"Everywhere."
Zane chuckled as he reached to knead her waist.
"How about I massage you?"
Natalie quickly caught his hand.
"No need, resting for a day is enough."
Letting Zane massage would definitely end up rolling into bed.
Seeing that Natalie was determined to escape this round, Zane didn’t push it further; he did care for his wife after all.
However.....
Zane raised a hand to ruffle Natalie’s hair, then moved her aside.
Natalie: ??????
The man clicked his tongue, giving her a meaningful look.
"If you can’t handle it, don’t provoke me."
Ultimately, the one who’d suffer would be him.
Natalie blinked in confusion, initially not understanding what Zane meant, until he couldn’t hold back and went to grab a bottle of cold water, drinking it all in one go. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
In the middle of winter, who drinks cold water?
Natalie realized Zane was restraining himself, eyes deep, seemingly suppressing something, even the veins on his temples slightly throbbing.
When Zane sat back beside her, Natalie shifted her gaze downward, staring at the undeniably noticeable area.
Ahem... No wonder Zane told her not to provoke him.
Noticing where Natalie’s attention was, Zane didn’t cover up, instead parting his legs, boldly, with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Baby, if you keep looking, do you believe you’ll be stuck in bed all day tomorrow?"
Natalie’s neck shrank, retracting her gaze, not daring to look anymore.
Her expression made the man chuckle lowly, reminding him of the days before they registered their marriage, staying at Rivermark Apartments.
Back then, she doubted his prowess because he didn’t react when they slept together, fixing her eyes on him just like now.
Of course, she chickened out quickly, just like now.
A little perv, but not very brave.
Natalie admitted her lack of courage, especially after Zane’s laughter triggered her rebellious streak.
Why was Zane laughing at her? What if she looked, then what?
So Natalie abruptly turned, pressing her lips with mild defiance, looking right between his legs.
Zane: ...
Come on, if you wanted to look, just do it calmly. What’s this defiant staring supposed to mean?
