Chapter 200: Chapter 200: Mrs. Thorne

Because of Old Master Blackwood’s intervention, the matter of Serena Blackwood entering the police station was never exposed. Natalie Vaughn had no objections.

For her, Serena Blackwood’s career in the entertainment industry was already ruined, and as for her reputation, she didn’t care. She had always been reluctant to waste too much energy on irrelevant people. However, while Natalie Vaughn was unwilling to bother, James Vaughn didn’t let it go.

After a week of back and forth at the police station, when Serena Blackwood came out, she received a USB drive containing the reasons behind all the resources she had obtained at the start of her career,

As a newcomer with no background, when she had not yet returned to The Blackwood Family, there was only one way for her to make a name for herself, the most common way in the circle. Looking at the content on the USB, Serena Blackwood broke into a cold sweat.

She didn’t know if this was done by the Vaughn Family or... Zane Thorne, but seeing these things made her realize she could no longer survive in the entertainment circle. But she only had her status in the entertainment industry; everything else wasn’t hers.

Now... she couldn’t even stay in the entertainment circle, and Old Master Blackwood even ordered her not to go out.

Ha.

Just one Natalie Vaughn, and her years of hard work were destroyed.

Serena Blackwood could no longer hold back, her face twisted, her eyes icy cold.

...

In Natalie’s last week of filming, her scenes finally didn’t require stunts, just some simple emotional scenes.

It was strange; Natalie completed the action scenes quickly. Logically, with more than a month’s experience, these emotional scenes should be easy, yet Natalie needed two or three takes for each scene.

Director Gable’s fondness for Natalie was genuine, but when he scolded her, he was equally harsh.

But Natalie didn’t take the scolding to heart and could even joke around.

"Director, I can’t help it. I’m too invested, and I feel guilty towards my husband."

Director Gable: ...

Ridiculous guilt.

But despite saying that, Natalie still professionally completed all her emotional scenes, which, while not as impressive as her action scenes, met Director Gable’s standards.

On the day Natalie wrapped up her scenes, the cast went out for a dinner. Coincidentally, the hotel they chose was the same one where Natalie had previously attended a gathering with Zane Thorne’s friends.

The incident that happened in the lobby back then had already spread throughout the hotel, so when Natalie and her group arrived, the hotel manager recognized her immediately and rushed up to greet her with a bow.

"Madam Thorne."

Natalie: ...

Director Gable: ...

The other actors: ????

Julian Sutton crossed his arms and watched the scene unfold, amused.

Natalie felt a moment of awkwardness. She had always been low-key, apart from those in the circle who knew she was cherished by the Vaughn Family. Outside, she had never relied on her background. Most places would only assume she was a young lady from a wealthy family but wouldn’t know her surname.

This was the first time she was called out in front of so many people, especially being addressed as Madam Thorne.

Natalie coughed lightly and nodded. The manager, however, didn’t leave but continued to escort them after hearing the number of their private room. When they reached the room, the hotel’s owner also came to greet them and personally opened the door.

"Madam Thorne."

Natalie: ...

Her entourage was left a bit unsure by this grand welcome.

Director Gable laughed awkwardly, looking at Natalie, raising an eyebrow in jest.

"Today we’re benefiting from Natalie’s influence."

Julian Sutton quietly added a comment.

"It’s not Natalie today; it’s Madam Thorne."

Natalie immediately shot Julian a glare.

"You all carry on; don’t mind us."

The owner and manager both gave a slight bow.

"If Madam Thorne has any requests, feel free to mention them."

Natalie raised her hand and pointed to her temple, and the perceptive owner quickly left with the manager.

Once everyone settled in the private room, they began to whisper among themselves.

The second male lead was braver, especially since it was Natalie’s last day with the cast. He had heard she wouldn’t be participating in future promotions, so there was uncertainty about whether they’d see her again. He directly asked,

"Nina, are you really married?"

Natalie raised an eyebrow.

"Could the marriage certificate be fake?"

Everyone laughed.

The second male lead scratched his head, chuckling.

"Nina, you’re so young and beautiful. Without hearing it from you, we really can’t believe it."

Natalie’s expression shifted slightly, recalling that the second male lead coincidentally wasn’t present during Zane Thorne’s two visits to the set.

Since the gathering was to bid farewell to Natalie, naturally all topics revolved around her. They started using the nickname fans had given her, "The Young Lady."

The attitude of the hotel owner and manager just now already indicated that Natalie had an extraordinary background. They weren’t so indiscreet as to ask which "Thorne" the "Madam Thorne" referred to.

However, they did ask several questions fans were curious about.

For instance, whether Natalie would continue acting. Or how long the "Young Lady" planned to entertain herself in the industry.

Natalie answered honestly.

"I’m not sure if I’ll take on more roles. These past two months have exhausted me; I need a good rest."

Her words essentially complained about Director Gable’s tough filming methods.

Director Gable felt wronged.

"You can ask others if I was relatively kind to you."

Natalie thought about the nearly two months she spent on wires, her mouth twitching slightly.

"That’s because I acted well, and you did scold me."

Director Gable: ...

"You’re certainly good at praising yourself."

Natalie blinked, then slowly added.

"Mainly because Director Gable’s guidance was excellent."

The others: Such a quick change of face.

Director Gable snorted coldly, unable to suppress a smile.

"Are you interested in my next film?"

As soon as he said that, except for Director Gable himself, Julian Sutton, and Natalie, everyone else’s expressions turned serious.

Getting a role in Director Gable’s films was something everyone in the industry desired, but unless they passed Director Gable’s scrutiny, no amount of money could secure them a spot. Even with Felix Langdon’s grueling arrangement, Director Gable wouldn’t have agreed if he hadn’t seen Natalie’s training video.

Yet Natalie refused without hesitation.

"Not interested."

Director Gable’s smile vanished instantly.

The others at the table: ...

She rejected Director Gable’s film? And so decisively?

"Don’t you want to think it over? The script is ready; you can take a look first."

But Natalie still shook her head.

"Director, I’m really not interested right now. I’ve just finished filming; who would want to suffer again?"

Director Gable snorted coldly.

"Then rest a bit. You can decide after you’ve seen the script. I’m not in a hurry to start anyway."

Natalie raised an eyebrow, saying no more for now. She’d decide later because no one could force her to do something she didn’t want to.

Feeling it was unfair, Director Gable was annoyed that everyone else coveted his films while Natalie not only didn’t care but seemed somewhat disdainful!

Seeking validation, Director Gable asked again.

"Why did you agree to do this film, then?"

With expectation in his eyes, Director Gable listened as Natalie smoothly replied,

"Didn’t I say before? Felix Langdon forced me into it; we made a deal."

Director Gable: ...

Should he continue eating?

Just as Natalie was about to say something pleasant to cajole Director Gable, there was a sudden loud crash at the door.
