Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 175: Aaron Channing Flies to Altara
Phoebe Quinn didn’t come over to discuss other women with Natalie Vaughn; she’s got a rare two-day vacation and naturally doesn’t want to waste any time.
She absolutely isn’t jealous because Natalie is paying attention to other women!
"Nina, can you tell me what happened between you and God Thorne recently?"
She was simply too curious about how someone like God Thorne got transformed step-by-step by Nina from a clueless straight guy into a good man who’s learning to pamper his wife.
Even those first days chasing Mrs. Vaughn...
Wow~ Her God Thorne actually has such a side. Although Phoebe Quinn knows Natalie’s charm and understands no one can resist Natalie’s playful persuasion, she’s still a bit surprised.
This is so different from the God Thorne she knew in high school.
"What are you talking about?"
"Everything!"
"There’s so much, where should I start?"
Phoebe Quinn rolled her eyes.
"Start with how God Thorne got you into bed."
Natalie Vaughn: ....
Conversations between best friends are endless, even if they’re not in a bar, they can still sip a little wine in a hotel and chat away.
Phoebe Quinn, hearing how Natalie coaxes and fusses with Zane Thorne, felt even more admiration.
"Nina, is this really your first love?"
If she hadn’t been with Natalie since childhood, she would never believe this was Natalie’s first love.
How could she be so skilled! Even someone like God Thorne is wrapped around her finger.
"What, feeling like you want to fall in love after hearing all that?"
"Yeah, it’s so freakin’ sweet."
"Then go ahead and date someone."
"Date who? Right now I’m always battling with those old men at the company, who can I date?"
Natalie Vaughn smiled meaningfully.
"It’s not like there’s no one beside you."
"Who?"
Phoebe Quinn furrowed her brow, thinking about who around her of a similar age, good looking, there’s only one candidate.
Natalie smiled but remained silent, Phoebe knew what she was thinking, and her eyes widened.
"Are you talking about Aaron Channing? Nina, what are you thinking? We’re just good friends."
But Natalie hummed lightly.
"Do you really think that way?"
"Isn’t it true? We’ve been hanging out since high school."
"Are you sure that’s how Aaron views it? He’s never referred to you as a sister or a guy bestie."
Phoebe Quinn contemplated Natalie’s words, it seemed true, Aaron had never said that.
"But..."
"But what? Yana, why are you so slow on your own affairs? Poor Aaron has liked someone for so long only to be thought of as a sister."
Phoebe Quinn blushed.
"Aaron... really likes me?"
"Think carefully, has there ever been a time when I went out with Aaron alone? Isn’t this what you call a trio gang? He’s only ever gone out with you alone."
That seems to be the case.
Phoebe was a bit confused.
"Yana, I’m telling you, just pitying Aaron, don’t feel pressured. Take your time to consider whether you see him purely as a friend or if there’s a bit of romantic affection there."
Although that’s what Natalie said, from her observations, Phoebe definitely has feelings for Aaron beyond friendship, otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought it up.
Phoebe thought deeply but couldn’t come up with an answer yet. Her head was in a mess and a bit foggy.
"He likes me? Hah, all he ever sees are his patients. I finally got two days off and wanted to invite him along to see you, guess what? He said he’s going to Altara, to see a patient? What patient is so important that he has to go all the way to Altara?"
Natalie’s smile faded, her expression turned serious, furrowing her brow at the inquiry.
"You said Aaron went to Altara?"
"Yes, he went early in the morning. Never mentioned he was going before, seems pretty urgent."
Altara, Altara again.
Given Aaron’s current status in psychology, a patient that warrants his trip to Altara must either be someone highly influential or connected.
For some reason, Natalie suddenly had the thought that Aaron went to Altara for Gideon Sheffield. The moment she thought of this, she felt a shock.
But the more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.
Aaron and Zane Thorne had been close, but their relationship had never reached that extent?
Could it be that the psychological issues of Gideon Sheffield are the reason Zane went to Aaron? A prodigy in racing like Gideon, who lost his legs in an accident, the disparity must be difficult for anyone to endure?
"Yana."
Natalie’s tone dropped into seriousness, Phoebe withdrew from her playful thoughts.
"Have you ever heard Aaron mention Gideon Sheffield?"
Phoebe didn’t understand why Natalie suddenly asked that and shook her head.
"No, why?"
Natalie straightened her posture.
"Do you think it’s possible he’s in Altara because of Gideon Sheffield, Zane Thorne rushed there too."
Phoebe furrowed her brow.
"Not likely, right?"
"Do you remember going to the club? He and Zane chatted for a while, I asked what they talked about but he wouldn’t tell me."
Phoebe blinked, she couldn’t remember, didn’t know about it at all, she was focused on chatting with the club guys back then.
"Should we...call him and ask?"
Phoebe raised her phone.
"By now he should have landed."
Natalie nodded immediately, so Phoebe dialed the number.
Phoebe’s calls, Aaron has always answered quickly, this time was no different.
"Yana? Why are you suddenly calling me?"
After a long flight, Aaron’s voice was quite tired.
Phoebe directly gave her phone to Natalie.
Natalie spoke up and Aaron paused on the other end.
"Yana’s already in Veridia, Nina, sorry, I can’t make it to your birthday celebration."
"If you’re actually sorry, then tell me why you went to Altara?"
Aaron:...
He knew when Natalie called, it couldn’t be anything good.
"Nina."
Aaron called out helplessly.
Natalie raised an eyebrow, with the relationship they had, if it was an ordinary patient, Aaron would have readily told her, or at least use the reason of protecting patient privacy.
But Aaron didn’t, maybe fatigue slowed his mind, letting Natalie find a loophole.
"Is it what I suspect?"
Aaron tried desperately.
"What exactly are you suspecting?"
Natalie’s fingers curled slightly, expression serious.
"Zane Thorne also went to Altara."
Aaron sighed suddenly. Natalie was too smart; he’d never mentioned that Zane had approached him to her, Natalie only drew connections based on a single chat between him and Zane.
Terrifyingly smart.
He didn’t plan to deny it, he knew Natalie had asked Phoebe about Gideon Sheffield and had been investigating why Zane retired that year.
Natalie thinking this far, while surprising, made sense.
"Yes, it’s just as you thought. But..."
Natalie interrupted Aaron.
"I won’t tell Zane, you go ahead and do your work. You... take care, really take care."
Aaron froze for a moment, suddenly understanding why Zane would be so captivated by Natalie.
Natalie always managed her relationships skillfully, she would never put friends in a difficult spot, being around smart people like her is quite comforting.
"Nina, I’ll take care, also, thank you."
Zane had asked him to keep it confidential.
Yet Natalie was astoundingly smart, while he, first and foremost Natalie’s friend, was indeed helping Zane out.
