Chapter 66: Chapter 66: The Plan is Perfect, Reality is Stark

The door had just opened, and Chloe Grant, who was originally standing behind Matthew Morgan, suddenly dashed inside like crazy.

However, Matthew hadn’t turned on the lights, and Chloe, rushing in like that—

Pitched into the pitch-black darkness where she couldn’t see a thing. Unfamiliar with the villa, she stumbled in and fell to the ground with a heavy thud, accompanied by her cries of pain.

Matthew frowned but couldn’t help chuckling.

She was still so reckless, sometimes like a child, making people feel particularly helpless.

Matthew chose not to turn on the lights first but walked in and helped Chloe up.

The lighting from outside was enough for a normal person to see.

But Chloe’s night blindness was so severe that she couldn’t see clearly.

"I’ll take you upstairs," Matthew said, holding Chloe’s hand.

"Oh, okay."

Originally intending to dash in herself and hide in a room, Chloe had become completely obedient.

Earlier at the door, Chloe had thought about just kneeling down, hugging her Uncle Morgan’s leg, and deeply repenting, apologizing.

But then she thought...

How silly.

Might as well just dash in, hide in the room, and then tomorrow cook a meal for Uncle Morgan to sincerely express her apologies.

The plan was perfect, but reality was harsh...

Chloe met her downfall in the dark living room.

"Ah..."

While Chloe was miserably pondering her predicament, her body suddenly staggered and she fell straight into Matthew’s arms.

It felt like something had bumped her from behind?

Chloe wasn’t used to being too intimate with Uncle Morgan...

She’d been scared of him since she was small, the aura around Matthew always seemed intimidating.

Quickly, she backed out of his arms.

But then something bumped her from behind again, and she staggered once more into Matthew’s embrace.

This time, Chloe’s whole face was pressed against Matthew’s chest—

From an angle, it looked as if she was kissing his chest.

In the dim light, Matthew frowned, his eyes suddenly deepened.

Her face pressed through the shirt onto his chest, her breath hot and searing.

Her lips moved, almost like a feather tickling his heart.

It was unbearably tempting.

Chloe didn’t realize Matthew’s change, she couldn’t perceive it and couldn’t see Matthew’s expression either.

She just wriggled in Matthew’s arms, feeling wronged, not daring to rise...

"Uncle Morgan, something..."

As soon as she got up, it bumped her into Matthew’s arms.

Chloe’s expression was extremely awkward now, but she was also afraid that getting up would only make her fall back into his arms again, which would be even more awkward.

"Get up," Matthew commanded coldly, his voice slightly hoarse.

That was the voice he used whenever he was exercising considerable restraint.

Chloe paused.

This voice... very familiar.

"Get up," Matthew reminded again.

Chloe paused for a moment, then quickly got up.

When her body came out of Matthew’s embrace, something behind her bumped again, but before it hit Chloe’s back this time, Matthew quickly swatted it aside.

"Uncle Morgan, what was that...?" Chloe heard a "thud" sound.

"Boxing bag," Matthew replied.

Hanging over there, swinging violently, that’s why Chloe kept getting bumped.

"Upstairs," Matthew said simply, grabbing Chloe’s hand and leading her upstairs.

"Boxing bag?" Chloe tilted her head.

Her first thought was of the ones she had seen in the gym, hanging from the ceiling, the kind that would rebound with a punch from a boxer.

But then...

Such boxing bags shouldn’t swing this much if no one touches them, right?
