Chapter 82: Girl talk

The atmosphere was joyous and relaxed, and Sienna felt a faint tranquility she hadn’t felt since her family was killed. Although she had known the people only for two days, excluding Kyrell, they made her feel as if she had known them for years. If only they stopped treating her formally...

Sienna sighed, leaving the matter for Kyrell to handle. Anyway, they wouldn’t be listening to her.

"Miss Lawrence, I have something to ask." Amy moved closer, and Sienna bent towards her, decreasing the distance between them. "May I know why you haven’t told the others about Kyrell and your marriage?"

Currently, only Xavier, Isaac, and she knew about it. Her other friends were oblivious to it. She couldn’t quite fathom why Kyrell had forbidden her to say anything to the others. Weren’t they his friends? Didn’t they have the right to know? Was it Sienna who forbade him from revealing to anyone else?

"Oh, that?" Sienna laughed softly, sounding like the soft chimes of a bell. "Kyrell and I getting married is a huge matter, and it’s Isaac’s birthday today. We don’t want to steal the thunder from him. He should enjoy his day."

"Ah..." Amy hadn’t thought of it that way. Kyrell hadn’t given her any reason for asking the matter to be kept a secret from everyone. For a moment, she even wondered if Sienna didn’t intend to let anyone know about it. Maybe she was doing it only to gain the assets, and didn’t consider Kyrell’s feelings and thoughts to heart.

Amy realized how wrong she had been and smiled sheepishly. She didn’t say anything else and moved back into her chair, and Sienna gave her a knowing smile.

"Don’t worry. We’ll inform the others tomorrow."

"Yes, Miss Lawrence."

"What’s wrong?" Kyrell hadn’t missed Amy’s guarded expression when she was speaking to Sienna. Why did she look as if she were fighting an enemy?

"Nothing much. Just some girl talk," Sienna didn’t throw Amy under the bus. The woman had good intentions. She was just looking out for her friend.

Kyrell didn’t probe more, and the dinner proceeded peacefully.

"By the way, I need to discuss a few things regarding the marriage," Sienna started when everyone’s attention was elsewhere.

"Yes, tell me." Kyrell stiffened at once, and he looked at her worriedly. He didn’t know what she wanted to talk about. But her serious expression made his heart skip a beat in nervousness.

"Not here. Let’s talk once we return home."

"Okay."

Kyrell started to feel antsy. His thoughts ran wild, each scarier than the other.

What does she want to talk about? Is she having second thoughts about marriage? Did Amy say something that made her change her mind?

When Sienna saw him fidgetting in his chair as if someone had poked his butt, she stifled a laufg and shook her head helplessly. "Relax. It’s just a normal conversation, nothing serious. I just want to discuss a few things and lay some boundaries before we get married."

Kyrell felt the suffocation in his lungs lessen, and he sighed in relief. His smile that had vanished a few seconds ago returned, and his mood lifted.

"Miss Lawrence, you must be wondering why we are all this excited for Isaac’s birthday?" Amy said suddenly, startling Sienna.

Kyrell was deep in conversation with Xavier and Kyle. So, he didn’t notice what the two women were up to.

Sienna hadn’t actually thought of it that way. Wasn’t it normal to celebrate birthdays? Although she preferred to celebrate it with her family with no pomp and circumstance, the others were entitled to do what they pleased. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Why is Amy bringing up this topic suddenly?

"Last year, when we were on a mission, we almost lost Isaac. We thought we wouldn’t see him again."

Sienna’s pulse jumped, and her face lost all color in fright.

"When we found him, he was bleeding all over. Thankfully, the doctors were able to save him," Amy said, smiling softly as she stared at Isaac, and Sienna’s brows shot up when she realized what was happening. Amy had feelings for Isaac.

"So this birthday matters a lot to us," Amy said, feeling a wave of emotions hit her. But she hid them brilliantly.

Sienna understood Amy wasn’t saying those words on a whim. She ought to have a reason, and she subconsciously glanced at Kyrell, who was still speaking to Xavier.

"In our field of work, danger is that obsessive lover we can’t escape from," Amy’s voice changed, and Sienna looked at her grimly. "Once the dust settles, we might not be your bodyguards anymore. Sometimes, he’ll have to take up missions that might put his life in danger. If you’re scared and you feel you cannot marry someone like him, please don’t lead him on. He might not be able to handle the heartbreak in the future."

Sienna’s lips thinned while her forehead creased.

"Please stop it before it becomes too late."

Amy had seen a few of her friends break up because their partners weren’t very supportive of their jobs. Kyrell loved his job, and she didn’t want the couple to face any problems in the future because of it. If Sienna had any problems, they had better end everything before it began.

Sienna smiled faintly, understanding what Amy was trying to convey.

"Amy, since the day I met Kyrell, aside from suspecting him, I also respected him. He was the man who saved me, he’s my savior. After listening to you now, my respect for him has only increased. It takes a brave heart to put yourself in danger to protect people whom you don’t even know."

Sienna glanced at Kyrell again, only to find him staring at her solemnly. Returning her focus to Amy, she continued, "I understand your concerns, and I’m glad that Kyrell has a friend like you. My words may seem ostentatious, considering that we barely know each other. But trust me when I say I will never hinder him from doing his job."

Amy nodded, relieved that Sienna understood her.

"Moreover, if he can be so devoted to his job that puts him in danger almost every day of his life, I wonder how devoted he’ll be to his wife, whom he likes more than anyone."

Amy’s lips curled up teasingly at her words, and she gave her a mysterious look.

Sienna too smiled back, only that it was filled with sincerity. "I consider myself blessed for being that woman."
