Accidentally Mated To Four Alphas-Chapter 269: _ Designed To Break Her
"Then Heidi came."
The change in the room is immediate. Every head tilts toward Ginny and all ears perk up.
"She wasn’t like us," Ginny continues. "She didn’t try hard to get their attention. She didn’t even try to flirt with them. She... she didn’t chase them." Her mouth twists bitterly. "She barely even looked at them."
Heidi’s wolf lifts her head. "Ugh, she’s wrong there. You look at them at every chance, don’t you?"
Shut up! Heidi, embarrassed, rolls her eyes internally.
Ginny swallows. "And yet, they noticed her." Her eyes flick just for a second toward Amias, Darien, Morgan, and Grayson.
"Even when they were angry at her. Even when they were punishing her, they still saw her." Ginny’s voice drops. "And they never saw us."
Something in her finally gives out.
"We couldn’t take it," she admits, tears spilling freely down her cheeks now. "We were jealous. So jealous it made us stupid and shameless."
Mrs. Castell shifts sharply in her seat. "This is nonsense!"
Elder Rowen raises a hand without looking at her. "Sounds like it, but let the girl empty her mouth."
At that, Heidi’s eyes bulged. What does the old man mean by " it’s nonsense?! She turns toward Morgan who is stroking his chin thoughtfully, or doing so to contain his anger.
"Those stinky old men see that we have concrete evidence now, so they are trying to debunk it." Grayson scoffs, tapping his foot on the floor.
Ginny wipes her face with the heel of her palm, smearing tears without caring how it looks. "Sierra already hated Heidi. From the moment she was assigned to their family."
Sierra stiffens violently in her wheelchair. "Shut up."
Ginny flinches but she doesn’t stop.
"She said it was humiliating," the girl quietly reveals. "That people would laugh at them for being paired with a nobody. A Moon Blessed from nothing."
Heidi’s chest tightens.
"And when she realized the Alpha heirs were paying attention to Heidi... any attention at all, she lost it," Ginny continues. "She told us Heidi was dangerous. That if we didn’t deal with her, she’d take everything."
Her voice trembles. "We believed her. Or maybe... maybe we just wanted an excuse."
The courtroom feels like it’s leaning forward hungrily now. Heidi knows everyone is going to have enough gossip to last them an entire month after this.
"So when Sierra told us to hurt her," Ginny whispers, "we did."
A sharp intake of breath echoes from somewhere in the crowd.
Ginny squeezes her eyes shut. "We tripped her. Hit her. Humiliated her. We told ourselves she deserved it."
Her shoulders shake. "And even when it went too far—when it became... vicious—we didn’t stop. We enjoyed it as it happened. It makes us feel better about ourselves."
Heidi’s nails dig into her palms. Her vision blurs and it’s not with fear this time, but something hotter. Something heavier.
Ginny opens her eyes again, tears streaking freely down her face. She looks at Heidi then.
"I’m sorry," she sobs. "I’m so sorry."
The words aren’t loud. They don’t need to be. Something in Heidi fractures anyway.
Her wolf presses close, sucking his teeth. "She means it."
Mrs. Castell surges to her feet. "This is ridiculous!" she snaps. "These girls have always been jealous of my daughter. Everyone knows that! Of course, they’d turn on her now to save themselves."
A few nods ripple through the Castell supporters.
"That explains everything," Mrs. Castell continues sharply. "They’re framing Sierra because they couldn’t stand her beauty, intelligence, and elegance!"
Sierra latches onto that lifeline instantly. "Yes," she gasps. "That’s what this is. They’ve always hated me."
Ginny shakes her head helplessly. "No..."
Elder Rowen clears his throat. "That will be enough," he says coolly.
Ginny looks up, startled. "I—I-I’m not finished..."
"You’ve admitted to jealousy and misconduct," Rowen interrupts. "That severely compromises your credibility."
Heidi’s head snaps up. Excuse me?
Rowen steeples his fingers. "You were motivated by envy. Obsession. Adolescent fixation." His amber eyes are sharp and dispassionate. "Such emotions are fertile ground for fabrication."
Ginny shakes her head desperately. "No... I-I’m telling the truth!"
Rowen doesn’t raise his voice. "That is your perception of events."
A murmur travels through the crowd.
Heidi’s wolf growls. "He’s dismissing her. They were calm because they thought we didn’t have evidence and now that they know we do, they are trying to sabotage us."
"Do something, Darien." Heidi groans amidst gritted teeth.
As though he can hear her, he takes a step forward, but Rowen lifts a hand immediately. "You may speak when addressed," he commands.
Ginny’s breath comes in short gasps. "We hurt her because Sierra told us to..."
"And yet, you admit you already disliked the accused." The old man cut her short.
"That doesn’t mean..."
"It means that your testimony is emotionally compromised." Elder Mavren counters this time.
He turns to the court. "We will note her statement with caution."
Caution.
That word sends hot rage through Heidi’s veins. Her chest tightens painfully. She watches Ginny crumble, watches the truth get folded into a neat little box labeled ’unreliable’. How on earth is she supposed to win a case where its judges are against her? She wonders.
Her wolf snarls. "They want us to lose."
The thought lands like a stone in Heidi’s stomach and keeps sinking. Lose.
Her mind races ahead against her will, sprinting toward futures she doesn’t want to see. Shackles. Exile. A cell carved into cold stone where Moon Blesseds are whispered about like curses instead of people. Her powers restrained, monitored, controlled... that is if they don’t decide she’s too dangerous to keep breathing at all. She imagines the pack turning on her fully this time, not just with words but with law, with sanctioned cruelty dressed up as justice.
And worse than all of it... being taken away from them.
From Morgan’s reckless warmth. Grayson’s quiet steadiness. Darien’s relentless faith. Amias’s infuriating, grounding presence. Her chest aches at the thought of their hands being forced to let go. She swallows hard, nails biting deeper into her palms.
She’s fought monsters. She’s survived humiliation, violence, and betrayal. But this? This is a system that wants her broken politely.
She knows one thing for sure, her life’s definitely never going to remain the same after this... and it’s certainly not in a positive way.
