Accidentally Mated To Four Alphas-Chapter 237: _ Father and Sons’ Confrontation
The moment Darien, Morgan, and Grayson step into the living room, the air changes. Their father stands rigidly in the center, suit impeccably tailored, dark eyes fixed hardly. Daphne lingers at his side, arms crossed, lips tight, the faint curl at the corner of her mouth shows the smug satisfaction of someone who’s already set the stage.
Darien’s stomach knots instantly. He knows that look—his father is not just angry. He’s calculating, dangerous, and every muscle in his body is primed for confrontation. Daphne already ratted the whole situation to him.
"She probably didn’t even let him properly come in." Kairos tsks in Darien’s head.
The three brothers straighten instantly, shoulders rigid, hearts starting to beat fast. Even Morgan, the usually brazen, eye-roll-inducing, irrepressible Morgan, goes stiff. Grayson looks ready to bolt, but Darien notices the way his younger brother’s wolf has him rooted to the spot.
Kairos snorts in his head. "Hell, it smells like a cage in here. I can taste it, Darien. This is going to hurt but we are not losing our momentum, okay?"
Darien swallows and forces a casual, "Father," greeting. His voice is tighter than he wants, betraying the adrenaline running through his veins.
The Alpha doesn’t even glance at the courtesy. He’s glaring, trying to keep the storm within him controlled, and then he growls, "Come with me." His tone leaves no room for argument.
Darien’s heart clenches. Never in his life has he argued with his father. Not once. The Alpha’s presence alone is enough to make the air quiver. But Darien’s mind refuses to shrink and kneel in fear. Not this time, he thinks. Not with her life on the line.
Morgan, the instinctive rebel even in stiff formality, opens his mouth. "We—we were on our way to..."
"Do not speak out of turn," their father interrupts instantly, voice icy. "If you do not follow me now, you will regret it. All of you. Every single damn one of you."
Darien steps forward, putting a hand lightly on Morgan’s arm, feeling his brother’s tense energy pulse beneath his fingers.
"Obey him for now," Kairos whispers. "Let’s not start a war we can’t finish in one night."
Darien nods minutely chanting a silent reassurance. We can manage. We’ve survived worse.
The three brothers follow their father through the hall, the vast, cold expanse of the estate echoing. They step into the Alpha’s private study. The room smells of old leather and a faint hint of bourbon. The man removes his coat, tossing it over a chair with precision, then pours himself a drink. He gestures with the bottle and a cigar for Darien to light it. Darien does so carefully, feeling the heat of the flame flicker in the dark room.
Their father inhales deeply after one puff. The smoke curls around him like a shadowy cloak before he fixes his piercing gaze on them. "I heard rumors," he begins in a dangerous voice. "And I want to hear the truth. All of it."
Darien swallows. Keep calm, keep rational. Don’t give him an excuse to strike first.
He meets his father’s eyes steadily. "I don’t know how it became possible, but... we’re all fated to one girl. Her name is Heidi. She’s..." He pauses, careful not to slip a tone of emotion, "...she’s our mate."
The Alpha chuckles, but it’s not humor. It’s dark, cruel, and dangerous. He already knew who Heidi was before this.
"And you didn’t come to me first? You ran and shouted it to the pack? To the world?" His voice rises slightly at that, sharp like broken glass. "Do you know how many mouths that reached before I even heard it from my own council? You’ve sullied the family name in front of the entire pack."
Morgan shifts. "We didn’t want to keep it a secret," he says carefully, still bristling with his usual audacity.
Darien puts a hand on his shoulder—a gesture that says: Trust me. Let him speak.
He keeps his tone leveled, even as his pulse drums in his ears. "Father, we needed to make sure she was protected. It was the fastest way to..."
"Fastest way? Fastest way to make fools of yourselves!" The Alpha’s hand slams on the desk. The sound reverberates through Darien’s chest. "And now you expect me to let this slide? Let me sit quietly while you bind yourselves to a mere Moon Blessed girl? A girl cursed—or so some in the council say... fated to four sons at once?!"
Darien’s fingers curl into fists at his sides. His jaw is tight.
Kairos speaks to calm him. "Do not break, bro. Stand, but watch and listen to your old man’s words. We must learn her predators before you strike."
Thus, Darien swallows, forcing his own words out. "Father, it’s not about curses. She’s not cursed. She..." He stops himself. Every muscle tenses inside of him.
Do I risk telling him the truth? He wonders. His father’s eyes narrow, anticipating disobedience, and it feels like standing at the edge of a cliff.
"You dare..." the Alpha starts, but Morgan cuts in. "We’re not hiding it, Father. That’s it. It’s non-negotiable. You weren’t ashamed of your mate who was a rogue, so why should your sons be any different? After all, we are our fathers’ sons. Moreover, Heidi is not just a Moon Blessed. She’s strong. And she’s ours."
Wow... Darien’s jaw drops. Morgan’s guts sometimes have their perks.
The anger that shakes the Alpha comes out in the form of a roar that rumbles in the floor, in the walls, and in their very bones. "Strong? Yours? Yours? And you wish me to sit here and watch as you destroy everything I’ve built over generations for this... this abomination?"
He pauses, glaring at his boys like he might commit filicide. "Take care of her," he says finally.
Take care of her? As in...
"Oh, no. No offense, Darien, but your father is a crazy man." Kairos scoffs.
As the Alpha continues, Darien feels the words like stones dropping in his gut. "Let her be gone. Remove her. Let the bond fade. Support me. Support the family. You have no room for sentiment here."
Darien feels the room constrict around him. The air thickens.
Kairos hisses. "She’s not going anywhere, you evil man. Darien, you know it. She’s ours, all ours. Don’t you dare."
Bold of Kairos to even think he can ever consider harming Heidi. The ’don’t you dare’ was really unnecessary, Darien internally fumes.
That’s it. He’s done. He’s done holding back. Done being afraid of a Father who apparently has no ounce of nobility in him!
His eyes flare with silent fury. "We will not harm her. We will protect Heidi. Whatever it takes. Against anyone. Against you if we must."
