Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 247: Easter Egg - : The Witch, the Cat, and the Candy_3
Mory burst into flames, opened her mouth, and a pillar of fire shot towards the Necromancer Figure Club, drawing out both manipulation and adaptability.
"Manipulation, come quickly and put out the fire!"
Without further ado, Manipulation used his abilities.
"Ice Seal!"
The extreme cold magic turned the witch Mory into an ice sculpture.
Faced with the excessive actions of his own club member, Lyle didn’t know how to confront Veraliz. He had seen this cat’s complete form, one of the few who dared to lay hands on him.
Beneath Veraliz’s body, black shadows spread onto the layer of ice, enveloping Mory.
After repeatedly probing, the cat breathed a sigh of relief, "No danger, the effect of the candy is still ongoing, the ice is necessary to suppress it, Plague Doctor, your companion did a good job."
"Veraliz, aren’t you angry? The candy was from us."
"What’s there to be angry about? It’s just the effects of a candy. Do you know what candies in the Witches’ district are like? Their candies can randomly make a part of the body grow big or small, or turn into a small animal. Right now, the witches’ party must have it all. Demon Race’s candies just make one burst into flames; I can accept that," said Veraliz as her shadow turned into a rolling fountain, swallowing Mory’s ice sculpture. In Veraliz’s shadow realm, those inside were absolutely safe.
Adaptability thought of something and pulled out a bunch of pink, star-spangled candies from his pocket, and put them into Kurona’s bag.
"What kind of candy is this?"
"Headless Horseman candy. It will make your head turn into a fireball. The visual change is just an illusion; these candies were given by Dexterous. He originally planned to sell some ghost candies for Halloween, but it was banned. Because they really turn you into a ghost."
The little witch thanked Mr. Adaptability for the truly interesting candies that were not meant for one-time use.
Feeling the trip was worthwhile, the three of them and one cat waved their hands, ready to leave.
"Please wait a moment, are you planning to go door-to-door at Andrei Academy asking for candies? All the clubs?"
"Just a few, we don’t have time to enjoy that many candies." The cat seems to think of something, she pulled out a paper with two candies drawn on it and handed it to Lyle, "Plague Doctor, you’re familiar with Andrei Academy, help me check who else I should ask for candies from."
"You already have the list of Andrei Academy’s clubs? Who’s so thoughtful. Hmm... How about the Magic Research Society? Most of the members of the Magic Research Society are my seniors, like me they are students of scholar teachers, and they should be relatively easy to get along with for witches."
"The club of scholars’ students should be a good choice; it’s worth a try, thank you, Plague Doctor."
After the witches left.
"Who’s Dexterous? What did I miss while I was out?"
"A ghost who sells adult movies."
At some point in the past, the Magic Research Society’s Magic Mirror was already cancelled, so now the entrance to the Magic Research Society is just a simple, square full-body mirror.
Veraliz exchanged glances with the witches, raised her little paw pad, and tentatively patted the mirror surface. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Ripples appeared on the mirror surface, and soon after, a hand reached out from within, grabbing the frame of the mirror.
The image inside the mirror began to rotate, and the entire Mirror World behind it started spinning, eventually revealing a man dressed in all white, standing on the water.
"Hello, I’m Mr. Jing, president of the Magic Research Society." The man gave a graceful bow, his magical experience, good looks, and manners made the witches think he was a very agreeable person.
Even Kurona gained the courage to ask him for candies.
"Happy Halloween! Mr. Jing, trick or treat!"
Mr. Jing smiled slightly, "I choose trick."
"..." So much for manners.
In the image, an iron fist knocked Mr. Jing out of the frame, and he scrambled to pull the framer back into view.
"He’s joking, sisters of the Witch Council, I am Law, and we at the Magic Research Society warmly welcome you. For this occasion, we’ve specially prepared candies for you."
Law turned around, grabbed Mr. Jing, and whispered, "Call all the club members from their rooms. I hope you’ve properly notified them to prepare the candies, otherwise a grumpy scholar teacher might want to have a word with you."
Mr. Jing visibly shuddered, "I notified them! Three days ago, but I can’t be blamed if the members didn’t actively prepare."
"What are you trying to say? That you, as president, can’t even manage your own people? It would’ve been fine if the Witch Council hadn’t shown up, but now that they’re here, without candies, you’d better make some appear."
Mr. Jing waved his arm, and inside the mirror frame, several small images appeared, resembling the split-screen mode on a cell phone.
Law coughed twice, "Ahem, friends, the sisters from the Witch Council are at the Magic Research Society, have you prepared the candies for those you’ve always been longing to meet?"
No response, the small images remained silent, without a trace of sound or even a shadow.
The awkward silence turned Law’s iron mask a shade darker.
In one room, two members of the Magic Research Society were whispering to each other.
"Arcane Blast, aren’t you going to take a look? If we don’t have candies, we should at least respond to Mr. Law properly."
The one called Arcane Blast, one of the Liches, fiddled with a golden pomegranate-sized dodecahedron in his hand.
"Not going, I don’t get involved in troublesome matters, I don’t even have time for research, who would bother with Halloween."
