Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 113 - 109 For World Peace, Please Die
As the words ended, a tangle of Golden Chains appeared in the void before Aryan, the sound of the chains sliding magnified continuously in the silent tomb, reminiscent of the roaring steam train thundering on the rails.
Out of the rift, a pair of dark golden vambraces pierced through, gripping the edges of the chains, slowly prying the rift open with a force akin to moving mountains, as the entire Golden City vibrated from the spatial tear.
Lyle looked on anxiously, fearing that Mr. Raymond might collapse Naslan’s ancestral tomb.
A gap the size of a bowl appeared.
Joshua and Porifan had already transformed into their complete vampire forms, ugly bat wings protruding from their backs to shield their bodies, as their blood-red pupils tensely watched the gap in the chains.
Light.
Light with an intense shock and heat.
Light that shattered the glowing stone surfaces like glass.
Heat that caused crevices in the silvered heavens.
Within the cold tomb, a terrible temperature formed a howling, spiraling hot wind.
The gap in the chains seemed to be connected to an active volcano, which was still bubbling tumultuously.
The rift gradually widened, and the brightness intensified, so strong that Lyle couldn’t keep his eyes open.
This light seemed as if it could set a person ablaze.
In fact, the vampires had already caught fire.
Sacred flames burned on their fur, and Lyle could even hear Porifan’s pitiful cry.
The fissure was further enlarged.
The place was simply a scorching hell or perhaps the end of the world.
Finally, the gap was large enough for a person to pass through.
The dark gold greaves stepped onto the ravaged golden metal floor, all the gold softened into a mushy state.
A massive light source squeezed into the small darkness.
Raymond let out his own roar.
"Whoever you are! Daring to harm the future of the Power of Holy Light, you are doomed. I will crush you into dust and cast you into the sacred flames to burn!"
As if to validate his own words, a wave of holy light burst forth from Raymond, the powerful force flipping Lyle over, and then a rolling torrent of holy light engulfed him, feeling as if he was experiencing an avalanche.
"Mr. Raymond! Stop it!" cried Lyle, recognizing the formidable presence. "Please, your excellency, withdraw your divine powers; the enemy is nearly gone!"
Perhaps it was a voice Raymond cherished very dearly.
Raymond’s aura diminished, and he returned to that enlarged, intensified version of a light bat back at Andrei Academy.
He looked around and hurried over to help Lyle up.
"Plague Doctor, are you alright? Are you injured anywhere? Who was so rude to push you down, did you fall, are you hurt? Let me give you a full-body healing," he said anxiously.
Mr. Raymond conjured a ball of healing light and placed it atop Lyle’s head.
Raymond was a powerful Paladin, and it was well-known that the Paladin’s healing was only suitable for emergencies.
"Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!" Lyle felt as though he had been ganged up on by ten people, while Mr. Raymond watched with a satisfied face, the louder the scream, the better the healing effect seemed.
When Lyle came back to life, he was nearly out of strength.
"Plague Doctor, you’ve suffered a lot. Who did this to you? Tell me, I’ll take revenge for you," Raymond insisted.
Lyle couldn’t help but feel a welling sorrow, thinking, Mr. Raymond, if only you knew, could you kill yourself over this?
"It’s alright, Mr. Raymond, I’m fine," he managed to say.
Only then did Raymond turn to Sister Ailian, who was standing up from the ground, "Ailian, do you need my healing?"
"No need, I can do it," Ailian interjected before Raymond could respond, summoning the Power of Holy Light to cleanse herself several times.
Realizing that there was no further need for healing.
Raymond looked at Lyle, "Plague Doctor, where is the enemy?"
Lyle’s eyes, still recovering from the intense light, could only point from memory to where Joshua had once stood.
Raymond marched over furiously, but as he approached the target, his speed gradually slowed until he came to a stop right there.
Raymond touched his own chin with his hand, his voice laced with confusion and uncertainty.
"Plague Doctor, Ailian, have you been defeated... by a Dark Chicken Demon?"
What the hell? Isn’t that a vampire?
Lyle approached and saw the thing Raymond had suspected to be a Dark Chicken Demon.
A black shield like an eggshell, two bat wings ignited, ragged as if they were flesh wings, clothing burnt to ashes, the skin on the surface was the golden-red color of roasted chicken.
Under Mr. Raymond’s dramatic entrance, Porifan had already turned to ashes, and Joshua, burnt to such a state, became the "chicken demon" Mr. Raymond referred to. Lyle suspected that without the dark shield, Joshua would have had no chance of survival.
"Your Excellency Raymond, this is a vampire, a baron of the Blood Clan."
"Do you take me for a rookie Paladin, do vampire barons look like this bird?"
Lyle had no words to say.
Just then, Joshua’s dark shield shattered, revealing a medium-rare version of him. His head trembled as he lifted it, looking at Raymond in front of him.
He yelled out.
"Father!"
"!!!!!" Lyle looked at Raymond with a shocked expression, and Ailian took five steps back.
Raymond roared, "I don’t have a son like you." He then turned to look at his companions who were distancing themselves, "Really, believe me, I am not even married, let alone have offspring or an illegitimate child."
Lyle felt puzzled, so why did Joshua call out ’father’?
This question was soon answered.
The world is fair.
The Power of Holy Light can summon allies, and so can vampires.
From nowhere, shadows coalesced into a figure.
Because of Raymond’s presence, the sultry crypt suddenly became cold.
The chilling air seemed thick enough to solidify blood, and Lyle was reminded of the feeling he had when he first entered the Cassandra Cemetery, a fear rooted deep within and an instinct to flee.
It was a man with striking silver hair, his well-defined features sharp as if chiseled. In his blood-red pupils, one could foresee their own bloody demise. His face was very young, yet his eyes held an age-old look.
Looking at the tragic state of Joshua, his words carried a tone of pity, "My child."
Lyle did not know the identity of the newcomer, but he felt the vampire’s terrifed presence, as if a single glance could drain all the blood from his veins.
The vampire’s cold gaze turned toward them, noticing Raymond’s Dark Gold Armor. His eyelids seemed to twitch.
"Raymond."
Mr. Raymond’s voice became deeper than ever, seemingly tinged with a hint of weakness.
"Duke Delaries."
"Our last meeting was a long time ago, wasn’t it?"
"Yes, it was when you were still a Paladin, and now, you have become a Vampire Duke."
Nostalgia appeared in Delaries’s eyes, like an elder reminiscing the past. "Time spares no one. Raymond, are you going to kill my child?" His eyes suddenly widened with rage. "Just like you killed my eldest son in the past, your best friend."
Raymond took a small step back, "I am very sorry, Your Grace, for all that happened in the past."
Delaures turned away, his back to Raymond.
"Just like in the past, the judgement is yours to make, Melok Raymond, will you repeat history this time?"
Mr. Raymond bowed his head, his heart struggling. At last, he made a decision that was a compromise for himself.
"I will live in remorse for you and your family."
"So, this time, I still want to kill your son."
Delaures thought there was something wrong with his ears. He stopped posturing, turned his head to look at Raymond, "I must have heard wrong, say it again, Raymond."
The divine descent!
Light descended from the void onto Raymond, turning his Dark Gold Armor into dazzling white gold, immense wings of light unfurled behind him. The Power of Holy Light around him formed a vortex above his head, creating the Ring of Holy Light of an angel. Holy flames enveloped Raymond as if he were a Seraph descended to earth.
In his hands, he formed the Holy Spear of Anginus, its tip sparking flames in the void.
The aura of Holy Light surged like a landslide and tsunami all around.
"I said I will live forever in remorse towards the Loshutar Family, but still, I want to kill your vampiric offspring."
"And take you with him, Duke Delaries, since you have become a vampire. I am deeply sorry, the memories of our past friendship linger in my mind, but I still have made this painful decision. Please, let me carry the sin of slaughtering your family."
"For the peace of the world, please die."
