"Oh, crap, I just told you." the Heart Demon said gleefully.

Xiao Buli's mind raced, hoping to find a way to turn the situation around; he had no time to waste arguing with the Heart Demon. However, the situation at hand clearly gave him no room for further thought. Before he could fully rise to his feet, he felt a lightness under his feet, and the next moment, he was lifted upside-down by a giant tendril.

Xiao Buli circulated his True Qi, and a not-so-small Sunfire Spellball formed in the palm of his hand, launching towards the tendril that was wrapped around him with a bang. The tendril, seemingly less cautious than before, took the strike head-on. The area hit by the Sunfire Spellball turned immediately charred black, and the tendril seemed severely injured. Xiao Buli felt the grip around his ankle loosen, and he fell headfirst towards the ground.

Xiao Buli immediately twisted his waist, managing to turn himself around, but before he could land perfectly, he felt a tightness around his waist as his body was lifted into the air again. As the tendril retracted, despite the protection from the Heart of the Earth, Xiao Buli still felt as though his chest was about to burst open. Worst of all, two other tendrils were speeding towards him, with massive maws formed from leaves, the green juice inside looking extremely unpleasant.

Without a doubt, not only was the juice toxic, but those mouths didn't seem to be coming to kiss Xiao Buli either.

If bitten, it was likely he would end up like the Iron Corpse before him. Although Xiao Buli's health points were full, and he had the Mixed Yuan Condensing Light Shield to absorb damage, this game had special designs like crushing attacks or death upon being hit.

Once such effects were triggered, no amount of health points mattered.

With that in mind, Xiao Buli quickly equipped the Ancient Magma Barrier and charged straight towards the direction of the incoming tendrils.

The shield in his hand met the tendrils squarely, immediately triggering the Ancient Magma Barrier's Fiery Protective Ring effect.

A burst of red light flashed, and flames immediately rose, enveloping Xiao Buli. The tendrils that had extended towards him were turned to ash in the blink of an eye. They looked thick and sturdy, but that's the principle of mutual destruction for you. Xiao Buli used the same tactic on the tendril that bound him, reducing it to ashes as well.

The tightness around Xiao Buli's waist eased, and the flames from the tendrils were naturally immune to him. Divine Gear truly responded differently; a single barrier allowed Xiao Buli to easily shake off the awkward situation and land on the ground.

The other tendrils immediately rolled towards him. Perhaps these plants had no thoughts; the disintegration of their peers into ash seemed to have not imparted any wisdom. Xiao Buli wielded the Magma Barrier like a hammer, greeting the writhing tendrils like tentacles with forceful blows, and in no time, he had eradicated them all.

"How about that? Anything to worry about?" Elated by his Divine Equipment, Xiao Buli had nobody else to show off to, so he shouted at the Heart Demon instead.

"OH, NO," the Heart Demon uttered softly.

"You'd love to see me eat humble pie, wouldn't you?" Xiao Buli thought the Heart Demon was shocked by his gear, but before he could find the right words to mock him further, suddenly, a thick tendril wrapped around and lifted him entirely.

This strike came stealthily from behind Xiao Buli, who had thought that he had completely defeated those tendrils, and was caught off guard.

Looking back in midair, the tendrils he had reduced to ashes had regrown from their bases.

This was far beyond his expectations; however, luckily, these tendrils had just begun to grow and lacked the lethality of their predecessors. Xiao Buli hurriedly repeated his tactic, burning them cleanly away in a flash.

But who knew what those tendrils were made of, as they regrew once again from their bases. Nevertheless, their appearance and combat strength were clearly inferior to those of the initial plants, and moreover, they were up against a Magical Treasure from the Immortal Realm.

This time the tendrils seemed to have gotten wise and did not dare to contend with Xiao Buli again. Instead, they turned their attention to the Zombies, entwining around them.

A cold smile flashed across Xiao Buli's lips as he stood at the center of those tendrils. Sunfire Sword Qi, his hand holding the Glowing Light Sword, was enveloped by a glowing halo that turned from white to red in a blink of an eye, signifying a temperature that must be extremely high. Holding the Ancient Magma Barrier, which continued to radiate primordial flames in one hand, and a longsword that resembled a branding iron in the other, Xiao Buli stepped forward and charged at the tendrils.

Although these tendrils had strong regenerative abilities, that was limited to their tips; if cut off from the roots, Xiao Buli thought, they surely couldn't regrow.

With each swing of his sword, the Glowing Light Sword enhanced with Sunfire Sword Qi sliced through the tendrils as easily as a hot knife through butter, cutting them cleanly in two. The severed tendrils fell to the ground, twitching like dying snakes, then went still.

The remaining tendrils seemed to sense the threat and converged as if on a signal, dozens of them swooping towards Xiao Buli at once. Xiao Buli didn't dodge; instead, he used the Earth Escape Skills to half-bury himself in the ground, exposing only his upper body. The Ancient Magma Barrier in his hand protected his head from above as the tendrils burned to ashes amidst the Fiery Protective Ring, and when most of them were reduced to cinders, Xiao Buli jumped up and quickly hacked the barren stems into a pile of fragments.
