Chapter 345: Slaves Acquired - 4

Katherine removed the opaque barrier.

blink. blink

Munier blinked twice before he registered the scene in front of him. At first glance, a seemingly human females was tightly bound from toe to neck in strong vines. Two human-like feet were barely visible through the vines, heights somewhere between 5’3" and 5’6". Faces was pale from breathlessness, and finally—the ears. Long ears.

"Elves..." Munier muttered, struggling to take in the scene in front of him.

But when it finally sank in, his jaw hung wide open.

Because it wasn’t just one or two elves, but twenty!

The same wave of reaction followed all across the hall as Munier promptly collected himself and spoke.

"P-Professor! T-they are quite few in numbers, how about we talk in a private room?" he asked.

Katherine nodded, and they were directed towards a spacious room designated for special guests. It was then that he saw Lily’s hair.

"T-the 3rd-ranked fresher..." he muttered as he swiftly made the necessary arrangements. Now it made sense how they had managed to catch so many elves.

It was common knowledge that the Secret Realm mechanism protected its inhabitants from stronger beings outside, which meant only people of almost equal rank could challenge the Secret Realm. And that was the catch—since life bracelets were useless inside the realm, no one wanted to enter and risk being crippled or losing their lives.

This was true for 2-star students, 3-star students and instructors, 4-star students and assistant professors, 5-star students and professors, and even 6-star students and vice principals. No one wanted to risk their lives going inside a realm to capture beings that were almost equal to their strength.

This made capturing humanoid beings like elves, beastmen, etc., increasingly difficult, as they moved in groups, used coordinated attacks, built preset traps, retreated, hid, used weapons, and did all the things an intelligent person would do to fight back.

So unless the intruders were coordinated and anomalies like Leo and Lily, it was very difficult. An anomaly in the sense that they had very high mana reserves. Leo’s advantage came from having two souls; at just Low 4-star strength, his mana was actually in the range of High 4-star. And Lily? She was even more monstrous—having the strength of a Low 4-star while possessing mana in the range of Pseudo 5-star.

Mana monsters. That’s what people would say if they came to know this fact.

So even when the world saw them as lower in strength, they could technically never lose to their peers, i.e., the beings in the realm they were invading. But this didn’t mean they could fight higher-ranked beings. Mana only gave them an edge to last longer and use their stronger skills longer. Higher mana didn’t increase raw damage, so a higher-ranked being, even with lower mana, could still defeat them.

Huge stamina would never come into play if a person got one-shotted.

All this time, the priest was using a device to check on the elves, who were now out of their bindings and gasping for full breaths. There was no fear of rebellion in front of Katherine when she could immobilise them in a second.

"Mid 1-star Wood Elf, Mid 1-star Wood Elf, High 1-star... High 2-star.." the priest kept scanning as his eyes slowly widened.

"High 3-stars...?" he muttered after scanning Elirin.

He shook his head and continued, then came in front of Naelith, whose glare sent a chill through him. He sneered and raised his hand as if to slap. He wouldn’t allow such a glare from a slave to pass unpunished.

"You bitc—!" He was cut off when he found his hand restrained. He turned around to see Lily holding his wrist firmly.

"I am sure they are the property of the people who captured them. I am sorry, but even if they misbehave, it’s our job to discipline them. I won’t allow you to damage what belongs to me," Lily said firmly, looking directly into Munier’s eyes. But this time, the priest felt true dread as his legs began to shake.

Naelith, who had already braced herself to be slapped with gritted teeth, was taken aback, and a complicated expression formed on her face since technically Lily had defended her in a way.

Sylrael vehemently told Naelith not to do anything stupid through their thought link, which was still active, but she forgot to tell her to keep her eyes in check. This almost resulted in Naelith getting slapped, which in turn would have triggered a reaction from her and potentially led to her death.

Sylrael, who was continuously trying to calm the other elves, suddenly heard a voice in her head.

"Time’s up. I encourage your ability to remain calm and still act as a leader to your people in this situation. But now I won’t allow a single conversation between you people." A melodic voice echoed in her head, which Sylrael immediately recognised as Katherine’s.

At that moment, she felt the telepathic link she had with the other elves severed. Now, if they wanted to talk about anything, they needed to say it out loud.

Sylrael looked towards Katherine only to watch a pair of cold eyes glaring at her. This made her sweat coldly.

Munier had already lowered his hand, as Lily was technically right, and even if he didn’t like the way she addressed the situation, he wasn’t in a position to offend her.

He continued, his eyes once again widening when he realised the elf he had been about to slap was actually a Pseudo 4-star being. He quietly moved to the next person and stopped in front of Sylrael.

It wasn’t wrong to say that his blood had been pumping ever since his eyes landed on the gorgeous, helpless figures in front of him. He was almost on the verge of losing control after seeing Naelith and Sylrael and their god-like physiques, which were covered by clothes torn at various places due to the fights. But once again, he couldn’t do anything.

Tsk. If only I were capable like them... he thought, jealousy quietly growing inside him as he thought of Leo and Kaelion’s luck.
