Absolute Beast Dominion-Chapter 344: Slaves Acquired - 3
Chapter 344: Slaves Acquired - 3
Brok was startled when he caught a stray—especially from Lily—but he exhaled in relief when he realised he wasn’t being scolded. Then he turned her words over in his mind.
Now that I think about it... I have indeed taken some actions based on their advice, thinking a little help wouldn’t be harmful... he thought, then shook his head lightly. He needed to be more careful from now on.
"Big sister, I don’t—" Miho tried to say she didn’t feel, nor would she feel any indignation or such sort of feelings, but Lily cut her off.
"No, Miho. It’s not just about you," Lily said, her tone steady. "Right now, we have a small number of territory members thats why it’s not much of a problem, but things need to be structured from now on for us to be stable in the future." She concluded.
Though she wanted to say more, she held herself back. She would do that in their private session. Scolding a person in authority would bring their value down, and besides, she didn’t like saying these things to him—especially when she could master these aspects herself and fill in the gaps. This would also guarantee that Leo would depend on her, even if only a little, and wouldn’t have to carry all the burden alone. With that in mind, she spoke again.
"Though I am sure he just didn’t pay attention to these because of the immediate pressing matters like the competition, absorbing treasures, and the bounty," she added. The others nodded along. Just like that, she once again raised Leo’s credibility in their eyes—especially when they were reminded how swiftly he had acted to secure combat slaves to protect their territory the moment he heard about the bounty just yesterday evening.
"Hm, as expected of the vice-leader of the territory. You indeed have keen eyes. As a reward for having observed these, I will let you take the lead on these matters." Leo said, a faint smile tugging at his lips, as if pointing out his flaws was something worthy of reward—when in reality, the reward only shifted more burden onto the one who pointed them out.
But for Lily, this was different. She got what she wanted and accepted the role with a blooming smile.
Even if it was little and meaningless to actual survival in combat, Leo had relied on her. She couldn’t be happier.
Does she not know I can feel her emotions? Leo shook his head, smiling faintly. Watching her antics was cute—especially when she acted all tough on the outside while the reason behind it was something so soft.
He knew he was going to get a lot of peppering in their ’nightly routine’ just because she had gone a little harsh on him now.
Hmmm... I guess late night.
It was already reaching 1 AM, and they still needed to go through the necessary process to acquire the elves.
As they made their way to the fresher temple region, people naturally stepped aside after noticing the yellow badge on Katherine’s robe.
"Hey, what are they covering inside that big dome?" someone whispered to his friend, voice low.
"Feels like they are trying to hide something..."
People quickly noticed that the group accompanying her had the top 3 individuals among them. Naturally, the first to be recognised was Lily, with her outstanding hair colour, followed by Kaelion, and then Leo.
Whispers spread, and as the group headed towards the temple’s slave market, people began connecting the dots.
"I bet they have other race members hiding inside the dome that they are planning to sell—or maybe keep them."
"Yeah. And the way they are hiding it, I’m pretty sure it must be some ugly goblins or low-level orcs." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"What can you expect now? These nobles only know how to fight ’safe’ matches without the threat of death. I’m 100% sure the professor must have intervened once or twice to save them from those goblins too."
Leo’s group didn’t react to any of it, even though every word reached their ears clearly. There would always be people who talked shit.
Making their way in, they arrived at the slave market area. The same scene greeted them—edges lined with student stalls selling various items, people coming and going to acquire and sell slaves, and other races standing in quiet despair. Though Lily and Miho were new to this area, they took the environment quite calmly. As if the ways of the beast world have started to seep into them.
Since the slave market was a common area for all—every term student, academy staff, and residents within the academy region—it remained bustling day and night.
Once again, due to the presence of a professor, no trouble arose, and they finally made their way to the area behind the priest counters, where new people were turned into slaves.
Seeing Leo’s group, a 4-star priest approached them. The real reason, however, was the presence of a high-profile professor among them, along with the large, opaque dome of magic. It was obvious they had come to bind or sell newly acquired other race members as slaves.
And if all were to be turned at once, he might even receive a bonus from the temple for his ’hard work’ in finding opportunities to turn people into slaves and, in turn, help humanity.
Though he still wasn’t quite sure how turning other races would help humanity, who was he to question it when the pay was generous?
"Hello, I am an official priest of the temple—Munier. Nice to meet you, Professor Katherine and..." He turned toward Leo and the others, his gaze briefly sweeping over them.
"New students. How may I help you?" he asked, though internally he sighed after realising they were just freshers. That likely meant the captured beings were low-ranked, and their race underdeveloped—probably orcs or goblins.
No wonder I somehow approached first... others must have already been deterred from needless labour.
If the race being turned into slaves was not well-developed, like goblins—who were obviously less developed than elves—the priest’s work earned little credit. These were common, brought in by the hundreds or thousands each day. But dwarves, elves, merfolk, and the like added far more credit—and thus, far greater bonuses.
Since the act of turning someone into a slave required the same effort regardless of race, the difference in reward between a goblin and an elf was obvious. Working on goblins was like doing needless labour for minimal pay, when the same effort elsewhere could yield 100x returns.
But since Munier had already shot himself in the foot by approaching first, he couldn’t back out now—especially not with a notable figure like Katherine accompanying them.
Katherine flicked her fingers, and the dome vanished with a soft ripple in the air.
