Chapter 411: 411 ’dog species

[Donald’s Perspective]

A mass of monsters was piled up, blocking the entrance to the cave. Their wolfish eyes revealed nothing but the unsettling whites, devoid of any rational thought. Drool, disgusting enough to induce nausea, hung from their gaping maws, making them look like dogs guarding the ’gate’ for Henry!

I slowly narrowed my eyes, a dangerous signal rising within them.

Elliot and Benjamin quickly got behind me, positioning themselves protectively on either side. Christian seemed to come to his senses only then, stepping back with his gun and bending over as he spoke to me in a grave tone, "Please forgive us, Your Majesty. We lost track of the enemy around the outskirts of this forest!"

As he spoke, a flicker of guilt briefly crossed his face. I raised my hand and patted his shoulder, signaling him to continue.

Christian straightened his back and continued, "I led the two remaining Lycans into the woods and we were lured here by two creatures! We clashed with the creatures, but strangely, besides those two, the group blocking the cave entrance didn’t make a move."

"They seemed mindless and unaffected by the agonized howls of their kind during the fight. I’m not sure if it counts as good news, but fortunately they didn’t react; otherwise, the three of us couldn’t have held out until you arrived, Your Majesty!"

The two Lycans previously led by Christian were lost, which certainly wasn’t good news. Yet luckily, he and the other two were alive and had discovered this bizarre cave.

I withdrew my gaze from the cave entrance and looked at Christian, who had finished his report. "Did you see any trace of others?"

Christian shook his head, his brows quickly furrowing.

He clearly realized how irregular the situation was. Austin had taken an unconscious Margaret, and Martha’s forces included much of King Lington’s battered remnants. They couldn’t possibly have completed their retreat so quickly; there must be something we didn’t know behind all this!

What Christian had considered, of course, I hadn’t overlooked either. I turned sideways to look at Charlie next to me, thought for a moment, then spoke in a subdued voice, "Have the Lycans on the helicopter expand the search area. I suspect they’re hiding in this forest. Move quickly!"

With a slight nod, Charlie gripped his command communicator and began issuing orders.

"Roar!"

Suddenly, one of the monsters lying in front of us cried out. It struggled as if trying to stand again, but Christian and the other two Lycans had inflicted heavy wounds on it. Its slender hind legs couldn’t support its excessively strong front body, and after stumbling a bit, it fell to the ground again!

I coldly watched this scene, a frigid murderous intent rising in my eyes.

I glanced at the helicopter hovering overhead, unworried by the wind tousling my hair. I made a gesture to the Lycan inside the cabin to use the heavy machine gun to clear out the monster and that disgusting group at the cave entrance!

I took the lead and stepped back a few paces, not bothering to lift my head as I fiddled with the gun in my hand, completely ignoring the wall of monsters behind me being pulverized into a bloody mess by the formidable firepower.

Perhaps the scent of their comrades’ blood had ignited their will because the creatures at the back of the cave entrance suddenly started to move. They howled, attempting to surge out from inside, with their sights set on us, not far from the cave entrance.

I glimpsed this scene from the corner of my eye, sneered, and didn’t retreat even half a step. With such formidable firepower overhead, these monsters couldn’t get anywhere near me.

No matter how frightfully they howled, they were ultimately shredded by the helicopter’s gunfire.

The scene was somewhat revolting. I shifted my gaze to Charlie, who also looked up at me at that moment and shook his head without saying a word.

I furrowed my brows, my irritation and anger bubbling once again. Despicable and cunning Henry—what kind of sinister schemes has he concocted this time? It was truly distressing and aggravating to have Margaret under his control like this.

Monstrous beings in wolf form continued to emerge incessantly from the cave. I watched coldly, eager to know just how many werewolves Henry had subjected to such inhumane ’transformations’?

Calling it ’transformation’ was actually just turning them into mindless, pain-unaware killing machines. Levi was right to call Henry a mad devil. The madman was indeed terrifying.

I was reflecting on this when I suddenly noticed a sharp glint of cold light approaching from the corner of my eye. I pushed Benjamin next to me aside and barely sidestepped in time!

"Your Majesty, take care!"

"Your Majesty!"

"It’s an ambush! They’re rushing over from the forest on our left! Everyone, on guard, protect the king!"

I narrowly avoided the sharp claw, and when I looked back, my pupils couldn’t help but dilate a bit!

I decided to correct my previous moniker for that heap of flesh, for what appeared before our eyes just a second ago was the true monster!
