Chapter 396: 396 Bone Flute

[Donald’s Perspective]

Through the bulletproof specialty glass window, I stared at the mist in front of me and fell into deep thought before slowly responding, "That old fisherman was nearly scared to death by Benjamin, it’s unlikely that he lied. This proves that our general direction is correct, and this should be the last checkpoint. Once we get through here, we’ll be able to see the ’gate’ to Poisonous Snake Island."

Upon hearing this, Elliot nodded but his brow remained furrowed, "So, what do we do next? The fisherman said this is the deepest he’s ever gone, he doesn’t know the way beyond this point."

I turned my head toward Christian, who was standing to one side, and said in a soft voice, "Bring that guy over, we’ll have to rely on him to lead the way from here."

Elliott, unaware of our recent skirmish with the ’pirates,’ turned his head as well toward the silent Christian.

The personal guard captain nodded and turned to leave.

Seeing this, I let out a sigh and addressed Benjamin below, "You didn’t kill the man just now, did you? He should be able to lead the way, shouldn’t he?"

Upon hearing this, Benjamin immediately stood up from his chair and replied respectfully, "Your Majesty, I didn’t! Although that person’s mouth was somewhat difficult to ’pry open,’ our Medical Practitioners always have their ways. He’ll lead us well, rest assured."

I was certain I saw excitement in Benjamin’s eyes, and thinking of his maniacal obsession with the werewolf’s physique, I slightly curled the corner of my mouth and diverted my gaze, thinking to myself: Falling into Benjamin’s hands is just your bad luck, but you should feel fortunate to make your own ’contribution’ to the genius Medical Practitioner’s medical endeavors!

A few minutes later, Elliott saw the ’pirate’ leader who had collapsed on the ground, yet was exceptionally lucid.

"He’s in this state, can he still lead us?" Elliott asked somewhat skeptically as he looked at him.

Benjamin crouched down, making eye contact with the ’pirate’ leader, and patted his face while replying to Elliott’s question, "I gave him an injection of Truth Potion, something often used during military interrogations as well, it works quite well, don’t worry."

As he spoke, he turned the man’s face toward him to look him in the eyes, "How does one get through the misty area of Poisonous Snake Island?"

"Bone Flute. Use the Bone Flute to summon schools of fish to lead the way," the man replied.

"What Bone Flute? Where is it?" Benjamin pressed.

The man’s expression was vacant, his eyes filled with red veins, and blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, as if bitten by his own wolfish teeth!

Seeing the man’s resilience, Benjamin furrowed his brow and quipped forcefully, "Where is the Bone Flute? Speak!"

"In... in the pocket on the chest of my underwear! Ah!" He cried out as though experiencing extreme agony, arching his body and screaming.

Benjamin, unblinking, reached deftly into the man’s clothes and retrieved the so-called Bone Flute, then turned and handed it to me with both hands.

No one paid attention to the enemy lying on the ground in agony and despair; we all knew this was the retribution he deserved.

I raised my hand and took the Bone Flitte, its body dark and glossy, its bone structure tight and firm. It wasn’t clear which animal’s bones it was made of. But since the man claimed it could summon a school of fish to lead the way, it shouldn’t be anything ordinary.

Seeing that I was about to blow the Bone Flute, Elliott and Christian almost simultaneously suggested, "Let me do it, Your Majesty!"

Realizing their thoughts had coincided, Christian was the first to recover, stepping forward respectfully, "After we land on the island, Your Majesty will have to command the battle personally. This object doesn’t look simple, dark and not known from which animal’s bone it’s made of; just in case, let me blow it."

Seeing this, Elliott’s raised hand slowly fell, and his gaze toward the Bone Flute tightened.

Benjamin glanced at Elliott, then at Christian, before finally settling his gaze on my hand, "Just now, after revealing the Bone Flute, the man showed signs of severe pain, a direct effect of the Truth Potion. The more pain he’s in, the more important the secret is to him—it’s unlikely he’s deceiving us!"

Benjamin continued, taking the Bone Flute back and after looking at me, added, "I’ll do it, Your Majesty. I am more familiar with these things."

I did not speak, just watching as he slowly furrowed his brow.

Strangely enough, when Benjamin puffed his cheeks and blew into the Bone Flute, there was no sound to be heard in the cabin, silent except for our breathing and heartbeats.

After blowing for about 2 minutes, I signaled for Benjamin to stop, frowning in silence.

"What’s going on? There’s no sound at all? Did that guy break it, can it be fixed?" Elliott expressed his confusion with a puzzled look, his eyes seeking answers from Benjamin. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Benjamin glanced at him, then turned back to me.

"Could it be a matter of special sound frequencies?" I asked, though I was already sure of the conjecture.

"Possible!" Benjamin nodded, and after thinking a moment, explained to Elliott, "Just because we can’t hear doesn’t mean there is no sound, it might be that the frequency is outside our range of hearing, it’s not meant for us to hear."
