Chapter 371: Premonition of 371 Brand?

[Margaret’s perspective]

While Brand was silently working on his own, he looked at me after hearing my question and whispered, "No, their ropes are so rough that I almost managed to break them!"

Seeing this, I fell silent and lent an ear to help Brand listen for any sounds outside the room.

Fortunately, no one came during that time, and Brand quickly untied the ropes. He knelt on the hay and slowly crawled toward me, and only then did I fully see all the wounds on his face.

"Oh my God, Brand, how could they beat you like this? Does it hurt? How could these beasts be so cruel to both you and Lisa!" I said with furrowed brows and a pained expression, looking at Brand with compassion.

Brand was helping me untie the ropes around my wrists. After hearing me, he gave a light laugh as if to soothe my emotions.

He nonchalantly said, "It only looks worse than it is. I’m not in pain at all. There, I’ve untied your ropes. Remember to hide when they come in later; don’t let them see you!"

As Brand spoke, he looked at me as if he had just noticed the wound on my forehead. "Margaret, you’re hurt too! Your forehead is still bleeding. Doesn’t it hurt? You can’t go on like this, we need to find a way to get them to treat your wound, or you’ll lose too much blood."

Only when Brand mentioned my wound did I start to feel the pain again. I bit my lip and stopped Brand from calling out for help, hurrying to say, "Don’t bring them here; I can handle this wound myself."

While speaking, I took off my soaked coat and tore a strip of cloth from the hem of my skirt. Lacking anything to disinfect or stop the bleeding, I folded it and pressed it directly onto my forehead to prevent further exposure and somewhat stem the bleeding.

Fortunately, the room was not drafty, and it was still possible to keep warm.

After settling down, I turned back to look at the silent Brand. Recalling some past events, I then asked, "When we left White Rose Manor yesterday, did you have something you wanted to tell me? You were hesitating; did you have a premonition of the attack that happened later?"

Brand stiffened for a moment upon hearing this, then shook his head and responded, "No, I just suddenly remembered what my dad had said."

The young man turned his head to look at me and continued, "Yesterday, when my sister and I were going out, he reminded us to be careful. He said that Lilo Sea has been quite unrestful recently and didn’t want us running around everywhere. I just wanted to tell you about that, not that I had a premonition about the attack."

I listened and nodded, deciding not to ask further.

Too much had happened since last night, and after Brand quieted down, I felt rather tired myself, utterly exhausted and hungry.

I looked up at the window where the light was coming in, trying to discern the current time, just as footsteps approached the house!

Sensing someone coming, I quickly said to Brand, "Someone’s coming, hide the ropes behind you."

As soon as these words fell, the door was flung open from the outside, light flooding in. I turned my head and shut my eyes, taking a moment to adapt before I looked up.

It was a werewolf I did not recognize. He glanced at Brand lying on the floor and then shifted his gaze to me, "Get this woman out, the miss wants to see her first."

I didn’t know who he was referring to as the miss, but from his commanding demeanor toward the other werewolves, it wasn’t hard to tell that the miss was of noble status.

"Where are you taking her? Let her go, come at me instead if you need something." Brand couldn’t help but speak up to stop them, but these people clearly weren’t going to listen to him!

I looked at Brand and shook my head, signaling him not to provoke these people, but by then it was already too late to remind him.

The werewolf who had spoken saw Brand speak up, snorted coldly, and then looked at him, "You’re pretty caring for such a young age, eh? Hasn’t anyone ever told you not to meddle in things that don’t concern you?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

With that, the werewolf stepped forward and stomped on Brand, a mocking sneer on his face, "Take this kid too. The miss might be more pleased seeing how protective he is of that woman!"

After hearing the werewolf’s comment, Brand stopped struggling. Seeing him at that moment, I knew he was worried about me being taken away alone; he deliberately spoke up to provoke these people, hoping to be taken with me.

I took a gentle breath, withdrawing my gaze from Brand, feeling partly reassured yet helpless.

After we were led out of the cabin, Brand and I were blindfolded and thrown into a car, which rattled along, seemingly over a rocky path.

About half an hour later, the car finally stopped, and I was dragged into a building by several strong hands onto a smooth, wooden floor with a pleasant fruit aroma in the air.
