Chapter 363: 363 Ruth’s Betrayal

[Donald’s Perspective]

"Ruth? Indeed, if I remember correctly, Your Highness had indeed asked her to contact Christian and you when she left the manor, but that was around 10 o’clock, wasn’t it? Are you sure you didn’t get the time wrong?" Mark seemed to think that the time Eric mentioned was not quite right and asked directly.

However, I noticed an even more important point, I sat up straight and looked at Mark, saying, "Are you stating that Margaret had already tried to contact me immediately? Then why hasn’t Christian received any news at all? Where is Ruth now?"

"What did you say? The captain didn’t receive the call from Ruth? That’s impossible, I distinctly heard the Lycan Queen instruct her!" Upon hearing this, Mark asked back loudly, his eyes full of confusion about the matter.

I didn’t immediately answer his question but instead, Christian, who had been standing by, defended himself, "I didn’t receive any message from Ruth, even the sudden attack on the manor was reported to me by the manor’s guard, Lycan!"

He then turned his head towards me, thought for a moment, and continued, "Your Majesty, if neither Mark nor Eric are lying, then there’s only one possibility left."

I knew what Christian meant by ’possibility,’ but I somewhat didn’t want to believe it, and I remained silent for a while without speaking.

Eric then directly looked at me, his hands gripping tightly on the arms of his wheelchair, veins bulging, he said coldly, "It’s Ruth, she’s the one meddling in the middle!"

Suddenly hearing Eric’s conclusion, everyone in the room turned their heads towards him, their expressions changing, as if they had heard something astonishing.

"Isn’t this Ruth just Margaret’s maid? How could she... how could she ruthlessly betray Margaret like this?" Gino spoke with some confusion, his speech slowing down as if he found this conclusion somewhat cruel.

"I didn’t misremember the time, and Mark didn’t mishear the Lycan Queen’s orders back then! It’s Ruth, she’s the traitor who leaked our whereabouts to the enemy." Eric snorted coldly, and a crimson red flashed in his eyes.

He widened his eyes slightly as he looked at me, without any pause, he continued, "Your Highness had already foreseen these issues before the accident occurred. She mentioned back then that there was a mole among us, and unfortunately, I didn’t realize at first that she was referring to Ruth! Your Majesty, it was my oversight, please punish me!"

After listening to Eric’s analysis, I didn’t show any surprise; I had already guessed as much beforehand.

I just looked at him somewhat helplessly, pressed my temples, and said in a deep voice, "Is this the time for you all to apologize and ask for punishment? I just want to know one thing, where is Ruth now? Has anyone been paying attention to her whereabouts?"

As I said the last sentence, I almost gritted my teeth, spitting out every word, at this moment, I no longer cared about a mere maid’s betrayal, I just wanted to know where this traitor was.

Ruth had come out of the Silver Moon Pack with Margaret and saying that she was one of Margaret’s most trusted people wasn’t an overstatement. Margaret treated her so well, I don’t understand why she would betray Margaret!

Just like I previously couldn’t understand why Austin would betray me.

I glanced at the expressions on my Lycan’s faces, and finally, my gaze returned to Eric, if I were correct in my guess, he was the last person to have seen Ruth.

Seemingly intimidated by my gaze, Eric swallowed and then replied, "Your Majesty, Ruth had retreated together with the other Lycans from the manor, she should be here now."

"Hmm, so where is she? Go bring her to me!" I said, roaring out loud, the coldness in my eyes as if it could freeze someone to death.

Upon hearing my command, a Lycan at the door dashed out, with Christian following closely behind.

At this moment, Gino stood up and looked at me, saying outright, "Only now reacting to capture someone, could Ruth have already run away?"

The answer to Gino was silence because I didn’t know the answer to this question either; the room was extremely quiet for a time, as if even a dropping pin could be heard.

To Gino’s surprise, Ruth had not run away in advance; she even showed no surprise or astonishment on her face when several Lycans escorted her in, not even fear or dread!

I narrowed my eyes dangerously at her, remaining silent for quite some time before speaking, "If you still have a shred of conscience, then tell me who set up tonight’s scheme, or maybe say who was behind that incredibly strong monster?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Margaret can’t withstand any strain or exertion now, you’re well aware of that. And this is the only chance I’m giving you, I hope you appreciate it. Don’t waste my time and effort."

Ruth had no reaction after I finished speaking the first part, standing there like a wooden stake, hollow and unfeeling.

But as I mentioned Margaret, slight fluctuations appeared on her face, and then she knelt down, covering her face and crying bitterly!
