Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 331 missing Licia
[Margaret’s Perspective]
Ruth told me that Donald would come over after he finished handling his affairs, but even after I finished the food on my plate and sat in the chair, letting the sea breeze blow over me for a long, long time, he never appeared in my sight.
I lightly shook the feather fan in my hand, thought for a moment, then stood up, "Has something else happened over there? Let’s go have a look."
After finishing my sentence, I picked up my skirt and walked out, with Ruth closely following behind me.
The meeting room was not far from mine and Donald’s bedroom. Ruth stepped forward to knock on the door for me, and when I entered, all eyes in the room fell on me.
I swept my gaze over everyone present with some confusion, then finally rested my eyes on Donald who was on the sofa, "What’s happened? Why does everyone look so upset? Has something happened?"
Standing closest to Donald were Louis and Mark. They looked down at me with serious and grave expressions on their faces, and I had a sense of foreboding as I looked at Donald’s face and came to a halt.
"Christian just contacted me, saying they were attacked by an unknown force on Cele Island, and their mission failed!"
Under my scrutiny, Donald didn’t stay silent for long. He let out a light sigh and spoke with a tone of impatience and frustration.
I widened my eyes in surprise and quickly closed my fan, asking directly, "Is Licia hurt? How badly? Where exactly are they now? How is Christian dealing with this?"
After hearing my questions, Donald furrowed his brows, lowered his head slowly, and rubbed his tense face, speaking in a hoarse voice, "Licia... Mother is missing! Christian said that the main goal of the attackers was Mother, their plan to abduct her was meticulous and well-executed, bringing people who were all exceptional in combat and armed with formidable weapons. Only three Lycans that Christian took with him are left."
"He has already urgently ordered the werewolf packs on the island to help search, but so far, there has been no response."
Donald briefly recapped the situation reported by Christian, his handsome face relaxed slightly after the rubbing, he looked up at me, softened his voice, and asked slowly, "How about you? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Hearing his words, I simply shook my head, not even remembering the slight discomfort I had felt earlier, "Sending Licia back to the Royal City was a sudden decision made by the two of us; there shouldn’t be any issue of leaking information, right? The helicopter from Cele Island that Christian contacted is also one of our own. So where did these sudden attackers get their information from?"
"Are they aware of Licia’s identity, and what is their purpose in directly abducting Licia? Is it to threaten us? Do these people belong to Henry, or someone else?"
As I spoke, I paced slowly to where Donald was, looking at him with a face full of doubts and concern.
Donald didn’t answer my questions immediately, and the room fell into a moment of complete silence.
After some thought, I sighed with some dismay and raised my hand to gently pat Donald’s shoulder, saying, "Perhaps I was really wrong, I shouldn’t have thought to send Licia back like that. The current situation is chaotic and dangerous; it’s safer for her to stay close to us, at least you wouldn’t always have to worry about her like this."
When Donald looked up at me after hearing what I said, his eyes were full of disagreement. He stood up, touching the back of my head with his large hand, and said warmly, "This matter isn’t your fault, don’t worry needlessly. Those people clearly came prepared, and they definitely won’t stop until they reach their goal. There is no problem with our plan, so there is no need for self-blame."
"Besides, given the current situation where dangers lurk everywhere, there is no absolutely safe place. If they can attack our small squad for the first time, they’d dare to boldly attack us the next time; Licia following us doesn’t bring any benefits."
Speaking of which, Donald seemed to think of something, a trace of sarcasm flashed in his eyes, and he continued, "Perhaps Licia’s current situation is even safer than ours, since she has always been protecting Henry, and Henry is not ungrateful enough to be a monster."
I held Donald’s hand, feeling a bit distressed. After thinking for a while, I spoke up softly with a furrowed brow, trying to comfort him, "If that’s the case, at least Licia isn’t in any immediate danger at this moment. Don’t worry too much, let Christian continue the search."
Donald looked down at me, his eyes showing a tender look, he let out a small laugh before continuing, "I’m glad to have you always by my side, otherwise I really don’t know what I would do. Too many things have been happening lately."
"It’s alright, everything will get better! You are our omnipotent Lycan King, there is nothing that can stump you, Donald. And besides, you have me and so many teammates with you, we will definitely overcome all difficulties and complete our mission."
