Chapter 328: 328 Shared Lunch

[Margaret’s Perspective]

While we were changing our mode of transportation by the shores of Mol Lake, Licia sharply realized that Elliot had disappeared. She stood on the other side of me and Donald, her expression changing unpredictably, seemingly lost in thoughts.

Feeling a warm, large hand grasping mine, I came back to my senses and looked towards Donald, who gave a light smile before speaking directly, "It’s not a solution to keep being dragged by Licia like this. We need to think of a way to send her back to the Royal City."

"You’re right, the journey to Lilo Sea could be dangerous, and having her with us would only distract me and slow all of us down." Donald gripped my hand, nodded, and earnestly agreed with me.

Blinking at him, I suppressed my voice and asked, "You’ve been quiet and uninquiring all this way, I thought you didn’t care much about Licia. Though her methods aren’t exactly straightforward, when you think about it, they are understandable. Licia, caring so much about Martha’s only bloodline, probably won’t let you actually execute Henry."

Donald gave a somewhat indignant snort upon hearing this, glancing over at Licia who was behind us, and responded quietly, "We would need to actually catch Henry for that. I truly had no idea her relationship with Henry was so profoundly mixed; it really shocked me."

Looking at Donald’s face, bearing a restrained yet very helpless expression, I found it slightly amusing yet also somewhat bitter. What a mess this all was!

I took Donald by the hand in return and led him towards the cruise ship, "Okay, don’t think too much now. Later, I will invite Licia, and the three of us can have lunch together tomorrow noon! No matter the cause of concern, we must still eat."

Upon hearing this, Donald seemed to have thought of something. He looked down at me with a flash of insight in his eyes. I smiled softly without saying more, highly trusting in the tacit understanding between us.

The next day at noon, on the open-air deck of the cruise ship.

"Once you have set up the dining tables, you may leave. If I need anything, I will call for you." I said, fluttering the beautiful feather fan in my hand slightly, frowning a bit, and gesturing for the maids and chefs to leave.

I didn’t know what was going on, but since we boarded the cruise ship the day before, I had been feeling subtly uncomfortable, and I hadn’t slept well last night either.

The sea breeze, mingled with sunlight from where the umbrella couldn’t shield, crept in and brushed across my face, making me feel a bit better. Thinking that Donald and Licia would still need a while to arrive, I walked towards the nearby bow of the ship, wanting to enjoy the sea breeze.

The Silver Moon Pack is rooted deep in the forest and, although the several lakes there are not small, they certainly can’t compare to the real ocean. So in the strictest sense, this was my first time seeing the real ocean!

No wonder humans enjoy traveling, appreciating different landscapes and cultures. Who could truly resist such a beautiful sea?

"It’s really beautiful." I took a deep breath, leaned on the railing looking out at the sea, and murmured with delight.

"You’ve been down all morning, what’s wrong? Are you seasick?"

As I was enveloped in a warm and broad embrace, Donald’s gentle and mellow voice echoed in my ear.

I nestled closer into his embrace, and without turning my head, I softly replied, "It’s nothing serious, probably just a bit of seasickness. Why have you come here alone, where is Licia?"

"She’s behind, seems a bit unwell too. I just had Benjamin check on her. She should be here soon."

Upon hearing this, I turned to look at Donald and quietly shared my immediate plan, "Cele Island and the Lilo Sea gateway isn’t far from here. Once Licia falls asleep, we can have a speedboat take her across, and from the gateway, a helicopter can go directly to the Royal City. Christian has planned everything, don’t worry."

Donald looked into my eyes, kissed my lips lightly, and responded, "I’ve always been confident in your decisions."

I laughed upon hearing this, blinking as I teased, "Really? I hope you don’t think I’m trying to ’sell’ Licia."

Donald laughed at this moment too, as if he found my way of speaking very amusing, "Licia is not as simple as you think. I’ll cooperate with you later."

I certainly wouldn’t think of the Empress Dowager of the Wolf royal family as a simple and foolish person. Licia had never been one to be manipulated easily. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Lunch finally started after a delay of 15 minutes. Licia, looking across at Donald and me, lifted her hand only to set it back down on the water glass beside her without immediately drinking.

"Doesn’t this contain something untoward?" Licia asked.

I was a bit surprised by her directness today, paused, and then looked up at her before replying after a moment, "If I say no, would you believe me?"

At this, Licia slightly narrowed her eyes, her face darkening a bit as she gently pushed away the glass filled with water.
