Chapter 319: 319 Elizabeth’s decision

[Margaret’s Perspective]

I think the kind Moon goddess must have heard my prayers before, because after nearly an hour of waiting, we finally received news from the ICU that Benjamin was not too bad!

After they injected Anthony with that drug, his vital signs began to improve at an extremely slow pace, but after half an hour of close observation, the wounds on Anthony’s body began to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye.

It was like a miracle.

Later, Donald and I watched the complete record of the treatment process, and I was pleasantly surprised by our initial success. This time, Anthony was literally snatched back from the clutches of death by the collective power of the entire Werewolf Royal Family, including Donald and me.

Because of the unparalleled specialty of the drug, after Benjamin emerged from the ward, he seriously suggested to Donald that they should immediately move Anthony to their laboratory for further observation.

At the same time, to avoid any other unforeseen changes, they needed to intervene and treat Anthony in the lab as soon as possible.

Donald and I naturally wouldn’t oppose such a suggestion, knowing it was all for Anthony’s quick recovery.

As for Elizabeth, the other person concerned on the scene, she certainly wouldn’t refuse. In her words, she would do anything as long as it would allow Anthony to continue living in this world.

Anthony was quickly taken away by Benjamin’s arrangements, and looking at Elizabeth, who couldn’t snap back to reality at the entrance of the elevator, I thought for a while and then spoke in a gentle voice, "The current situation is a blessing in disguise. With Benjamin and the many doctors of the Holy Medical Pavilion taking care of him, Anthony will definitely be alright. Don’t worry."

"Besides, you yourself have not yet healed from your injuries. You need to listen to the doctors and nurses, heal your wounds first, because even if Anthony wakes up, you won’t be in condition to really take care of him. Do you think I’m right, Elizabeth?"

Upon hearing this, Elizabeth came back to her senses and looked at me, her eyes shining with determination as she nodded and responded firmly, "You’re right, Margaret. I’ll get better as soon as I can!"

As she spoke, it seemed like she remembered something, and a look of concern slowly appeared on her face. She then added, "But will it be convenient for outsiders to enter and leave Benjamin’s research institute? I mean, when it’s time for me to go in and care for Anthony, will it interfere with their work?"

Seeing the passionate and sincere emotions in the depths of Elizabeth’s eyes, how could I not understand her dedication to Anthony?

I smiled knowingly and assured her, "Don’t worry, I’ll go in with you when the time comes. They surely won’t keep me out, will they?"

With a satisfying answer, a smile finally appeared on Elizabeth’s face. I chuckled and gestured to the nurse behind us to take Elizabeth back to her room; she needed care and rest just as much at this point.

Only after everyone in the hallway had left did Donald wrap an arm around my waist, lean down, and ask in a low voice, "What were you laughing about just now?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Doesn’t Elizabeth seem a bit too concerned about Anthony? Even when Armstrong left earlier, she didn’t seem so worried. If I didn’t know for sure she was the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack, I’d nearly believe she and Anthony were the intimately close lovers."

On hearing this, I looked up at my mate, and after several seconds, I softly and tenderly explained, "Then you might not know that before becoming Armstrong’s Luna, Elizabeth and Anthony were considered by everyone in our pack to be a pair."

I said this and raised my hand to hook around Donald’s neck, drawing myself even closer to him, and sighed before continuing, "Maybe it was fate playing tricks. Later, during our coming-of-age ceremony, Armstrong and Elizabeth suddenly found out they were predestined mates for each other, and she and Anthony..."

"Slowly returned to the relationship they had as children. To put it in human terms, then Anthony is Elizabeth’s most loyal and dependable Knight. When it comes to concern for Elizabeth, Anthony might even surpass Armstrong. The recent surprise attack by the Rebels on the Silver Moon Pack shows that even when Anthony faced death, he wouldn’t want Elizabeth to be harmed."

"Remember, Donald, he once turned down your offer because a big part of him couldn’t bear to leave Elizabeth. Even if he couldn’t become my sister’s lifelong mate, he still preferred to guard her for his whole life."

As I recount these past events, Donald has already embraced me and slowly started walking away from the Holy Medical Pavilion.

He had a focused expression on his face; he was listening to my words attentively.

I let out a slight sigh and buried my face in his chest, then added, "I’m not saying Armstrong isn’t good to Elizabeth, but I just feel they could both have better options. Are we always right to choose to be with our predestined mates?"

I knew my statement might sound absurd and amusing, but what I had observed in Elizabeth and Anthony made me question the instincts we had always followed.
