Chapter 317: 317 Growth

[Margaret’s Perspective]

Half an hour ago, the head of the Holy Medical Pavilion, Andrew, had already explained Anthony’s condition to Elizabeth and me in detail. Now, saving Anthony is really, really difficult!

I also know that making such a request to Donald now is very unreasonable, but I really can’t accept a friend just leaving me like this, especially someone as good as Anthony. And another most important reason is because of my twin sister Elizabeth.

Her feelings for Anthony are so complicated and profound; I don’t want her to live the latter half of her life in constant guilt and regret over this.

At this time, Elizabeth also looked up at Donald, her beautiful eyes red and swollen from crying, and the wounds on her face and body made her look utterly pitiful and disheveled.

Perhaps it’s because of the twin thing, but I could almost empathize with her pain. With my eyes red, I looked toward Donald, hoping that my God-like mate could help my poor sister once more.

Donald raised his hand to caress my face, looking at me with a hint of heartache in his eyes. His palm was warm and dry; the touch made me feel slightly better.

"We do have one more method to try, but it involves some risks, a kind of ’all-or-nothing’ gamble! If we win, we could still save Anthony’s life. If we lose, then there’s truly no hope left for him," Donald said softly.

Surprised by his words, I subconsciously blurted out, "What method? What do we need to do?"

Only then did I notice another gaze coming from beside Donald. It was from Benjamin.

Donald didn’t answer my question immediately, but, like me, shifted his gaze to Benjamin before continuing, "Benjamin and the scholars at the research institute have successfully modified the MASTER’s potion. It’s the same one that healed Angel’s physical injuries so quickly. We’ve carefully considered the viability of this method and think it’s worth a try, although there are still some risks involved. You’ll have to make the final decision for Anthony."

The method Donald mentioned, I had guessed the gist of it just a second earlier, but hearing it still surprised me slightly. My emotions at that time were a bit complex; I didn’t know whether to feel proud of Benjamin or happy for Anthony.

But then I thought back to some moments of Angel in the prison, and after pausing, I asked Benjamin, "If the treatment with the potion fails, will Anthony suffer a lot afterward?"

This was also what Elizabeth wanted to know. She might not fully understand the origins and consequences of the potion’s development, but seeing the grave and serious expressions on all of our faces, she guessed the gist of the situation.

Her tears, unbeknownst to anyone, had fallen once more as she looked at Benjamin, her eyes full of pleading. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"The side effects of the potion have been reduced by us, but to say there will be no pain at all is impossible. Your Highness, I know you care a lot about Anthony, but this really is the last method I can think of. Just like His Majesty said, it’s a ’gamble,’ and what we’re betting is Anthony’s life," Benjamin said earnestly, his face solemn.

I trusted Benjamin’s medical skills a lot; if he said it was worth a try, then the chances of success were at least 60%! I quickly made up my mind, took a deep breath, and turned to look at Elizabeth. But before I could even say anything, Elizabeth had already made a decision that surprised us all!

With her head lowered and sobbing softly, she murmured, "Go ahead and use it."

"What?"

Benjamin almost instinctively questioned, while I instantly understood what Elizabeth intended to do.

She looked up again at Benjamin, her eyes frightfully swollen but her gaze was incredibly steadfast and bright, "Use that potion on Anthony, save him at this very moment! Whatever happens after, let’s at least get through tonight. If he were conscious now, he would probably choose the same, after all, he is the Silver Moon Pack’s brave and resilient Beta."

I looked at Elizabeth somewhat surprised; at this moment, she hardly seemed like her usual self. It was as if imperceptibly, she had been growing up, becoming braver and more responsible.

Although the present scene was hardly suitable for it, I couldn’t help but smile slightly, celebrating my sister’s hard-won growth.

I stepped forward and gently enfolded Elizabeth’s small head in my embrace, then spoke warmly to Benjamin behind me, "Let’s go with her decision, you can start now."

At this moment, Donald seemed to let out a quiet sigh, giving Benjamin a nod when he turned to look his way.

Upon receiving the command, Benjamin quickly pulled out his phone, spoke rapidly and gave a few instructions on the other line, then pushed open the door to the intensive care unit and went in.
