Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 313 ’Newlywed Gift
[Donald’s Perspective]
Henry even looked back at Licia as he spoke, with a hint of fondness on his crazed face, "If my Martha were still alive... sorry, my dear aunt, I’m a bit preoccupied with my own troubles, so I can’t take you with me. I think we’ll be meeting again very soon."
No sooner had Henry finished speaking than Licia and I simultaneously sensed that something was amiss. My gaze darkened, and without any hesitation, I opened fire, aiming to take Henry’s life!
But evidently, Henry was faster than anyone else present. He crushed a vial of potion he somehow produced, and the moment the red liquid touched his skin, Henry let out a spine-chilling roar.
My bullet did hit Henry, but it caused him no injury, because, in that instant, he had completed his shift from human to wolf form!
Due to injuries, I had hardly ever seen Henry shift, and I didn’t even know he could do that.
Henry’s wolf form was huge and burly, black as ink—a beast far larger than any normal wolf!
It looked incredibly intimidating, as though it could kill a well-tested Lycan with a single swipe of its paw.
Looking into its eyes, I had a premonition: it was about to escape!
"Stop, Henry!" I bellowed, completing my shift in an instant, ready to grapple with him.
But just then, the sound of Margaret’s cry of pain made me stop in my tracks. I instinctively looked for my mate, while Henry seized the moment of my distraction and grabbed Lillian’s arm, bolting out of the hall in a rampage!
"My ’wedding gift’ for you—I hope you and Margaret will like it. Don’t thank me!" That was the last thing Henry said as he fled.
I furrowed my brow, but my body didn’t hesitate as I rushed towards Margaret. Faced with the choice between killing Henry and protecting Margaret, I decisively chose the latter.
Margaret, I don’t know when, had left her cover and joined the battle in the hall. It was she whom the gaunt Rebel with a fierce face had sent flying with a swipe, and now she lay curled up on the ground covered in rubble, writhing in pain.
Seeing her like this cut me to the core. I immediately swept a group of Rebels aside with my powerful tail and anxiously asked Margaret on the floor, "Are you hurt, Margaret? Where does it hurt?"
Upon hearing my voice, Margaret looked up at me with her pale face and explained in a panicked tone, "I’m all right, Donald. Go save Elizabeth and Armstrong! They’ve been tied to the base of the helicopter, which is about to take off. Please save my sister!"
After hearing Margaret’s words, my heart tightened, and I immediately understood what Henry meant by ’wedding gift.’ That despicable, scheming bastard had planned all along to use Elizabeth and Armstrong to threaten me and Margaret!
"I’ve got it. Try to stand up; I’ll take you to save Elizabeth right now."
My calm voice seemed to give Margaret some strength. She looked at me, gritted her teeth, and slowly stood up from the ground, completing her shift in an instant.
A werewolf in wolf form can indeed conserve much more energy, and Margaret, always clever, certainly knew this.
Watching her stagger slightly, I glanced at her with concern but also knew she wouldn’t easily change her mind. I turned and led the way, running towards the location of the helicopter with her.
Following Henry’s escape, his Rebels began to flee in disregard of consequences. Their only fate was to be hunted down by the elite Lycans of the Royal City, from the hall and spreading outwards, a complete rout!
Because of this, the path for Margaret and me was clear as we chased after them, though we still had one last trouble to deal with.
"It seems just as MASTER said, the Lycan Queen does care a great deal about this she-wolf named Elizabeth!"
The one speaking was that gaunt Rebel leader. His eyes were fixed on Margaret as he spoke, which greatly displeased me.
I shifted my stance, placing Margaret behind me and said coldly, "If you’re smart enough, you should know that fleeing is what you should be doing right now. Henry has already abandoned you and fled for his own life. Are you sure you want to persist in this futile effort?"
At my warning, the leader’s hand, reaching to open the helicopter door, paused for a moment. He turned to look at me, hesitation flickering in his eyes.
I knew he was weighing his options. Henry’s unannounced flight had undoubtedly dealt a devastating blow to their morale, and he understood that tangling with me any longer was pointless.
"If I release these two wolves, will you let me leave peacefully?"
