Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 294: Levi
[Margaret’s POV]
I slowly sat up straight, and the look in my eyes as I gazed at Donald’s phone screen gradually became more serious.
It seemed that the trouble Eric had encountered at the Lilo Sea was far more severe than Donald and I had previously estimated. The person in charge of the Voyage Company—Karl—didn’t look simple at all!
The email Eric sent was particularly lengthy, and the information he reported later was the most surprising and baffling for Donald and me:
’I suspect that Alpha Levi of the Spirit Dragon Pack at the Lilo Sea has had some dealings with the MASTER! Because the first attack we suffered was led by their pack’s Beta!’
’In the latest intelligence I obtained, Austin had secretly met with this Levi several times six months ago! The content of their conversations during those meetings is still unknown to me, but I can be certain that such secretive and cautious assemblies suggest that there must be a major event unfolding behind the scenes.’ 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
’Your Majesty, due to Alpha Levi’s special status, we dare not directly confront him. We need more military support, or, rather, for you to come to the Lilo Sea in person to oversee this investigation! Eric appended.’
My gaze remained on the name in the letter, a not-too-unfamiliar one, Alpha Levi of the Spirit Dragon Pack!
What a coincidence this was! I had just heard about this person from Benjamin in the afternoon, and now I was hearing his name again from Donald in the evening. How can this not be considered coincidental and strange?
I slightly hooked the corner of my mouth, shifted my eyes away from the phone screen, and looked toward Donald, who was similarly silent.
"What do you think about this matter?" I asked Donald.
At my words, Donald slowly came back to his senses, his gaze resting on my face, "This number was given to Eric when the Silver Moon Pack set out. To be prepared for emergencies, I had someone secretly pass it to him, so it’s unlikely to be misused by enemies."
After hearing this addition from Donald, I slightly raised my eyebrows, but a weight seemed to sink in my heart.
Putting aside Donald’s caution and thoroughness, the information that Eric had sent back from the Lilo Sea was indeed true and reliable; only Eric himself was able to send emails to Donald using this account!
Eric’s investigative trip to the Lilo Sea had indeed run into trouble.
"Then how are we going to support them next..."
"Baby, why aren’t you curious about who this ’Levi’ is? Why don’t Eric and his team dare to confront him directly?"
Donald and I spoke almost simultaneously, and I looked up into his eyes as I heard the questions and probing tone in his voice.
It must be said that Donald’s intuition is sometimes so precise that it’s a bit frightening—he could tell something was off with me!
"So you really know who this person is? Why? I don’t think I’ve mentioned him to you before, and it’s even less likely that mother would have brought him up. So who told you about him?"
Seeing that I did not start a conversation, the perplexed look on Donald’s face deepened.
He asked and then fixed his downward gaze on me as if he wouldn’t let go until I answered.
I looked back at Donald somewhat helplessly, thinking to myself, King Lycan, aren’t you focusing on the wrong things? Isn’t the most important thing right now to discuss how to deal with Eric’s matter? Why suddenly start worrying about whether I know an Alpha who’s miles away?
But Donald’s curiosity wasn’t easily quelled, and gradually, I found Donald’s profound and distant gaze too much to withstand!
After a slight sigh, I began to voluntarily narrate all the events of the afternoon, including Lillian’s attempt to attack me, and Licia’s visit to Benjamin to get medicine for Lillian...
"So you went to ask Benjamin about mother’s kin just because you wanted to know the real relationship between mother and the Austin siblings? Why didn’t you ask me? Mother did handle it unfairly, I will go and have a good talk with her. As for Lillian..."
After I finished recounting the events of the afternoon, Donald was silent for a while before asking back. He began to speak then dropped his head slightly, a small frown on his brow, looking somewhat morose.
This was one of the reasons I didn’t want Donald to know about it—he would be caught between a rock and a hard place with me and Licia.
I exhaled and looked at him with a light chuckle, saying warmly, "Everyone’s heart has its biases, just like I don’t want you to be troubled by these matters. Maybe mother was just trying to protect the helpless Lillian."
"So let’s just let it go. I wasn’t hurt by Lillian, and for mother’s sake, let’s pretend it never happened. She won’t be able to escape Lycan guards and cause trouble again."
As I spoke, I stretched my neck up to kiss the corner of Donald’s mouth, then added, "It’s my fault for not telling you these things right away. Please don’t be mad at me, okay?"
