Chapter 283: Copy it?

[Margaret’s POV]

As Donald’s voice faded, my delayed reasoning violently snapped back into place, and the pain from my wound became sharp. I instinctively turned my head to see that the bandage had started to bleed...

In that moment, my emotions were incredibly complex. On one hand, I felt that my pain tolerance had seemingly increased, on the other, I was annoyed with myself for being so captivated by Donald that he noticed something like this before I did.

Embarrassed by my own dullness and lust, I pulled the blanket over my head, my ears blushing as if they were boiled!

By the time Dr. Ace was called in by Donald using the pager bell, Donald had already dressed me. However, my rosy complexion was in stark contrast to the slightly reopened wound on my shoulder.

"It’s nothing serious, just some cosmetic stitches that have come apart. Lycan Queen, you should try to move your arm with smaller and slower motions from now on, that should prevent any further issues."

Dr. Ace quickly treated my wound, and while he was tidying up the dressing kit, he reminded me with patience and warmth in his voice.

He did not suspect how my wound was forced open, and the culprit standing by my sickbed merely smiled at me, showing no intention of offering an explanation.

Of course, I didn’t want to hear the true facts of the matter from Donald either – too embarrassing! I would rather admit that it was an accident caused by my own carelessness.

I nodded and feigned seriousness, saying, "I understand, Dr. Ace. Thank you for your hard work."

Dr. Ace smiled, shook his head slightly, and after giving a slight bow to Donald, he left, leaving just me and a certain villain in the sickroom.

Donald glanced at me, his eyes glinting with mischief, "Have you now learned to tell lies? You’ve turned naughty, dear."

I glared at him silently, not really wanting to talk to the childish ghost, but thankfully, a sudden knock on the door quickly drew Donald’s attention away.

The people entering were Benjamin and Christian. They seemed to have planned to come together.

"Is there something important? Margaret hasn’t had her afternoon tea yet, would you like to wait a bit before discussing?"

Although Donald’s words were phrased as a question, his tone did not suggest he was inquiring about the two Lycans’ intentions. I reached out and tugged at the hem of Donald’s shirt, signaling him to proceed with his official matters first—afternoon tea could wait.

Donald gave me a resigned look and, after thinking it over, accepted my suggestion.

"Then speak quickly," he urged the two Lycans who exchanged glances.

Benjamin and Christian shared a somewhat gossipy look and then respectfully replied, "Your Majesty, Andrew and I have made some new discoveries while conducting pathological research on the captives. I felt it was necessary to bring it to your attention immediately."

As he spoke, Benjamin handed a glass vial to Donald, and Christian opened a video player on his tablet.

It was a video from their experiments in the laboratory, where occasional chilling screams could be heard! 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

This was not Benjamin conducting any inhumane experiments on these captives; he had simply segregated those infected with the Mysterious Potion, maintaining their vital signs while observing their subsequent physiological changes.

"With the collective efforts of myself and several heads from the Lycan Medical School, we’ve finally identified the combination and proportion of the compounds within the Mysterious Potion. If Your Majesty wishes, we are even capable of replicating it!"

Benjamin finished, looking up at Donald, as if to gauge his interest.

Donald watched the subjects in the video without speaking for a long time, prompting Benjamin to continue reporting, "Thanks to Mark and others who captured Angel alive, our research on the ’MASTER’ potion has made such significant progress over the past few days!"

"Weren’t you wondering why Angel’s wounds in the Misty Forest healed so quickly, Your Majesty? After days of research and experimentation, we finally found the key to it!"

What Benjamin mentioned next was indeed an issue Donald and I had been puzzling and caring about. My curiosity was piqued, and my eyes searching as I looked at Benjamin.

"Stop beating around the bush and tell us," Christian urged Benjamin, who seemed fed up with the medical officer’s inexplicable desire to perform.

Christian’s words caught Benjamin off-guard. Curbing his desire to tell the story, he continued to report to Donald and me, "’MASTER’ seems to have injected Angel with an exceptionally potent drug, the effects of which are to rapidly restore her depleted combat strength and heal all the physical injuries on her body!"
