Chapter 281: I am your way out.

Today marks my third day in this private ward. My shoulder wound from the gunshot has healed quite a bit, thanks to Dr. Ace and the meticulous care of the nurses.

Donald is always by my side in the hospital room. Although sometimes he leaves for a little while due to his busy official duties, he always rushes back to my side as if he would lose something when he canโ€™t see me for a moment.

This morning, Licia came by and talked to me about some things concerning the Austin siblings. I was surprised at how the situation had developed and listened with trepidation as Licia orally recounted the events of that day!

Actually, she had heard about these situations from Donald, and after much contemplation, had decided to tell me everything.

Donald is a person who values friendship and loyalty deeply. Although he often doesnโ€™t show it, he truly cares about his friends. Naturally, his mood has not been the best after being betrayed and sold out by Angel and Austin one after the other.

He chose to keep it all to himself, but there were always people who cared about him, like Licia, like his mate.

The afternoon sunlight was brilliant, and as it shone through the window of the hospital room, it bathed everything in a warm glow. I leaned against the pillows on my bed, gently turned my head, and looked tenderly at Donald sitting by the bed, "Dr. Ace says my wound is healing very well, and in a couple of days, I should be able to leave the hospital and go home."

"Speaking of which, Iโ€™ve never been to the place where you usually work and rest. Youโ€™ll have to show me around when we go," I said.

Donald, of course, agreed to all my requests.

He nodded, took a glass of water from the table, and handed it to me. I chuckled as I looked at him, finding it somewhat helpless that he took Dr. Aceโ€™s words as โ€™divine decreeโ€™.

"I donโ€™t want to drink water, I want you to accompany me outside to enjoy the sun. Can you?" I asked with a smile in my eyes.

"Enjoy the sun?" Donald asked, surprised, after a second.

I raised my hand and pointed at the wheelchair leaning against the wall corner, signaling that I was all prepared and just waiting for my mate to come and be my free labor.

minutes later, on the spacious lawn beneath the hospital.

"How is Elliot doing now? I havenโ€™t seen Benjamin or Louis come over to see me these past few days. Christian has been following us around, so he must have arrived in Royal City by now, right?" I asked Donald with a calm and gentle tone, smiling up at him.

Donald bent over and kissed my lips, a smile curling up as he replied, "Asking about other men in front of me, youโ€™re getting bolder by the day! Isnโ€™t worrying about me enough for you?"

Looking at Donald, who was needlessly jealous, I laughed helplessly, "Why are you even jealous of your own subordinate? Isnโ€™t that childish?"

As I spoke, I reached out and tugged at Donaldโ€™s tie, signaling for him to lower his head a bit more.

Donald looked at me indulgently, letting me pull his tie as I kissed the corner of his lip, "One question for one kiss, itโ€™s a fair trade," I suggested.

Donald was, of course, delighted with my proposal. Supporting my wheelchairโ€™s armrest with his hand, he tilted his handsome face and exchanged an enthusiastic kiss with me until I was nearly out of breath. Only then did he mercifully release me!

"Your body hasnโ€™t fully recovered yet, donโ€™t tempt me like that."

The manโ€™s deep, sexy voice arose by my ear, as if a seductive demon was whispering, causing my heart to flutter and making me look up at him, my emotions stirred.

Perhaps struck by my emotionally moved expression and gaze, the light in Donaldโ€™s eyes dimmed, and he was about to bend down to kiss me again when I stopped him with my hand on his chin.

I looked into his eyes, smiling as I gently asked, "Why havenโ€™t you told me about your bad mood these past days? Weโ€™re mates, Licia is worried about you too."

As I spoke, I caressed Donaldโ€™s cheek with my fingertips, my eyes filled with concern, "The world was never meant to be absolutely fair. When we gain something, we are destined to lose something else. We have to learn to reconcile, to find our own โ€™outletsโ€™ for our emotions."

I looked up and kissed Donaldโ€™s lips, whispering, "And I will always be your โ€™outletโ€™."

Something turbulent in Donaldโ€™s eyes, and his body seemed to stiffen for a moment before relaxing completely.

He knelt down and hugged me tightly, his arms strong and powerful.

After a long moment, he answered me hoarsely, "Iโ€™m not as fragile as you all think I am, but if you want to comfort me, then hurry up and get better. You know, Iโ€™ve been waiting for a long time."

Although I was somewhat surprised by Donaldโ€™s reaction, I understood him because I missed him just as much...
