Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 257: Unkillable Rogue?
[Margaret’s POV]
The bizarre scene seemed to stun Mark. He froze for a second, and just as I caught a glimpse of the rogue’s claw about to tear through his chest, I reached out and grabbed the sleeve of his shoulder...
In that critical moment, I rolled to the side with Mark, narrowly avoiding the sharp claw!
Meanwhile, Louis seized the opportunity. With his submachine gun directly against the rogue’s head, he didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger and spray bullets, instantly obliterating the rogue’s face, including its unprotected wolf eyes.
A gruesome howl erupted, and I smelled the nauseating scent of blood in the air. Holding my breath in discomfort, my stomach churned repeatedly.
I let go of Mark’s clothes and stood up with the submachine gun in hand. Suddenly, a whooshing sound strikingly close reached me from behind.
"Look out! Behind you!"
Louis’s warning came almost in sync with my actions.
I turned and fired. The bullets struck the attacking rogue, but they only lodged in its skin! Its hide seemed as impenetrable as a wall of bronze and iron. From such a close range, I couldn’t penetrate its body.
"The face and abdomen are its weak points! Lycan Queen, aim for their eyes!" Mark was shouting this reminder with his high-pitched voice.
Of course, I knew their vulnerabilities. It was just that everything happened so suddenly, I didn’t have time to adjust the aim of my gun.
Luckily, the bullets still inflicted some damage. The rogue howled in pain and leaped at me with its gaping jaws. But in the next second, Louis, who had completed his shift, sent it flying with a crash against the side of a nearby car!
"This isn’t right, Lycan Queen. These rogues are not like the ones His Majesty and the others encountered before! Dammit, what kind of monsters are these that can’t be killed even with bullets to the face?"
Of course, I didn’t know what was going on either. I quickly used my mind-link to inform Donald of the situation and sought his help.
This was not the time to pretend to be strong. These monstrous rogues were beyond our ability to handle; of that I was well aware.
"Gradually move closer to the front, Donald won’t leave us hanging!"
As I spoke, I completed my shift in an instant, gracefully and deftly avoiding another rogue’s attack, and in the process, I hopped onto the roof of the RV. I glanced up to assess Donald and the others’ situation.
Donald responded to my mind-link almost immediately. His silver figure quickly appeared atop the SUV to my front left.
But I only had time to exchange a glance with him when the bullets shooting at my feet the very next second drew my attention!
Leveraging the keen fighting instincts of a werewolf, I dodged several sniper shots by a hair’s breadth. Not until I took cover behind a larger vehicle did I dare peek in the direction of the gunfire!
When I clearly saw the familiar figure hidden in the lush tree canopy, my mouth dropped open in shock, and I subconsciously denied to myself, "No! This can’t be! She shouldn’t be here!"
At that moment, the enemy seemed to have discovered where I was hiding as they ’responded’ with several viciously accurate bullets!
I quickly withdrew my head, trying hard to stay calm. Now was not the time for expressions of confusion and incomprehension, and no one was going to answer the questions in my mind.
The only thing I could do then was to report this bizarre situation to Donald.
Angel had been targeting me from the start; her sniper rifle was not directed at anyone else, always at the RV where I had been. After I moved out of the RV, she followed with her rifle!
Thinking back to the shots I narrowly avoided just moments ago, a shiver ran through me. I snorted to myself, "Angel, Angel, your determination to see me dead is truly persistent!"
"But I won’t let you get your way easily. We’ll see. You can’t always be so lucky to escape from our hands."
This was Donald communicating with me through mind-link. Instinctively, I wanted to turn and look at him, but the gunfire above my head stopped me in my tracks.
I bit my lip in frustration, really wanting to rush out and have another fight with Angel. She was like an evil spirit, always so persistently haunting me!
I quickly replied to Donald and lay still.
Angel’s surprise appearance was alarming to both me and Donald, but even more bizarre and inexplicable was that she seemed lively and as combat-ready as ever!
