Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 234: Attacked
[Benjamin’s POV]
"What’s the road ahead like? If it’s still this impassable, we might have to spend the night in this ravine, which isn’t good news for us."
Margaret, delivering a bandage to me, spoke with a worried tone.
I was well aware of our grim situation, and after a heavy sigh, I replied, "The road behind us might be even worse! We haven’t even completed half of Starry Ravine yet, and the rain doesn’t seem to want to stop. It looks like we will have to spend the night in the ravine."
As I spoke, I skillfully applied medicine to Elliot and, looking at his unconsciously furrowed brow, I sighed again and continued, "I’m really sorry, Lycan Queen. I had no idea there would be so many issues in this ravine. If I had..."
"You don’t need to apologize to me; we all know you did it for Elliot’s sake. It’s everyone’s wish, we all hope that Elliot stays well. So, please, stop blaming yourself. It wasn’t just your decision to take this route, and if anyone should be saying sorry, it should be me, considering I’m mainly responsible for this situation."
The Lycan Queen interrupted me tenderly; she was still that understanding and gentle girl.
Relieved by her words, I smiled lightly, the guilt and anxiety in my heart slightly fading away, and my hands moved faster wrapping Elliot’s wounds.
Just as I threw away the blood-stained bandage and turned to signal to the Lycan Queen that I was going to hop off to continue working, a sudden shout, followed by an enraged roar of a beast, burst from outside the vehicle!
"Ah!... Help!"
"Roar!"
[Margaret’s POV]
Benjamin and I almost simultaneously pushed open the door and ran out. The shout came from directly in front of the vehicle. Due to the dense vegetation all around our heads and the dim twilight, that spot was pitch-black; even the headlights couldn’t illuminate it!
"Who’s out there? Jack? Is anyone there?" I gripped the dagger previously tied around my waist and asked in a lowered voice.
My voice seemed to fall into an infinite black hole, receiving no response, but Jack, who had been clearing rocks with Benjamin, should have been right there.
I exchanged a glance with Benjamin, pulled out the sharp dagger at my waist, and crouched slightly, advancing steps with Benjamin.
Following us stealthily were Louis and several Lycans. I made a gesture to them to spread out and approach from both sides.
Before we had taken a few steps forward, a sticky scent of blood mixed with rain assaulted us!
By the time I saw what was attacking us, my heartbeat almost stopped. Benjamin and Louis’s piercing warnings rang in my ears; I instinctively retreated, and a sound of air being sliced was less than 10 centimeters from my face followed by a chilling roar.
"Roar!"
"It’s a tiger! Everyone, step back!"
"Quick, retreat, Lycan Queen! Move to the left!" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"God! Is that Jack’s hand? That beast attacked Jack! It even ate his hand! Fuck! Brothers, kill it, avenge Jack!"
I actually couldn’t hear the noisy chaos around me clearly; all my attention was on this giant tiger with a bloodied maw and a fierce gaze.
Survival instincts made me instinctively lean to the left, and with a neat roll, I successfully moved out of the tiger’s attack range. Suppressing my heart that almost jumped to my throat, my right hand holding the dagger was slightly trembling.
This was almost an innate fear deep in my bones. Even though I was a werewolf endowed with intelligence, and the other was just an unevolved tiger, I was still afraid of it.
It really looked strong, well-fed, clearly accustomed to dominating the ravine.
I didn’t know why it came out to hunt on a rainy day and even attacked humans, which seemed quite unusual and suspicious. I speculated baselessly as I looked into its terrifying, bloodshot eyes.
As we got a clear look at what it had just done and managed to maintain some distance, the situation on the field began to change slowly!
Surrounded by dozens of us, with the headlights of the vehicles not far off lighting up, we could almost see every move it made.
Louis, leading several Lycans, was the first to complete their shift and began to circle the tiger slowly. Those sharp, gleaming wolf eyes looked as if they would tear it apart!
