A Walk with Eternity-Chapter 53: Another one
"Nilsine, what the hell are you doing right now?!" Rue shouted from across the hall.
Her other companions looked back in their direction wide-eyed, clearly shocked that the one they were supposed to search for within the week had shown herself right in front of them.
That’s Nilsine?!
"This bastard has lost his mind! This is not Lysander—!" Before she could even finish her sentence, shadow arms appeared from the ground and gripped her legs and arms, pulling her away from Lysander.
"Fuck!" She cursed out of spite, as she couldn’t hold the grip on Lysander any longer. The shadows then aimed to throw her away from Lysander.
To which she landed on the other side of the training hall.
Lysander coughed, gasping for air. Well, that hurt like fuck. When did she become so strong? Is it a strength enhancing spell? He thought to himself, trying to regain his vision’s focus.
"What are you saying right now?!" Rue lost her composure completely, but she felt a hand hold her back. She turned to her side and saw Dolunay, holding her arm. Dolunay shakes her head, implying that it’s useless to get in between them. Rue was somewhat confused that they seemed to be laid back and... completely surrendered to the chaos that unfolded before their eyes.
"Why...?"
Dolunay sighed. "Just don’t go in between them."
Rue’s brows knit in confusion for one moment, but she tries to come to an understanding. Then, Nilsine’s words about two of her closest friends rang in her head.
"...Ly and Darian... I don’t know... I really don’t know what happened to them now."
Is that what she meant...? Is there something about Lysander that she found out about?
"You damned fuck, I’m going to kill you!" Nilsine recovered immediately, despite the bleeding wound in her head and arm. She raised her left arm up and three magic circles formed right above her head. She released multiple fire balls, aimed straight at Lysander. However, Lysander dodges them all completely.
Lysander brought out his magic sword and dashed towards her direction with a wide smile.
"I’m half immortal, you pea-brained snitch! Let’s see what you can do about that!"
Lysander laughed at her spiteful words, almost too sarcastic. His sword clashed with her shield barrier completely. Both of them are looking at each other with so much excitement and hate in their gaze.
"Stop being a coward and use your weapon, you spoiled rat!"
"Magic is my weapon, you man whore!"
Their fight didn’t stop, and they just kept on clashing, attacking each other with the intent to kill.
Cimmerian sighed in complete surrender, seeing this chaotic duel unfold. "Now we really can’t go between them..." He commented.
When the nicest and calmest people within their group start cursing at each other like bandits, they’re unstoppable until they both cool down themselves.
"Don’t worry, they’ll tire themselves soon enough," Ezio comforts Cimmerian with a small smile.
"I didn’t expect just having Lysander here would lure Nilsine out of hiding," Kian says. "Well, at least she gave us less work now."
"Seeing them duel like this gives me a sense of nostalgia," Milera joins in, she was smiling. "I’m taking a bet that Nilsine will win this one."
They all expressed how something like this was simply a normal daily happening. It was as if they expected something like this.
"What is truly going on...?" Rue was completely clueless, she didn’t know how to act at this point.
"Well, to explain, it seems Nilsine somewhat knows that Lysander’s body was possessed by someone else for the past few years," Kian says, as if it was some normal occurrence. "But fortunately, Yves was able to drive out that soul who occupied Ly’s body and put Lysander’s actual trapped soul back in his body. The one Nilsine is facing now is the real Lysander."
Rue was speechless, unable to form words because of how absurd everything was. That was actually happening for the past few years...?
It’s actually so much worse than what Nilsine had described.
Don’t tell me she was planning on resolving this issue alone...?
Nilsine was never the kind to hide something so big unnecessarily, unless she was planning to fix it herself.
In the first place, why did she even come here...? 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Can you activate a sound barrier? So it won’t attract your people to come here?" Dolunay says, but Yves suddenly appeared next to Rue, surprising everyone once again.
"No need. I already did that after hearing it from a mile away," he says, putting an arm over Rue’s shoulder. He turned to her and said, "Did you sleep enough? This sight is probably causing you distress, you should get more rest."
Now he’s being cocky huh, the others thought in unison, completely staring blankly at the human and the siren.
"Won’t you stop them, Yves? They’ll be in each other’s throats at this point," Rue asks of him.
"They already seem like they are in each other’s throats," Yves answers, looking over to the two who seemed like they wouldn’t stop even if this whole ground turned into a bloody field.
They remained silent for a few more minutes, watching the two clashing despite their completely different fighting styles, observing the fight of two opposite fighters. Several moments later, they were completely separated, panting and completely out of breath from the continuous clashing.
"You two-faced freak!" Nilsine was bloodied from head to toe from Lysander’s sword attacks that she can’t seem to predict at all. She was already panting heavily from having used up half of her mana to attack this vampire.
"I’m not two-faced, you fool!"Lysander was the same. With his slow regeneration, he was already burned and the marks were already bleeding. "And I am Lysander, the Lord of the Red–"
"Silence, you imbecile! You are not my friend!"
"I thought you were smart, but you can’t even get facts right?!"
"Well, I know for a fact that you are not Lysander! Lysander would never talk and work with that horrible monster—"
Before she could even finish her sentence, she felt a familiar presence right behind her, completely knocking her out of her senses.
"Yves?!" Lysander was shocked by Yves’ intervention. It was unusual of him to get in their way.
"Enough with the fights, we’re here to train calmly." Syvestian says, carrying Nilsine with telekinesis and bringing her over to Milera. "Mil, execute first aid. Too much blood loss is not good for her."
"Aye~" Milera says with a sing-song tone, keeping her eyes on Nilsine’s body, gently being laid down on the long wooden chair. Her eyes immediately landed on Nilsine’s mountains. Her all-so-happy expression changed into a blank one. "She’s really matured a lot huh..."
"Just do what you were told to, Mil," Ezio says, face-palming at her reaction.
"I’ll help," Dolunay says, pulling her sleeves up.
"Now I just feel stupid," Lysander walked up to them, looking down casted as he saw the result of him choosing violence.
"Oh, please. As if you two didn’t fight like this when we were kids," Kian says, rolling his eyes back at Lysander’s unneeded guilt.
"And it’s not stupid to be defensive. She was clearly here to kill you," Cimmerian joined in. "It’s surprising how she knew about you being possessed though."
"Yes... she mentioned something suspicious," Lysander says, looking over to Syvestian who was unusually quiet. "You know something don’t you, Yves?"
All of them then turned back to Syvestian, who simply sighed.
"I will give you the details once Nilsine is conscious and calm."
Despite him making an effort in hiding some facts from them, he wasn’t one to lie the moment he was questioned. As if it was against his own morals.
And that’s why they can’t even bring themselves to hate him.
"Is there a room where we can let Nilsine stay and rest?" Syvestian turns to Rue and asks.
"She’s still a criminal here in the empire. It should be safer in one of the girls’ rooms. I’ll have the servants refrain from entering your rooms unless you ask for them," Rue responds.
"My room should be alright," Dolunay suggested. "Mil and I can look over her for the next few days."
"Alright, that’s settled then," Syvestian says, turning to Lysander. "You sit down and rest too. Watch over Nilsine while we all train for the morning."
Lysander sighs, surrendering to his words. "Fine."
The morning sun rose in the sky as they all trained for the morning. Their morning training usually lasts for two hours at most, and in between that time, Nilsine wakes up conscious with her head in Lysander’s lap. A cloak was covering her front like a blanket.
The moment she opened her eyes, she was too fatigued to even move from her spot. She simply stared at Lysander, all patched up himself.
"And I am Lysander, the Lord of Red—"
Is he really Lysander...?
Her memory cannot fail her. She saw the very same body a few months ago with that mad professor that ordered for them to be kidnapped. He was physically there.
"Who...?"
But that Lysander could barely even recognize her.
"That’s not your friend, Sin."
Hearing those words coming out of Heins’ mouth, it was as if she went completely insane. She didn’t think such magic was even possible.
It was nauseating.
Feeling her stare, Lysander looked down, his face devoid of any surprise.
"How are you feeling?" he asks with a low voice.
"Hell."
Lysander chuckled at that.
"Sorry about that."
Ah... this is him.
Relief washed over her system. She was close to crying, thinking of completely losing another friend of hers to Heins.
So, I haven’t truly lost you... I haven’t lost another one to that monster...
