Chapter 410: Feeding

The arrival of the Faun on the farm delayed their distribution of the fried rice to the battlefield. But that doesn’t mean they will just postpone it entirely. With the Faun already returning to the forest, Elaina and her children are getting ready to distribute the fried rice. Yona will stay behind the farm to keep the barrier intact in case something strays from the battlefield and lands over.

"Is it heavy? The wok is full of fried rice and you kids are still not that big enough to carry it," Elaina is worried seeing that the boys are already holding the wok’s handle on each side.

"No worries, Mom. We will treat this as training instead. And besides, this isn’t as heavy as I thought it would be!" Arthur grins as he and Raye lift the wok.

"Yes, Mom. This is a great weight for training our muscles. Don’t think too much about it!" Raye added, making Elaina shake her head a bit before resigning to what they are set to do.

"Don’t force yourselves, boys. If it gets really heavy, put it down and rest for a bit. Don’t rush towards the battlefield and stick with us."

"Yes, Mom!" the two simultaneously answered and began trotting with the wok in their hands. Layla followed them closely in case the wok spills, she will salvage it with her ability, while Mier is just following them and chatting with Layla.

Adelaide chuckled. "I admit that they are passionate about their training...too passionate even."

"Let them be, they seem to be enjoying their time, I don’t think it is a bad thing they want to help out. And if they think this is some sort of training, then let them think it was training. There’s no need to discourage them."

"I mean, I am not discouraging them, Mom. But it would have been best to let them enjoy things that kids do enjoy, instead of thinking of doing things that they can do once they are old enough. After all, we cannot bring back our childhood times again like how I did. They might regret it once they get older."

"I get your frustration, Ade, since you already have experienced an adult lifestyle in your previous life, but let them think what they think is fun. Boys do think differently from us, girls. Their enjoyment can be different from what we enjoy doing. They might even find something mundane or simple things enjoyable and entertaining."

"Fair enough," Adelaide nodded in agreement.

The group continues to move to the battlefield, and they can hear the loud explosions as barrage of cannonballs and magic spells are being blocked by a barrier erected by magicians.

Soldiers who load cannons after cannons after they shot their loaded cannonballs, in short, the place is very chaotic without a sign of stopping. One can say that the beach that was once peaceful and is where relaxation should be done during summer is now a battlefield.

As they are approaching the battlefield, Princess Margaux goes outside the tent where the wounded are currently recuperating and spots Elaina and her kids.

"Ah, Miss Elaina! And you kids, what are you all doing here? It’s dangerous to stay here!" Princess Margaux is worried about the group’s safety.

"Don’t worry, Princess. We will be staying at a distance. We are here to distribute lunch for the soldiers. Might help with the battle with a full stomach, no?"

Princess Margaux sighed in relief. "Thank you for this, Miss Elaina. Truth to be told, we are running out of food stored already, and the supply that was supposed to continue the supply of food has been delayed and has been running late for some unknown reason. The supplies here are getting low, and we are now wondering when we will receive the new ration, considering that we are all stuck here fighting tooth and nail against the fleet that your sister assembled."

"Well, we have plenty of fried rice in here. Might be the only thing your soldiers might need."

"Okay then, I will tell my brother to have a few soldiers tell those who are currently recovering and resting to have some food. Your timing is actually perfect, Miss Elaina. Still, we will have you lot stay a lot farther for the time being. It’s not that we are pushing you lot away, it’s just that some stray cannonballs land on the field from time to time as some barrier parts get damaged by a barrage and enter before the barrier is repaired."

Elaina nodded. She is fine with this setup, and she feels much safer if that were the case. Once Princess Margaux has already assigned them a spot, she pulls out her bag and sets up the table she put inside the storage bag and readies all the utensils, plates, and everything she needed to ration the food to the soldiers.

The kids also help Elaina out and ready both the drinks and the cups that Elaina also made. With how the fried rice turns out and the experiment she did earlier a success, she is now waiting to see how it will affect the soldiers who are fighting and how significant the buffs are on them.

It didn’t take long for the soldiers to arrive one by one at their table.

"Is this the place where the food will be rationed?" one of the tired soldiers who approached asked.

"Yes! Come and line up, we will be handing out the plates of food. Once you are done, just please hand it over to that girl on the side over there."

Hearing that, the other soldiers immediately formed a line, and Elaina started scooping the fried rice and putting it on the plates one by one, then handing it to them once the plate was filled.

Since the soldiers eating are the ones who are on break, there’s nothing to worry about the defenses collapsing and the attacks subsiding just because everyone is eating. They are just eating first and take over the next soldier once they have eaten their fill.

"Wha?! T-this godly taste! Is this really fried rice? This is some good sh*t!" one of the soldiers couldn’t help but curse but praise the food as he continues to shove food after food on his mouth.

"The juice as well. I can tell this is regular apple juice but damn, the taste is quite good and goes so well with the fried rice. I think I am fired up again. I am ready to fight again!"

"Strangely enough, I feel the same!"

The soldiers who got their fill immediately hand over the plates to Layla and return to the battlefield with vigor and readiness. The same thing follows with the others and seeing this, Elaina smiled.

"The plan succeeded."
