A Shotgun Wedding with the Mafia Don-Chapter 29: A job and great sex
"As long as you’re willing to burn with me." She had no problem with that. She was ready to play in the burning inferno as long as she could take him with her.
Slowly, she unfastened the button of her shirt and took it off in one swift motion.
Although she acted as if she knew everything about seducing men, she didn’t actually have the experience to back it up.
The fact that she had only been with one man showed that she knew nothing about casual sex.
But how hard could it be?
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulled him closer until they almost shared the same breath and stared into each other’s eyes.
"You know there is no turning back after this." He buried his fingers through her hair, gently tagging a handful of strands until he had full control of her. "Are you sure about this?"
The question caught her off guard, never anticipating that he would ever consider her feelings.
Truthfully, she wanted to believe that the man she loved never existed. That the real Oliver was this ruthless Mafia Don that everyone feared.
But somehow, the old Oliver still showed up unexpectedly, reminding her of the man she once loved.
Many times, she wondered what Oliver saw in her back then. Why did he choose her out of the hundreds of girls who tried to get into his bed?
"Yes." She answered definitively. If she wanted to avenge her family, she needed to get close to him, meaning, she needed to earn his trust.
Sex was just a physical connection. It didn’t have to mean anything.
"There is one thing I want to ask before we do this." She placed her hand above his chest, feeling the thunderous drumming of his heart against her palm, which reflected her own heartbeat.
"What is it?" He asked, dropping his hands on his sides and stepping back. Then, he moved to the bed and sat on the edge, but his eyes never left hers as if he was studying her.
Again, she was confused. Curious to see what was going through his mind.
"Why did you agree to marry me?" She doubted it was because she had threatened his life. That was absurd. But what was it?
His lips curved into a smile as he watched her. "Well, I find you fascinating." Then, he shook his head and looked down as if he remembered something. "And you kinda reminded me of someone." He admitted.
"Besides, I like a woman who knows what she wants and gets it." He said, spreading his hands on the bed as he showcased his well-chiselled body for her benefit.
It was a challenge. She could tell. "And if I tell you what I want, will you give it to me?" She walked straight at him, daring him to play her game.
"Sure, Sophia." He readily agreed. "What do you have in mind?" He asked, but he didn’t move. Even his eyes never left hers.
Nonetheless, he seemed intrigued, as he scrutinized her face, which was exactly what she wanted. She needed his undivided attention.
This was it. Her opportunity.
"What I want..." She initially said while spreading her legs and sitting on his lap. "...is to be your wife." Now, she knew she had truly captured his interest as his eyebrows rose in question.
"I mean, I want to be your real wife. Not just a contract wife." She further explained. "I promise I’ll be the best wife and mother to Caleb if you’ll only give me a chance."
What was the plan?
Simple.
Make him fall in love with her and then dump his ass.
"You want to stay married to me. Are you sure?" One hand wrapped around her waist while the other went to move her hair away from her eyes.
"I can’t promise you anything, but money..." He said as his fingers gently moved along her back while his other hand moved behind her neck, effectively caging her against his body.
"Protection... Connection..." He continued as his lips began to move along her jaw. "And... Sex... Great... Wild... Intoxicating Sex." He finished by claiming her lips in one passionate kiss.
In that moment, in all honesty, she was already drowning in that kiss, not caring if she breathed or not. She was ready to settle on what he could promise her.
Until.
"But not love." He said as his lips moved from her neck to her shoulder.
Like a bucket of ice-cold water rained down on her, she froze.
Damnit, Sophia! She couldn’t fall into her own trap. She had to stick to her plan.
"I will never love you." He continued as if he were truly serious about that, looking like there was no changing his mind.
Suddenly, he stopped and looked into her eyes. "So, if you think..."
But she interrupted him. "I don’t care what you think." Immediately, she placed a finger on his lips. "As I said, I want you, whether you love me or not."
Bravo! She would like to applaud and praise herself for her performance. Who knew that she had it in her to be this bold and daring? But she guessed that for her parents and her child, she could do anything.
"And another thing..." She continued before she lost her nerve. "I want to be your Executive Assistant."
It was the only way she could monitor his movement. Get close to him enough to learn about his secrets.
"But I thought you loved your job with the Sinclair Group. Are you willing to give that up?" He looked surprised as he held her in place.
"I’m your wife now, so I think my place is by your side. But let me finish my last project with the Sinclair Group. I owe Jenny at least to finish that before I leave." Hoping her voice was convincing.
"I promise I’ll be the best assistant you’ve ever had." She assured him, trying to sound as sincere as possible while staring into his eyes.
"Hmm!" He seemed to think about it. "Being my wife will not excuse you if you mess up with your job."
"Does that mean...?" She got the job.
Maybe it was the lack of breakfast. Maybe it was the excitement of the day.
Maybe it was a combination of everything.
Suddenly, she found herself peppering his face with kisses.
It reminded her of the time that she finally moved in with him. Sharing their first meal as a couple. How happy and excited were they about the future?
Bang! Bang! Bang!
But her enthusiasm was disrupted when somebody called her husband outside the door.
"Mr. Morton... Pardon the interruption." A man’s voice said. "But we have an emergency situation."
Just like that, the moment was over.
Reality finally bit her in the ass, waking her up from her momentary delusion.
"Hey! I’ll be back. Then, we are resuming where we left off." He winked at her before he grabbed his pants and shirt and exited their room.
Damn! She had to be careful because she might find herself losing herself in this charade and getting her heart broken the second time around.
"Focus, Sophia." She couldn’t forget her objective.
As soon as she saw his shadow disappear from her sight, she quickly made her move. Grabbing her shirt from the floor, she stepped into his workspace and started searching the drawers, the shelves, and every nook and cranny of the tiny area.
The laptop.
"But I don’t know the password." She mumbled to herself, feeling slightly frustrated as she found nothing incriminating in the files.
How could she make them pay if she could not find any dirt on them?
Still, she was not going to give up. After she became the new Executive Assistant, she would have more access to his schedules, his work, and his life.
Then, she could finally drag Oliver and his father to burn in hell.
As she returned everything the way she had found it, her phone suddenly rang, making her slightly jerk. Stunned by the disturbance, she accidentally dropped a document on the floor without realizing it.
"Hey, Caleb." She answered, breathing hard as she tried to calm her nerves. "How are you, my darling?" She asked, surprised and slightly concerned. "Is there something wrong?"
"I just miss you, Mom." The young, adorable boy said. "Grandma Dianne said that I can call you if I want to hear your voice."
"Of course, you can always call me anytime you miss me." She answered back, equally thrilled to hear his voice. "You know what... I miss you, too, Caleb."
For a few minutes, she asked the boy what he had been doing while she and his father were away. Then, she reassured him that she was coming back after learning of his concern.
"Well, Grandma said that I have to say goodbye now." The boy said, sounding a little bit disappointed. "But she promised that once you get back, a stork will be knocking on our door to deliver my baby sister."
"What? Stork?" She asked, wondering if she had heard him correctly.
"Bye, Mom. Say hi to Dad." Then, the boy hurriedly hung up, leaving her to think about what he said.
"Wait!" But the line went dead. "A baby sister?"
"No! That was not happening." She shook her head.
"What’s not happening?" Suddenly, her husband stood behind her with a document in his hand.
