A second chance with my billionaire husband-Chapter 1526 - 293: A World Divided Into Black and White
Why is it so urgent? Did something happen?
Yun Ya pondered as she dressed. Mingyue could discreetly take her away from the Yan Family, and suddenly Yun Ya said, "Wait."
"I’ll leave a note for Brother Yan, otherwise he’ll worry if he comes back and can’t find me." Yun Ya said while quickly scribbling a note, placing it on the bedside cabinet. Then, Mingyue silently led her away from the Yan Family.
Outside the walls of the Yan Family’s courtyard, a black car was parked at the alley entrance. Yun Ya and Mingyue got in one after the other, leaving as quietly as they arrived.
The car zigzagged through the city, eventually stopping at the back door of a bar in the red-light district. The place was very chaotic, with ambiguous sounds occasionally piercing the darkness and into their ears.
Yun Ya donned a black coat and pulled on a hood, its wide brim concealing her entire face and perfectly obscuring her figure. With two bodyguards dressed in black escorting her, she walked unobstructed through the back door of the bar.
Mingyue, also clad in black and wearing a half silver mask, quickly scanned her surroundings. With her ears alert in all directions and eyes watching everything, no one hidden in the dark could escape her notice.
After ensuring no one followed, Mingyue quickly caught up to Yun Ya.
They turned into an elevator, heading straight to the top floor, into the innermost private room.
Yun Ya pushed the door open, and the man sitting on the sofa stood up immediately.
Yun Ya removed her hood and stepped forward, seeing the man clearly.
Years had passed, and compared to before, he had matured considerably. It was the same face, but with a burn scar that traversed his left brow, eye, and cheekbone. The scar was like the surface of the moon, rough and terrifyingly sinister, adding a hint of menace to his appearance.
The man’s initial wariness dissipated instantly, making him look much more weathered.
He stood up and smiled, "Long time no see."
Yun Ya smiled, "You called me in such a hurry, is there something urgent?"
If it weren’t something particularly urgent, Lin Tao wouldn’t have taken such a big risk to see her.
"Old friends meeting again, shouldn’t we catch up first?" Lin Tao raised an eyebrow and smiled, making the scar seem much more agreeable.
"I don’t think you’d take such a big risk just to reminisce." Yun Ya sat down, staring at the man across from her.
Lin Tao smiled, "Very well, let’s get straight to the point. There’s indeed something very important I wanted to discuss with you today."
As he spoke, Lin Tao took out a black brocade bag from his bosom and pushed it in front of Yun Ya.
Yun Ya glanced at him, "What’s this?"
"You’ll know once you open it."
Yun Ya picked it up, opened the bag, and pulled out a... Her pupils suddenly shrank as she looked at the item in her hand.
This is...
A fan-shaped Jade Pendant, its white jade hue warm and cool to the touch, with a gleam that seemed to flow like water, a sign of its premium quality.
However, this Jade Pendant was evidently cut from a whole circular pendant, based on its proportions, it’s a quarter. The pendant had intricate hollow patterns engraved on it, resembling some ethnic script.
"Where did you get this?" Yun Ya asked.
This Jade Pendant was one of the four pieces of Harun’s treasure, four pieces she had successfully collected since then.
Lin Tao, observing her expression, said, "You really do know everything."
Yun Ya lifted her gaze, her eyes fixed on him, "Where did you get this?"
"Do you know Prince Harun?" Lin Tao asked.
Yun Ya’s fingers tightened around the Jade Pendant, "I know."
Perhaps she was a descendant of Harun.
Lin Tao gave her a deep look and suddenly said, "Yun Ya, I hope we can be honest with each other. I have no intention of hiding anything from you, and I hope you won’t hide anything from me."
Yun Ya curved her lips, "Of course."
"Alright, then I’ll tell you."
"I found this in Brother Qing’s secret room. I forced the pendant’s origins out of him, and he told me about the legend of Harun’s treasure. But I discovered he was hiding something from me, like how he got this pendant and how he learned of this legend. Under torture, he confessed the truth."
"This Jade Pendant was given to him by someone from Queen, who wanted him to search for the whereabouts of the other pendants within the country."
Yun Ya clenched her fist, "When did this happen?"
"A month ago," Lin Tao replied.
She didn’t believe Queen wouldn’t know anything. If Queen truly wanted to find the whereabouts of the other pendants, it would be an easy task. Would they really let others search blindly like finding a needle in a haystack?
Perhaps... perhaps... Yun Ya’s heartbeat quickened, her fingers tightly gripping the Jade Pendant, its sharp edges piercing her delicate palm, the pain making her mind sharper.
