Chapter 1362: Dramatic Turn

"Ultimately, it still comes down to a battle of Great Daos. I suppose it can also be regarded as a conflict from a previous lifetime. Now that you've mastered the laws of reincarnation, I'm sure you understand that such conflicts are unavoidable. Right now, there is no longer any direct conflict of interest between us, so why not let bygones be bygones?

“You can replace Xuanyuan Jie as one of the Seven Heavenly Dao Lords, and I can help you reach the pinnacle of the laws of reincarnation. What do you say?" Gu Huojin proposed.

"To you, these are nothing more than trivial matters of the distant past, but to me, these are excruciating experiences that are ingrained into the very fibers of my being. Besides, the conflict between the Heavenly Court and the Reincarnation Palace no longer concerns only the two of us. Countless more people have been swept up in this conflict, so no peaceful resolution is possible," the Reincarnation Palace Master replied with a shake of his head.

Gu Huojin didn't appear surprised by this response, and he asked, "In that case, what do you plan to do, Palace Master?"

"This conflict will only truly subside once one of us ceases to exist," the Reincarnation Palace Master declared.

"Despite our past differences, I had always thought of you as someone who would be able to understand me and see things from the same vantage point as I do, but it seems that I was wrong. You are still too short of sight and too narrow of mine," Gu Huojin remarked in a disappointed manner.

The Reincarnation Palace Master remained silent, seemingly waiting for Gu Huojin to continue.

"The death of your dao partner, the battle of the Great Dao between you and me, and even the deaths of the countless cultivators of the Reincarnation Palace and the Heavenly Court mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Have you not thought about what lies above and beyond the Heavenly Dao?" Gu Huojin asked, and his amicable facade faded to reveal the ambition and ruthlessness underneath.

"You want to rise beyond the Heavenly Dao? You are already the Time Dao Ancestor and stand at the pinnacle of all cultivators, are you still not satisfied?" the Reincarnation Palace Master asked.

"I suppose it's no surprise that you don't understand me. After all, you're not a true Dao Ancestor, so you don't know how suffocating it feels to constantly have the Heavenly Dao hanging over your head. It's... an indescribable feeling that makes me want to punch a hole through the heavens!" Gu Huojin said as he clenched his fists tightly.

Everyone was rather taken aback to see this. They had never seen Gu Huojin speak like this, and they felt like this Gu Huojin was very different from his usual self.

"Are you finally displaying your ambition? It's a pity that your grand plan won't come into fruition," the Reincarnation Palace Master chuckled, and as soon as his voice trailed off, the space on either side of the Jade Pond Paradise suddenly began to tremble violently as countless chaotic silver ripples appeared without any warning.

The entire Jade Pond Paradise was enshrouded within powerful restrictions set up by the Heavenly Court's Dao Ancestors, and they were immediately activated on their own to clash against the silver ripples.

Bursts of tremendous power were sent sweeping through the banquet venue, sending some of the guests at the edge of the venue flying through the air, and some of the cultivators with the lowliest cultivation bases present sustained severe injuries as the entire situation descended into complete pandemonium.

Right at this moment, a vast blanket of white clouds appeared on either side of the Jade Pond Paradise to oppose the silver ripples, and their power was instantly nullified.

At the same time, Dao Ancestor Bai Yun rose up into the sky above the Jade Pond Paradise, while the cultivators that had been severely wounded were frantically flying toward the center of the venue.

Beside Pure Clear Lake, Li Yuanjiu and the other Dao Ancestors all turned to Gu Huojin and the Reincarnation Palace Master with uncertain expressions, but Gu Huojin wasn't displaying even the slightest bit of emotion, seemingly completely disinterested in what was taking place before him, and the Reincarnation Palace Master was reacting in much the same way.

Contemplative looks appeared on the faces of Li Yuanjiu and Chi Rong upon seeing this, while a faint smile had appeared on Chen Ruyan's face.

As for Yin Ming, he had closed his eyes like an old monk going into a stint of meditation.

The other Dao Ancestors were all quite puzzled to see this, and they were at a loss for what to do.

Meanwhile, Dao Ancestor Bai Yun continued to conjure up more clouds to oppose the silver ripples that were sweeping through the surrounding space, aided by all of the restrictions around the Jade Pond Paradise.

However, right at this moment, the silver ripples suddenly began to glow radiantly as two bursts of tremendous and peerlessly sharp power erupted out of them.

A loud tearing sound rang out as the white clouds on either side of the Jade Pond Paradise were torn apart, and the restrictions around the venue weren't able to fare much better.

Dao Ancestor Bai Yun shuddered violently, and only after stumbling back close to twenty steps was he able to steady himself.

Clearly chagrined at being embarrassed in front of all of these banquet attendees, Dao Ancestor Bai Yun immediately prepared to spring into action again, but right at this moment, the space on either side of the Jade Pond Paradise was torn apart by the silver ripples to create a pair of bottomless spatial passageways.

Countless figures came flying in through the spatial passageways, and those arriving from the left were all purple-robed cultivators of the Devil Realm, led by none other than the Devilish Monarch, Shi Kongyu.

At the moment, Shi Kongyu was clad in a suit of purple armor that was riddled with black patterns, and a crimson cape was flapping audibly behind him.

There were four figures standing on either side of him.

To his left were a man and a woman, the former of which had a head of limp, straw-like long hair and an alarmingly emaciated body, while the latter was stunningly voluptuous and beautiful, like an evil flower that inspired both fear and entrancement.

Of the two people standing on Shi Kongyu's right, one of them was a woman in a white dress who was remarkably tall, towering over even the Devilish Monarch. She was also extremely rotund, resembling a mountain of meat that was not dissimilar in build to Patriarch Miro.

Standing beside her was a yellow-robed man who appeared to have only been in his twenties. There was an ordinary-looking black longsword strapped to his waist, and his appearance was also quite unremarkable, but his eyes were extremely hollow and lifeless, looking as if they belonged to a dead man.

Their auras indicated that all of them were Dao Ancestors, and there was a collection of around forty to fifty Great Encompassment cultivators gathered behind them.

Among them were Shi Pokong and Shi Jingyan, both of whom had reached the early-Great Encompassment Stage.

Standing beside the two of them was a handsome young man dressed in imperial attire, and the auras of Shi Pokong and Shi Jingyan were completely dwarfed by his late-Great Encompassment Stage aura.

Assembled behind them was a mighty devilish army, all of whom were at or above the Golden Immortal Stage, and it was clear that all of the elite forces of the entire Devil Realm were out in full force.

Meanwhile, true spirit beings of the primordial land were pouring out of the other spatial passageway, and they were led by none other than Bai Zi, Yue Mian, and a bald, middle-aged man with a nonchalant smile on his face.

The bald man was clad in a suit of ancient copper armor that was devoid of all patterns, making it appear no different from a suit of armor one would find in the mortal world, but it was made to appear extraordinary by its wearer.

Standing behind the trio were around thirty to forty Great Encompassment Stage beings, including some tribal chiefs, as well as Lekima, Xiaobai, Liu Le'er, and Fox 3.

They were also joined by an army of the primordial land's most elite forces, and the two mighty armies had the entire Jade Pond Paradise surrounded in an instant.

......

Meanwhile, in the Ubiquitous Myriad Immortal Array.

With a sweep of his sleeve, Han Li released his seventy-two Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords, all of which were sent hurtling directly toward the four Dao Ancestors that had just stepped into the array.

Dong Lihu sprang forward to position himself at the forefront of the group, shielding his three companions behind him as he joined his palms before thrusting his hands forward.

His hands resembled a pair of sharp swords that parted the space up ahead, and bursts of golden light surged out from within to form a huge mountain. Even though the mountain had no substantial form, it was just as mighty as any mountain.

The flurry of Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords crashed into the mountain, but were unable to penetrate through it. Instead, they blasted a series of holes into the mountain before sliding away to the side, diverted off their original paths.

The seventy-two flying swords flew away into the distance before dispersing and transforming into seventy-two sword spirit children, all of which crossed their arms as they observed the four Dao Ancestors with furrowed brows, seemingly in no hurry to attack or arrange themselves into any arrays.

"What an honor it is to be visited by four Dao Ancestors at once," Han Li said as he approached the four Dao Ancestors with his hands clasped behind his back.
