Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Just to End Some People’s Delusions

Aegis Entertainment, the President’s Office.

"Holy crap, Seth! What on earth did you do at the opening ceremony? How did all these reporters manage to sniff out your affair with Clara Grant?"

The moment River Sterling said that, he was met with a death glare from Seth Quinn. "River, watch your words."

’An affair? What an ugly word.’

"Alright, alright, I’ll watch my words. So, Seth, spill. How exactly did the reporters discover the romance between you two?" Eager for gossip, River Sterling was quick to accept the correction and change his tune.

Linden Jennings didn’t say anything, but he leaned in closer, a look of keen interest on his face.

"They didn’t discover anything," Seth Quinn’s voice drawled. "I’m the one who leaked it to them. I told them to write it."

At his words, the other two men were stunned.

"What the hell, Seth! And here I was, wondering if these media outlets all had a death wish, fighting over who got to publish a scandal about the great President Quinn. I never, ever would have guessed that you were the one who told them to write it!" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Though Linden Jennings wasn’t as overtly shocked as River Sterling, he couldn’t help but ask, "Seth, why would you do that?"

’If he and Clara Grant are really dating, couldn’t they just go public with it? Why the need to deliberately leak it to the media and have them write about some scandal?’

"No particular reason. Just wanted to shatter a certain someone’s delusions," Seth Quinn said, his expression impassive. But a closer look revealed a flicker of ruthlessness in his eyes.

On the day of the opening ceremony, he had already noticed what the reporters were most interested in.

Faye Jennings was well aware of the Quinn family’s rules, and Seth Quinn, of course, knew them even better. That was why he would never allow rumors about him and Faye to run rampant.

To completely extinguish Faye Jennings’s foolish hopes, he had to be decisive.

By ensuring the scandal was about him and Clara Grant, it sent a clear message: even if the Quinn Family didn’t know he and Clara were already married, they would only ever accept Clara as their daughter-in-law. There would be no one else.

’Hopefully, Faye Jennings knows what’s good for her. Aegis was the one that made her a star. As long as she doesn’t go too far, he won’t be the one to destroy her. But if she dares to step out of line, he won’t hesitate to cast her aside.’

What struck him as odd, however—and left him a little disappointed—was how calm Clara Grant was being. She hadn’t even called to demand he take responsibility and fix the situation.

...

Just as Clara Grant had predicted, the moment the scandal about her and Seth Quinn broke, the set was once again buzzing with gossip about her. However, everyone on set had been at the opening ceremony and had seen what happened. So while they had their suspicions about the news reports, they also felt they weren’t very credible.

After all, they had all heard Clara Grant personally deny any connection to President Quinn. Besides, Faye Jennings was in the picture, and she was leagues ahead of Clara in every way. How could it possibly be Clara’s turn to be President Quinn’s girlfriend?

With that in mind, most people just gossiped in private. To Clara Grant’s face, they said nothing, acting as if they had never even seen the reports.

Of course, there was a small minority who already had it out for Clara Grant, and they didn’t hesitate to make passive-aggressive, snide remarks to her face.

Sandra, for example.

Whether it was the people who gossiped behind her back but kept quiet to her face, or the few who deliberately said nasty things in her presence, Clara Grant decided to adopt the same strategy for all of them: ignore them completely.

’After all, explaining would be useless. The more I try, the more it’ll look like I’m trying to cover something up. If I don’t explain, they’ll get bored, and maybe the whole thing will slowly die down.’

So, Clara Grant went about her business as usual, paying no mind to the stares and whispers of others.

Still, she secretly kept an eye on the situation, waiting to see if Seth Quinn would step in to resolve it. But he seemed to be making no moves at all, simply letting the scandal run its course.
