Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Sweet Dream Ruined

"It’s really not like that!" Clara Grant said, giving her a gentle push. "Oh, come on, go finish brushing your teeth. Look at you with that mouthful of foam."

Holly Summers just then remembered she was still brushing her teeth, so she scurried back to the bathroom, muttering to herself.

Watching her go, Clara Grant finally breathed a sigh of relief. Forgetting about finding clothes, she grabbed her phone and scrolled through the news, her expression gradually turning serious. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

The news was flooded with rumors about her and Seth Quinn. Clara Grant couldn’t help but wonder, ’Can people really just write whatever they want about the great President of Aegis Entertainment?’

’Is Seth Quinn just too down-to-earth, or are these reporters just too bold?’

’But regardless, was the storm she had just managed to quell by debunking the rumors about to stir up again on set?’

The thought gave Clara Grant a headache.

She considered calling Seth Quinn to ask him to step in and calm the situation, but in the end, she didn’t make the call.

’Forget it,’ she thought. ’If he wants to fix this, he’ll do it on his own without me calling. If he doesn’t want to, then even if I do call, he won’t step in, will he?’

Clara Grant tossed her phone aside and went back to looking for her clothes.

...

Meanwhile, in Faye Jennings’s room, Faye was on the phone. She was so angry she couldn’t even maintain her usual elegant image, her tone frantic and furious.

"Reporter Chandler, what is wrong with you? Didn’t I tell you to write about the scandal between me and Seth Quinn? Why is it all rumors about Seth Quinn and Clara Grant now?"

When she saw the news swamped with rumors about Seth Quinn and Clara Grant, she nearly exploded with rage.

"Oh, Miss Jennings, I really did write it according to your instructions at first. And I know most of the other reporters were also writing about the scandal between you and President Quinn."

"I already submitted my draft, but it was sent back for a rewrite. The higher-ups specifically demanded that the story had to be about President Quinn and Clara Grant."

"What could I do? I just write the articles. I have to follow orders from the top, don’t I?"

Over the phone, Reporter Chandler’s tone was one of helplessness. He had been hoping to earn Faye Jennings’s money, but defying his superiors’ wishes meant losing his job.

"Why would the higher-ups suddenly kill the story?" Although Faye Jennings was furious, she immediately latched onto the key point.

’Clara Grant was an unknown rookie, while she, Faye Jennings, was an A-list star. Wouldn’t a scandal about her and Seth Quinn be far more eye-catching than one about Clara Grant and Seth Quinn?’

’Why do the opposite? And it was as if all the bosses in the news industry had agreed to change their tune.’

’Isn’t that strange?’

"Miss Jennings, I did hear something," Reporter Chandler said, his voice dropping to a low whisper. "The reason the higher-ups had us all switch to the story about President Quinn and Clara Grant... it seems like it was personally authorized by President Quinn himself. But that’s just what I heard. I don’t know if the source is reliable."

After hanging up, all the fight went out of Faye Jennings.

Even though Reporter Chandler had said he didn’t know if the information was reliable, she knew it was true, nine times out of ten.

’Because if Seth Quinn hadn’t ordered it, who would have thought to specifically write about some unknown little actress?’

’Even if Seth Quinn didn’t handle it himself, he had someone close to him do it.’

At this thought, Faye Jennings gritted her teeth so hard they could have shattered. To think that all her careful planning had gone to waste again, and her beautiful dream had gone up in smoke.

It seemed that ever since Clara Grant appeared, nothing had gone her way. ’It looks like Clara Grant is my nemesis.’

’For now, it’s best if I don’t make any rash moves. When the time is right, I’ll strike a fatal blow and eliminate this formidable rival.’
