A Night of Desire-Chapter 170: Don’t You Think My Brother Is Actually Pretty Good?
But if he didn’t know, why would he have said what he just did?
Unsure if it was sadness or fear, tears began to well up in her eyes.
Gradually, the sadness and fear morphed into jealous resentment. The tears in her eyes vanished, replaced by a lingering hatred.
Clara Grant. It was because of Clara Grant again!
It was all because of Clara Grant!
’No, I refuse to believe that woman has some kind of magic that could make Seth Quinn lose his mind over her.’
’That woman back then was far better than Clara Grant in every way, and even she couldn’t make Seth Quinn treat her like this.’
’What gives Clara Grant the right?’
...
Clara Grant sat in a quiet corner, eating the delicious food on her plate. As she ate, her mood began to lighten.
’Ah, there’s no worry or sorrow that a good meal can’t fix. And if one can’t, then two will.’
The more she ate, the wider Clara Grant’s smile grew, until even her eyes curved into crescents.
She was savoring her food when she heard someone call her name. "Clara."
Clara Grant looked up and saw Miles Quinn walking toward her with a glass of red wine. She quickly forced down the mouthful of food, wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, and stood up shyly, calling out to him, "Senior."
Before, when she called him "Senior," Miles Quinn hadn’t thought much of it, assuming he really was just her upperclassman. But now that he knew she was his sister-in-law, hearing her call him "Senior" felt awkward no matter how he heard it.
He cleared his throat unnaturally and said with a smile, "We’re not in school anymore, and we’re on the same film crew. You can just call me Miles."
When Clara Grant heard him tell her to just call him Miles, her heart skipped a beat. For three years, how many times had she obediently called him "Senior" while silently calling him "Miles" in her heart?
"C-Can I?" Clara Grant was both surprised and nervous. ’Can I finally say his name openly?’
"Of course." ’She’s my sister-in-law, and I’m her brother-in-law. It’s perfectly appropriate for a sister-in-law to call her brother-in-law by his name.’
"Then... I’ll call you Miles from now on?"
Miles Quinn nodded with a smile, sat down beside her, and asked, "Were you scared by what happened today?"
Clara Grant knew he was referring to the unpleasant incidents from earlier. She lowered her eyes, offering a faint smile. "I’m okay."
"Newcomers to the entertainment industry haven’t experienced much yet, so it can be hard to adjust at first. But you’ll get used to it after a while."
After saying that, Miles Quinn added in a low voice, "But you won’t have to get used to it. With my brother around, you won’t have to experience the truly awful and sordid things."
"What?" Clara Grant didn’t quite catch the end of his sentence and looked up to ask.
"Oh, it’s nothing. I was just saying, it’s a good thing my brother was here today. Otherwise, it would have been hard to control the situation."
"Yeah," Clara Grant nodded. "Speaking of which, I still need to thank President Quinn."
"Ahem, you don’t need to thank him... Er, I mean, he’s the boss. Naturally, it’s his responsibility to maintain peace on his set and not let any of his employees be wronged."
Speaking of Seth Quinn, even though Director Keane had already said he’d probably gone back to the city, she still subconsciously asked, "Where is your brother?"
"He went back to the city. There’s a lot of company business waiting for him," Miles Quinn replied, taking a sip of his wine.
"Oh."
’If he’s so busy, why did he come all this way? It’s just...’
Just what, Clara Grant couldn’t quite put into words.
She absently put another bite of food in her mouth, but it was tasteless.
She didn’t even realize it herself, but Seth Quinn’s name could now easily sway her emotions.
Miles Quinn glanced at her, then hesitated before continuing, "Actually, Clara... don’t you think my brother is a pretty great guy?"
