A Journey That Changed The World.-Chapter 1240: Training Them Well
Archer watched as hundreds of thousands of Alliance soldiers formed up just out of range of the Dragonfire Company’s cannons. This annoying him but that’s when Elara commented with an excited gleam in her blue eyes, ’’Can me and Talila fight this husband? The 1st and 2nd are ready?’’
’’Go for it,’’ he answered with a chuckle at her expression. ’’I’ll send two Oathkeepers to protect you.’’
Following that, Archer turned to Thalion and spoke, ’’Send four knights with them. The others are to stay here.’’
The Oathkeeper Commander saluted just as Elara kissed him before rushing off just as Talila appeared with a warm smile. ’’Thanks for trusting me to fight. I can’t wait to show you our training,’’ she said.
’’Good,’’ he replied while grabbing her curvy waist.
Archer leaned in and kissed the beautiful brown-skinned elf, who happily reciprocated it while wrapping her arms around his shoulders. Minutes later, the two separated as his gaze softened as he pulled back, his hand brushing against her cheek.
’’Now be careful out there,’’ he said in a worried tone. ’’I’ll be watching.’’
Talila beamed before taking off while readying her bow and joining the 2nd Legions who were marching out of the fortress. Hours later, Archer was sitting on the fortress wall that bordered the swamp to the east and grasslands to the west.
The 1st Legion assembled. At the forefront stood the Drakeguard, the vanguard of the legion, their massive shields locked together like an impenetrable wall. Behind them, the legionnaires formed ranks.
Their spears gleaming in the light as they prepared to thrust through any opening the Drakeguard created, ready to strike at the advancing Alliance soldiers. Bringing up the rear of the formation were the Dragonblood Knights.
Archer noticed that their white armor and weapons pulsed with mana, and they stood poised to leap into battle the moment the order was given. Then his gaze landed on the 2nd Legion, which was mostly archers and other range attackers.
But there were ranks and ranks of Legionnaires that would protect them or join the 1st in their attack. His gaze landed on rows of cannons lined up just outside the fortress walls.’So many, I bet the Alliance will be surprised after my forces hit them,’ he mused with an excited smile.
The massive weapons gleamed ominously, their barrels angled toward the battlefield, ready to unleash devastating volleys. The sight of such firepower was a display of overwhelming strength.
Following that, hundreds of booms echoed out from the enemy lines. Archer quickly noticed a swarm of spells and projectiles flying toward the legions. He was just about to cast Cosmic Shield, but the mages reacted.
A massive blue shield appeared over the armies just as the wave slammed into the barrier and explosions rang out as the ground shook. Seconds later, the Dragonfire Company opened fire as Elara gave the order.
He watched as the Howler and Flamestorm cannons roared to life, their deafening blasts echoing across the battlefield. Fiery projectiles streaked through the sky, soaring above the ranks of the legion before crashing into the Alliance forces.
The explosions were devastating as the ground shook thanks to the force. Waves of heat and flame erupted, consuming enemy soldiers in an inferno, leaving only ash and scorched earth in their wake.
Archer’s eyes lit up with excitement at the raw destruction. The flames danced wildly, their flickering glow reflecting in his eager gaze as the chaos spread through the enemy ranks and burning them to ash.
Moments later, the 1st Legion began its advance. The synchronized march of heavy boots shook the ground, their shields locking together in a wall while spears jutting forward, ready to strike.

Their formation was almost mechanical, each step calculated as they moved forward like an unstoppable tide of steel. Archer watched as the Alliance soldiers charged with a ferocious war cry, their weapons gleaming under the morning sun.
The ground shook beneath the thunder of their boots, a wave of bodies and steel surging toward the Drakeguard shield wall. He noticed the Drakeguards stood unmoving, their massive shields locked together in an unyielding barrier.
Archer loved that the soldiers’ blackened armor gleamed ominously, and they stood firm and eerie as the Alliance forces collided with them. The sound of screams, steel clashing, and bodies slamming against shields echoed out.
The impact jarred the front line, but the Drakeguards held firm, their shields absorbing the crushing force. Enemy swords and axes glanced off their fortified barrier, unable to find a single weakness.
’’Hold!’’ bellowed a Drakeguard commander, his voice rising above the chaos.
From behind the wall of shields, the Legionnaires moved. Long spears shot forward through the narrow gaps between shields. Each thrust finding its mark in the gaps of armor, throats, or exposed flanks of the Alliance soldiers.
Blood sprayed as enemies fell, their momentum turned against them. A stubborn defense stopped their charge ground to a halt. The Drakeguards pushed back against the pressure as spears shot out and killed dozens of enemy soldiers.
’’Advance!’’ came the command, and the shield wall moved forward.
Seconds later, Archer watched as the 1st advanced, driving the enemy forces back. The Alliance soldiers, now caught in the chaos of their own failing charge, found themselves skewered on spears or smashed against the shields they could not breach.
He saw an enemy warrior climb atop a shield, his sword raised high to strike, but a Drakeguard stepped forward and bashed the man with his shield, sending him sprawling to the ground.
’Well trained and quick reflexes,’ he mused while enjoying the ongoing battle. Continue your adventure at novelbuddy
A spear followed immediately, plunging into the soldier’s chest and silencing him forever. The bodies began piling up at the feet of the 1st Legion. The Alliance soldiers fought with desperation, but their uncoordinated assaults could not pierce the Drakeguard shieldwall.
The ground ran red with blood, and the air was thick with the scent of death. The 1st pressed on, unrelenting. Behind the shield wall, the Legionnaires continued, spears claimed yet more lives.
’Impressive,’ Archer thought with glowing violet eyes. ’Seems like Elara and Talila have been training them well.’
While the battle was underway, he opened a portal that pointed toward the nearby mountain before summoning an army of Drakkuri’s that poured out of the Domain and swarmed all over the wall and mountain side.
The centipede creatures turned to him as a chittering sound echoed out, which shocked the soldiers guarding the wall, but the Oathkeeper didn’t move an inch. Archer smiled when he saw the loyal monsters were waiting for his orders.
’’Climb over the mountains and encircle the enemy army,’’ he commanded in a stern voice. ’’Wait for my signal to attack.’’
When the Drakkuri heard this, they all rushed toward the mountainside and started climbing up. Archer watched the centipede creatures vanished into the cracks, boulders and chasms of the peaks.
After that, Thalion spoke up in a curious voice, ’’Why are you using the monsters, my king?’’
He turned to the Oathkeeper Commander, his expression resolute. ’’I’ll ambush the fleeing soldiers once the legions crush them,’’ he said, his tone sharp and unwavering.
The man gave a firm nod, causing Archer to shift his gaze back to the battlefield just as the tide of battle was turning. The Dragonblood Knights charged forward with the fury of enraged bulls.
Their battle cries echoed like thunder, striking terror in the hearts of the Alliance army. Ahead of them, the Drakeguards broke apart their shield wall to create an opening. When the path was clear, the knights surged through while readying their deadly weapons.
Seconds later, Archer’s eyes gleamed when the Dragonblood Knights slammed into the enemy front ranks. Their giant swords and axes cleaved the soldiers cut them in half with one powerful swing.
That’s when the Alliance sent forward Fire Elf Berserkers that started fighting with the knights and pushed them back. He was shocked but watched as groups of Drakeguards rushed out.
The light infantry swarmed over the giant elves while stabbing them to give the Dragonblood Knights a chance to slaughter more enemies. Archer pulled at out some ale from the Item Box as the 1st Legion continued moving forward as the 2nd covered them from behind.
Archers, mages and other range attackers attacked the rear of the enemy army. Explosions, cries and screaming rang out just as the Alliance magic started blocking their attacks, forcing Talila to order them to stop.
Following that, the 1st continued butchering the soldiers while steadily moving forward as the spears pierced holes through their chests. He was pleased when seeing this and suddenly got a message from the Drakkuri Leader.
’We are waiting, master,’ a quiet male voice sounded in his mind. ’When should we attack?’
Archer looked out over the battlefield and noticed the enemy commanders were ordering a retreat, causing him to reply, ’Five minutes! Bring all the officers and high ranked soldiers to meet but kill the rest.’
