A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 52: Vivian Quincy Is Your Mommy
By now, Hayden Kaye had no mind for Vivian Quincy and Jeremy King’s affairs. His thoughts were consumed by a single name: Beanie Quincy. He remembered the child sitting next to Madam Ford at lunch, in the restaurant near Imperium Group.
He’d seen Beanie when he went to find Vivian, but he hadn’t paid the boy much attention. Later, at the restaurant, Beanie had remained by Madam Ford’s side. While the boy had been quite cheerful the whole time, he actually hadn’t interacted much with Vivian. They almost seemed like they didn’t know each other well.
But the name "Beanie" continued to trouble Hayden Kaye.
’What if that "Beanie" really is Vivian’s son...’
Hayden Kaye recalled how Madam Ford had treated the child earlier. It had been exceptionally good! She took care of the boy so meticulously; she was clearly not the type to look down on a child. ’What if Vivian manages to win over Madam Ford and then throws herself into Ninth Uncle’s arms...’
The further his thoughts spiraled, the more a sense of dread washed over Hayden Kaye. He shot to his feet. "I have something I need to confirm. I’m leaving now."
"Confirm what?" Wanda Quincy stood up, curious.
Hayden Kaye warned, "It has nothing to do with you. You’d best not pry."
Grabbing his car keys, Hayden Kaye hurried out and drove straight to the Ford Estate. The butler recognized him and came running out with a smile to open the gate. "Master Kaye, what brings you here?"
"Is Madam Ford home?" Hayden Kaye asked.
The butler replied, "Yes, she’s upstairs. Do you have business with her, Master Kaye?"
"I... just came to see her..." Hayden Kaye didn’t state his purpose. After parking the car, he went inside. The first person he saw wasn’t Madam Ford, but Beanie, who was playing in the first-floor living room. The little guy was holding a tablet, tapping away at the screen at who-knows-what.
As Hayden Kaye walked over, Beanie noticed him immediately. In almost the same instant, he closed the page on his tablet, looked up, and said with a smile, "Uncle Kaye, what are you doing here?"
Hayden Kaye crouched down, studying Beanie’s small, palm-sized face intently. ’If you don’t look closely, you can’t really tell,’ he thought, ’but this kid really does look a bit like Vivian!’ 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
His breathing suddenly quickened. Hayden Kaye asked in a low voice, "Your name is Beanie, right?"
Though the question was calm, it made Beanie suspicious. He blinked his big, beautiful eyes and twitched his lips into a smile. "It is. What’s wrong?"
"Is Vivian Quincy your mommy?" Hayden Kaye continued to ask.
Beanie hadn’t expected him to be so direct. His heart hammered in his chest, but despite his nervousness, he hid it well. He shook his head and asked with a look of confusion, "Who’s Vivian Quincy?"
"You don’t know her?" Hayden Kaye was shocked.
’His name is Beanie, how could he possibly not know Vivian Quincy?’
Beanie pouted unhappily. "You’re so weird, Uncle. You just show up and say some random name. How would I know who that is?"
"Vivian Quincy is the lady who sat across from you today." Hayden Kaye stared seriously into Beanie’s eyes, trying to see if the child was lying.
The eyes are the windows to the soul.
’If Beanie was lying, Hayden Kaye would be able to tell immediately!’
Beanie, realizing he was under suspicion, was no fool. He turned to the butler and said, "Tell this uncle what my mother’s name is."
The butler nodded and said with a smile, "Master Kaye, Beanie’s mother is named Anna, not Vivian Quincy. Where did you hear that name? I think you must have the wrong person."
"Anna?" Hayden Kaye was puzzled. He thought for a long time but had no memory of such a person. He then pestered Beanie for a photo. At first, Beanie refused, but after much wheedling, he reluctantly pulled out a picture to show him.
It really wasn’t Vivian Quincy.
’It seems I was overthinking things.’
’How could Vivian possibly leave her child to be raised at Ninth Uncle’s house? My Ninth Uncle isn’t the kind of person with that much free time. They have no connection, so there’s no way Ninth Uncle would help someone raise their child.’
Beanie kept staring at Hayden Kaye’s face and noticed that he actually smiled when he heard the name Anna. ’Does this uncle not like me?’
Beanie remembered that Hayden Kaye was Vivian’s first love. He’d even heard at lunch that they used to be very close. He didn’t know how Hayden had found out about him, but it was clear that Hayden seemed to look down on his mommy—or more accurately, on his mommy for having a child.
The good impression he originally had of Hayden Kaye instantly vanished. A faint smile remained on Beanie’s face as he said, "Do you have any other questions, Uncle Kaye?"
"No, none." Hayden Kaye shook his head.
"Then I’m going upstairs. You can play by yourself." Beanie casually stuffed a building block into Hayden Kaye’s hand and turned to go upstairs.
Hayden Kaye didn’t press further. He said to the butler, "I’ll be leaving now."
The butler tried to persuade him to stay. "Aren’t you going upstairs to greet Madam Ford, Master Kaye?"
"I already greeted her at noon." Hayden Kaye turned and left. He drove slowly out of the Ford family villa, but at the corner, he ran into Wanda Quincy. She was sitting in her car, watching the Ford Estate.
"How dare you follow me!" Hayden Kaye was furious, not expecting her to be there.
Caught red-handed, Wanda Quincy didn’t deny it. She asked, "I told you about Beanie Quincy, so what are you doing here at the Ford’s? Don’t tell me that child is living inside?"
"Use your brain. Is that even possible?" Hayden Kaye shot back sarcastically.
Wanda Quincy nodded. "I didn’t think it was possible either. That’s why I came over to check, and also to tell you something. Jasper Ford is taking Vivian Quincy to the charity gala hosted by the Morgan Family, and she’s attending as his date."
"Isn’t she his assistant?" Hayden Kaye’s brows furrowed tightly when he heard the word "date."
Wanda Quincy said, "Who knows what kind of dirty tricks Vivian Quincy used to make Jasper care about her so much. I suggest you go to the charity gala and see for yourself. What if something happens..." She trailed off, letting him fill in the blanks.
...
Vivian Quincy sneezed the entire way, feeling like someone was cursing her name.
She slowed down the car, rubbed her throat, and glanced at Jasper Ford in the rearview mirror. He had been looking at documents ever since he got in the car, looking very busy. Vivian Quincy said, "President, I pushed your fiancée over. Aren’t you angry?"
The man didn’t move, not saying a word.
Vivian Quincy continued, "Actually, I did it on purpose. I just can’t stand her, so I pushed her over intentionally. If you hadn’t arrived when you did, I would have slapped her a couple of times too."
Jasper Ford slowly lifted his head and looked at her.
Vivian Quincy straightened her back, waiting for Jasper Ford to scold her. But the man just glanced at her before looking back down at his documents, as calm as ever!
’Vivian Quincy felt Jasper Ford’s reaction was abnormal. Logically, he should be furious. But looking at that face, completely devoid of anger...’
"Aren’t you angry, President?" she couldn’t help but ask.
Jasper Ford replied, "I’m not angry."
"I think you should fire me. I’m not a good person," Vivian Quincy continued to remind him.
The man rolled down the window, glanced at a nearby shopping mall, and said, "Find a place to park up ahead."
"Are you going shopping, President?" Vivian Quincy asked curiously.
Jasper Ford smiled devilishly. "I just suddenly thought of how to punish you."
