A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 155: Jasper Ford Doesn’t Love Me Anymore
Vivian Quincy mulled it over. ’This is a trap!’
If she agreed now, Jasper Ford would surely be furious. Once Madam Ford left, she’d be the one facing his wrath.
So, Vivian Quincy smiled and said, "Madam Ford, there’s still a lot to do at the office today, so I really can’t get away. I’ll make time to go see Hayden after work."
"Hayden has been waiting for you. Don’t keep him waiting too long," Madam Ford reminded her.
Vivian Quincy nodded. "I understand. I’ll go over as soon as I can."
"Good." Madam Ford was relieved. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Wanda Quincy waiting outside, not daring to enter. Her gaze then shifted to Jasper Ford, and she found him more displeasing by the second, unable to fathom how her own son could be so blind.
’Forget it. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.’
Madam Ford had Vivian Quincy escort her downstairs.
Vivian Quincy nodded in agreement.
As they brushed past Wanda Quincy, Wanda made a point of greeting Madam Ford. But the old woman just gave a haughty nod, not even grunting in response, and hurried Vivian Quincy along, walking away quickly.
Wanda Quincy looked hurt. She walked into Jasper Ford’s office, her eyes welling with tears as if she were about to burst into sobs.
Everyone in the department saw this unfold, and some began to whisper among themselves.
"Did you see that? Madam Ford clearly doesn’t like Wanda Quincy."
"Wanda Quincy tried to greet her several times, but she wouldn’t even give her a look. So arrogant. Just what you’d expect from one of those elite families, looking down on Wanda."
Hearing her two colleagues, Summer Jacobs retorted unhappily, "What do you know? Wanda Quincy is the designated future Young Madam of the Ford Family. Isn’t it normal for Madam Ford to be a little strict with her?"
"A rejected Young Madam, though. That’s a first for us," someone snickered.
Summer Jacobs fumed. "Don’t talk nonsense! She was framed! The CEO has already made up with Wanda. Keep this up and you’ll get yourselves fired."
"If the CEO had really made up with Wanda, he wouldn’t be acting like this. If you ask me, he treats Vivian Quincy better than he treats Wanda."
"Exactly. And besides, Vivian Quincy is gorgeous."
Summer Jacobs snapped, "That bitch is beautiful? Are you all blind? What’s so great about that pointy face and those huge eyes? She looks like an alien. Just looking at her makes me lose my appetite!"
Although the male colleagues didn’t want to get involved in the women’s squabbles, they couldn’t help but speak up after hearing Summer Jacobs’s assessment. "Vivian Quincy really is very beautiful."
"Yeah, she’s fair-skinned and gorgeous, and her eyes seem to hold a whole galaxy. If Master Kaye weren’t already pursuing her, I’d be tempted to try myself," another man replied.
Summer Jacobs: "You bunch of shallow men! Vivian Quincy isn’t the least bit attractive!"
The "shallow men" shot back, "At least she’s prettier than you."
Summer Jacobs was absolutely livid!
’Are these men blind?’ she fumed inwardly. ’How could they think that ugly hag Vivian Quincy is pretty? She can’t even hold a candle to Wanda!’
"You just wait! When Wanda Quincy becomes the CEO’s wife, your jobs will be on the line!" Summer Jacobs warned threateningly.
The Chief Secretary walked over. "Get back to your desk. If you have this much free time to argue, why don’t you spend it reflecting on your work performance? If you’re at the bottom of the attendance rankings again this month, don’t blame me for making an example of you."
Summer Jacobs panicked. "You wouldn’t dare! I’m with Wanda Quincy."
"Right now, you’re an employee of this company. If you can’t complete your assignments, I’ll report you to the CEO, regardless of who you’re with," the Chief Secretary warned.
Summer Jacobs felt deeply wronged. "Why is everyone taking Vivian Quincy’s side? What’s so great about her?"
"Before you ask that question, you should take a good look in the mirror. Assistant Quincy works diligently every day, doing the work of several people by herself. Now look at the tasks assigned to you—a week has passed, and you still haven’t finished them. How do you have the nerve to ask something like that?" the Chief Secretary shot back.
Summer Jacobs didn’t dare say another word, afraid she’d only get another scolding. But she blamed it all on Vivian Quincy. ’It’s all that little bitch’s fault I got yelled at. As soon as Wanda comes out of the CEO’s office, I’m going to tell on Vivian, and I won’t hold back!’
「Inside the CEO’s office.」
Jasper Ford had no intention of dealing with Wanda Quincy and tried to send her away in under ten minutes.
Wanda Quincy was reluctant to leave. "Jasper," she said pitifully, "I just got here, and it’s almost time for lunch. I want to stay and spend a little more time with you."
"That won’t be necessary." Jasper Ford rejected her offer bluntly.
Wanda’s eyes welled up again. "Can’t you stop being so harsh? Madam Ford already yelled at me. Please don’t you be harsh with me too."
Her voice was filled with grievance, with a distinct, tearful catch.
Jasper Ford looked up impatiently, his gaze locking onto her. "If my mother reprimanded you, it means you did something wrong. If you feel she was wrong, you’re free to turn around and leave."
"She’s your mother. How could I just walk out? Wouldn’t that be disrespectful to you?" Wanda Quincy shook her head, her every word implying she would endure any grievance for Jasper’s sake.
Jasper Ford: "Are you done?"
Wanda Quincy froze for a second before belatedly nodding. "I’m done."
"Get out. And close the door on your way." Jasper Ford casually picked up a contract from his desk and began to read, clearly having no intention of paying her any more mind.
The corner of Wanda Quincy’s mouth twitched, and the color drained from her lips. Suppressing her feelings of injustice, she asked pitifully, "Jasper, I came all this way just to see you. Can’t you let me stay for just a little while longer?"
"I can’t work with you here," Jasper Ford replied.
Wanda Quincy was confused. ’Why can’t he work? Is it because I’m so beautiful that I’m distracting him, affecting his efficiency?’
’She knew it! Jasper couldn’t be that heartless toward her.’
’It seems Jasper still loves her very much.’
Wanda Quincy said, "Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t disturb you. I’ll just sit here quietly and watch you work. I promise I won’t make a sound."
Jasper Ford lifted his head, his expression cold. "It seems you can’t understand plain language. Get out."
The last two words were a command!
Startled, Wanda Quincy shot up from her seat, biting her lip.
"Go cry outside," Jasper Ford said, his patience wearing thin.
’Jasper doesn’t love me anymore!’
Wanda Quincy felt even more aggrieved.
Jasper had rarely ever yelled at her like this. At most, he’d just treated her as if she were invisible. But now, he had actually shouted at her.
Wanda Quincy was heartbroken, but she didn’t dare defy Jasper Ford’s command. Wiping her tears, she composed herself and walked toward the door.
Jasper Ford picked up his office phone and dialed out. "Have Vivian Quincy get ready. She’s coming with me to meet a client for lunch."
"Yes, CEO," the Chief Secretary replied.
Wanda Quincy glanced back at Jasper, who had just hung up the phone. The hand at her side clenched into a tight fist.
’Vivian! Quincy!’
’I won’t let you get away with this.’
’Don’t think you can take my place just because you work in Jasper’s company. A filthy woman like you could never compare to me. Trying to marry up? Over my dead body!’
’And Beanie Quincy... I can’t let that child stick around any longer!’
