A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 140: Jasper Ford Peeks at Vivian Quincy
Caden Chandler quickly corrected himself. "My bad. Oh, right, President, the contract with the Landon Group you wanted to sign is still with Vivian Quincy. My stomach hurts, and I need to use the restroom. Could you go ask her for it yourself?"
"Mm," the man replied with a single, expressionless word, as cold and detached as ever.
Caden Chandler’s gossipy little heart pounded with excitement. He suppressed a smile as he left the office, thinking, ’This President sure knows how to put on a show! If you want to go talk to Vivian Quincy, just say so. What’s the point of sneaking glances?’
’When did his domineering, brilliant, and formidable President become so... shy!’
Caden Chandler covered his mouth to hide a snicker and hurried away, afraid Jasper Ford would notice. He didn’t actually go to the restroom. Instead, he hid in a corner to peek. Sure enough, he saw the President walking toward Vivian Quincy, who was packing up her things to go home for the day!
As usual, there was no trace of warmth on Jasper Ford’s incredibly handsome face. "Where are the Landon Group documents?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Vivian Quincy looked up at the sound of his voice. Surprised to see Jasper Ford, she quickly rummaged for the documents he wanted. "Here they are."
As Jasper Ford took them, he glanced at her desk. "Did I say you could leave?"
Vivian Quincy froze. ’It’s quitting time. If I don’t leave now, what am I supposed to do?’ Looking at Jasper Ford’s obviously angry face, she asked, "Is there anything else you need me to do, President?"
"No," Jasper Ford said grimly.
"In that case, I’ll be getting off work now." Vivian Quincy then took Beanie by the hand to leave with her.
Jasper Ford looked displeased. He sharply called out to Vivian Quincy, telling her to finish the work Caden Chandler was supposed to handle and hand it over to him.
Vivian Quincy now understood why Jasper Ford was being so strange. ’He’s targeting me on purpose!’
But Vivian Quincy wasn’t one to be pushed around by Jasper Ford. She went directly to Caden Chandler for the documents.
Caden Chandler had actually already finished the work, but sensing the hostile aura radiating from his President, he shook his head awkwardly. "Sorry, I haven’t gotten it done yet."
"President, Caden Chandler hasn’t finished it, so you can just ask him for it later. My shift is over, and I don’t get paid for overtime, so I don’t plan on staying late." The girl’s beautiful, wide eyes were filled with a pure and earnest light. Ignoring Jasper Ford completely, she took Beanie and walked away.
That little traitor Beanie was infuriating too. He left without even saying goodbye to Jasper Ford. This made Jasper Ford very unhappy, giving him the false impression that his own precious treasure was being led astray by someone else!
"President, should we call Vivian Quincy back and punish her with overtime?" Caden Chandler eagerly suggested the terrible idea once Vivian was out of earshot.
Jasper Ford shot him a sideways glance. "You can work the overtime."
Caden Chandler’s mouth twitched violently, and he suddenly felt the urge to cry. ’Didn’t the President love punishing Vivian Quincy with overtime before? Why the sudden change of heart? I never should have opened my big mouth about the President and Vivian Quincy’s business!’
And so, the miserable Caden Chandler was left behind at the office to work overtime.
Jasper Ford took his car keys and went downstairs. He didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he watched from afar as Vivian Quincy and Beanie walked off. They were heading in the direction of the Thornton Group, so they clearly weren’t going home. They were going to see Anna.
Jasper Ford relaxed. He started the car, preparing to leave, but his hand on the parking brake froze. His expression grew incredibly complex as he watched a handsome young man approach Vivian Quincy, the corner of his own mouth twitching faintly.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Hayden Kaye’s number. "Where are you?"
"I’m at the office," Hayden Kaye replied, his voice exceptionally cheerful.
Jasper Ford demanded, "Whose office?"
"Ninth Uncle, you’re being weird. I just got off work. Whose office could I possibly be at?" Hayden Kaye answered evasively, a hint of impatience in his tone. "Alright, Ninth Uncle, I can’t talk now. I’m going to dinner. Gotta go."
From his car, Jasper Ford watched helplessly as his usually obedient nephew acted like a pathetic simp, "inviting" Vivian Quincy and Beanie into his car.
Then, they arrived at Anna’s company, and Hayden Kaye followed Vivian Quincy inside. They were practically inseparable!
Jasper Ford seethed with frustration as he watched, completely powerless. He couldn’t force Vivian Quincy back to the office to work overtime, nor could he call Hayden Kaye away. After all, Hayden wouldn’t just obediently leave at a time like this.
’In the end, it was all Vivian Quincy’s fault,’ he thought. ’She’s just too good at seducing men!’
He sat in his car, waiting outside the Thornton Group for a long time. Overcome with boredom, Jasper Ford lit a cigarette, holding it between his fingers without taking a drag. He lost track of time, but finally, he saw Vivian Quincy and the others emerge and head to a nearby restaurant.
The sight irritated Jasper Ford, but he didn’t follow them. Just then, his phone rang. It was Wanda Quincy.
"Jasper, are you free? I’d like to take you out to dinner," Wanda Quincy said coyly.
"I’m busy," Jasper Ford replied impatiently. But then, an idea struck him. "Where are you?"
Heartbroken, Wanda Quincy was stunned for several seconds before she managed to reply, "I’m in the Prosperity District."
Jasper Ford glanced at the restaurant’s sign. "Come find me at The Golden Grain Restaurant."
With that, he hung up.
Wanda Quincy was thrilled. She quickly looked up The Golden Grain Restaurant and rushed over. When she saw the sign, however, she felt a little strange. The restaurant didn’t look particularly upscale; it seemed like a regular eatery. ’Why would someone with Jasper Ford’s status come to a place like this?’
Deeply puzzled, Wanda Quincy got out of her car and looked for Jasper Ford. She spotted him quickly, but he paid her little attention. Though he clearly saw her, he didn’t even greet her before heading straight upstairs.
The restaurant was spacious but not particularly luxurious, and it had no private rooms. Wanda Quincy was wondering why on earth Jasper Ford would choose such a place when her eyes fell on Beanie Quincy in the distance. The color instantly drained from her exquisitely made-up face.
Wanda Quincy was utterly shocked. ’Why is Beanie Quincy here?’
Looking past him, she saw that it wasn’t just Beanie Quincy. Vivian Quincy was there too, along with Hayden Kaye and Anna. The whole group was sitting together at a round table.
Wanda Quincy nervously glanced at Jasper Ford, who was walking ahead of her, wondering if he had noticed Vivian’s table. He hadn’t so much as turned his head, so she assumed he hadn’t seen them.
Wanda Quincy hurried to catch up, positioning herself on Jasper Ford’s left. "Jasper, the ambiance here is pretty bad, don’t you think? Why don’t we go to a different restaurant?"
"This place is fine," Jasper Ford replied curtly, choosing a table far from Vivian Quincy’s group.
Wanda Quincy was on pins and needles, feeling completely unsettled. She didn’t have the nerve to just drag Jasper Ford away, but thankfully, the table he chose was far enough away that she could relax a little. She kept trying to find topics of conversation to capture his attention.
But the man showed little interest in her. He took the menu, ordered a few dishes, and then fell silent.
Wanda Quincy asked awkwardly, "Are you in a bad mood today?"
"Mm," the man hummed faintly, the single sound still pleasant to the ear.
Wanda Quincy hadn’t expected Jasper Ford to even acknowledge his mood to her. She was flattered, thinking her standing with him had improved. She immediately started trying to find topics to cheer him up.
Jasper Ford put down the menu. "Shut up."
