Chapter 116: Chapter 116: I’m Not Interested in You

Vivian Quincy was startled by Jasper Ford!

She shot up in bed, clutching the blanket and inching backward. She looked up, alarmed. "How did you get in?"

"You didn’t lock the door," the man replied.

Vivian Quincy glanced toward the door, biting her lip.

Jasper Ford walked to her bedside.

Startled, Vivian Quincy scrambled back. She looked up and forced a difficult smile at Jasper Ford. "Do you need me for something, President Ford?"

"On your chest..."

"What do you think you’re doing?"

Vivian Quincy hastily covered her chest, glaring at Jasper Ford. Her voice was sharp.

She had the look of someone who had just been accosted.

Jasper Ford swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue and said coldly, "Rest assured, I’m not interested in you."

"That remains to be seen," Vivian Quincy mumbled, pouting. "It’s late, I’m young and beautiful... Old men like you are the most susceptible to temptation..." Her voice trailed off.

But Jasper Ford heard every single word.

The man lowered his gaze, his ice-cold hand gripping her face.

Terrified by the gesture, Vivian Quincy tried to pull back. "What do you think you’re doing, President Ford?" she asked nervously.

"Repeat what you just said," Jasper Ford commanded.

Vivian Quincy puffed out her cheeks and said quietly, "That remains to be seen."

"Not that part. The next part," Jasper Ford pressed.

Her voice was barely a whisper as she said reluctantly, "It’s... late..."

"And the next part!" Jasper Ford’s patience with Vivian Quincy wore thin, and he snapped at her.

Her small frame trembled in fear, and she rushed to say, "It’s late and I’m young and beautiful! That’s it! There’s nothing after that!" She shamelessly denied it.

Jasper Ford let out a soft chuckle, his cool fingers gently caressing her cheek. "You said men like me are the most susceptible to temptation."

"No, President Ford, you’re wise and powerful, a true gentleman with unshakable self-control. I was blind, I was just spouting nonsense," Vivian Quincy quickly backtracked, showering him with praise.

Jasper Ford let out a low chuckle. His clear, hearty laughter was pleasing to the ear and utterly captivating.

Vivian Quincy was mesmerized. The man’s voice was incredibly alluring. A faint blush crept onto her cheeks, and her heart began to race.

The man suddenly leaned close to her ear and whispered, "You’re wrong. I can’t resist temptation at all."

His voice was deep, magnetic, and incredibly pleasant.

The girl’s spine stiffened. As his warm breath caressed her ear, a tingling sensation spread through her entire body. Her limbs suddenly felt as heavy as lead; she couldn’t move. Her heart hammered against her ribs, and her cheeks grew hotter and hotter. ’I can’t take this anymore...’

"P-President Ford, please don’t," she stammered, not even realizing how much softer and more breathless her voice had become.

His long fingers tilted her chin up. "Tempt me one more time," he said, "and I can’t guarantee I won’t do something you’ll regret."

The girl managed a weak smile, mustering the last of her courage. "You wouldn’t, President Ford."

"Try me," he chuckled softly, releasing his hand, which had gone from ice-cold to scorching hot.

It was true that Jasper Ford had impeccable self-control. It was also true that he wasn’t interested in women. But for some reason, when it came to Vivian Quincy, a single word from her could leave him completely unsettled.

Jasper Ford had realized it the first time she’d panted softly in his arms: he had absolutely no immunity to this woman.

If Vivian Quincy were to pounce on him right now, Jasper Ford was certain he would lose control and take her.

And that was despite him being a germaphobe.

Taking a deep breath, Jasper Ford turned and left. He was afraid that if he stayed and exchanged even a few more words with Vivian Quincy, something uncontrollable would happen.

He even remembered to close the door on his way out.

Afraid he would come back, Vivian Quincy immediately ran to bolt the door. But then she worried that Beanie might come looking for her in the night and not be able to get in. She opened the door and glanced toward Madam Ford’s bedroom not far away. The lights were off; they must be asleep.

’Whatever, locking the door is more important.’ Vivian Quincy quickly bolted it shut.

She slept soundly until morning.

Vivian Quincy was up early to brush her teeth and wash her face.

She had wanted to check on Beanie first, but while everyone else was awake, Beanie was still fast asleep. Madam Ford said he was going through a growth spurt and should be allowed to sleep in, so Vivian Quincy didn’t dare wake him. After breakfast, she waited for Jasper Ford to get his things so they could go to the company together.

Caden Chandler was already waiting outside. Not wanting to wait for Jasper Ford any longer, Vivian Quincy got into the car to chat with Caden.

Caden Chandler asked with a grin, "Assistant Quincy, sleep well last night?"

There was a hint of mischief in his voice.

Vivian Quincy said in a low voice, "Why’d you take off so fast yesterday? Because of you, I couldn’t go home."

"Isn’t President Ford’s house nice enough for you? It’s a huge villa with great light, fresh air, and a perfect orientation. So many people work their whole lives and could never afford a place like this. You should be counting your lucky stars." Caden Chandler was never stingy with his praise for Jasper Ford.

Listening to him, it sounded like she was the one who came out ahead, but she didn’t feel that way at all! ’Last night, Jasper Ford almost...!’

An embarrassed look crossed her face. She clearly didn’t want to relive the events of last night.

The ever-astute Caden Chandler sensed something was up and leaned in with a mischievous grin. "What’s wrong? Did President Ford do something to you last night?"

"Don’t be ridiculous!" Vivian Quincy was so startled she nearly jumped out of her seat, retorting in a fluster.

Caden Chandler burst out laughing. "I was just asking! Why such a big reaction? Looks like President Ford really did do something to you. He’s not one to waste his time, you know. His standards are incredibly high—he won’t even give the gorgeous Secretary Cain a second glance at the office. Come on, tell me what happened last night."

Vivian Quincy’s cheeks burned as she recalled Jasper Ford’s words from the night before. She deliberately turned to look out the window. "He didn’t say anything. Stop asking."

"Even your ears are red," Caden teased. "Don’t tell me... President Ford ’touched’ you?"

A man’s idea of "touching" and a woman’s are two very different things.

In this context, Caden’s "touching" clearly implied something intimate, leaving Vivian Quincy both furious and flustered. She wished she could grab something to shut his foul mouth. "How can a grown man like you say such filthy things!" she said indignantly.

"Well, who’s the one hemming and hawing? If you just tell me the truth, my imagination won’t have to run wild. Who knows what a man and a woman might get up to when they’re all alone together," Caden said, feigning innocence.

Vivian Quincy’s cheeks grew even redder. She explained, a mix of shame and indignation in her voice, "We didn’t do anything! And we weren’t ’all alone.’ Think about it, how could we possibly have that kind of relationship?"

"You’re right. President Ford is way out of your league," Caden Chandler nodded with a straight face.

Vivian Quincy: "..."

She felt not only violated but also personally insulted!

’I don’t want to be colleagues with someone like Caden Chandler anymore,’ she thought. ’He’ll be the death of me!’
