A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 106: Jasper Ford Hit Me for Her
Beanie was being very good—so good, it made one suspicious.
In Jasper Ford’s mind, Beanie was clearly closer to him. Yet at this moment, the boy was single-mindedly sticking by Vivian Quincy’s side, turning a deaf ear to anything he said.
Jasper Ford watched Vivian Quincy’s retreating back, his gaze growing deeper.
He didn’t try to stop her. Sitting in his car, he watched from a distance as Vivian Quincy walked away. His long, slender hand rested lazily on the car door. After a long moment, he lit a cigarette, a thousand thoughts running through his mind.
A shadow from his memory overlapped with Vivian Quincy’s retreating figure. That feeling of déjà vu, amplified by her daily presence, grew stronger and stronger in Jasper Ford’s mind. Even though he disliked the woman, he couldn’t shake the feeling that she was familiar.
Hazy smoke blurred the car’s interior, and Jasper Ford’s vision grew dim. He didn’t start the car until Vivian Quincy had completely vanished from sight. Then, he drove toward the Quincy Family estate.
It was already quite late.
When Wanda Quincy heard that Jasper Ford had come to see her in person, she ran excitedly into the courtyard. With a look of delightful shyness, she called out sweetly, "Jasper, what brings you here?"
The man didn’t answer, his back turned to her.
Wanda Quincy, dressed in her pajamas, crept up behind him, intending to surprise him with a hug. But the moment her hand touched his waist, it was seized by his large, powerful palm.
"AH! Jasper, that hurts!" Wanda Quincy cried out in pain.
There wasn’t a trace of warmth in Jasper Ford’s cold, indifferent eyes. His grip didn’t lessen in the slightest; he was angry enough to snap her wrist in two.
The pain drained all the color from Wanda Quincy’s face. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to her knees with a THUD, her lips turning pale.
Seeing that something was wrong, Fiona Hughes rushed out of the house. "Jasper, what are you doing? Let go of her, quickly!"
She rushed forward to rescue Wanda, but Jasper Ford shot her a glacial look. Fiona Hughes froze, her legs refusing to move. She swallowed hard, mustering her courage to ask with great difficulty, "What has Wanda done wrong?"
"You two went to see Vivian Quincy," the man said, each word spoken with cold precision.
Wanda Quincy’s already pale face fell. She finally understood why Jasper Ford was so furious. She scrambled to explain, "Did she tell on me? I didn’t go looking for her today, Jasper, don’t believe her! She’s just a li— AHH!"
The man had no concept of showing pity to a woman. His eyes were like shards of ice.
Terrified, Wanda Quincy trembled and shot a pleading look at Fiona Hughes.
Seeing that Wanda’s hand was about to be crushed, Fiona Hughes threw caution to the wind and took all the blame. "It was all my fault! It has nothing to do with Wanda. She’s so kind-hearted she wouldn’t even hurt a fly. How could she possibly harm Vivian Quincy? If you must blame someone, blame me."
"Jasper, I really don’t know anything! Please let go, my hand feels like it’s going to break," Wanda Quincy sobbed, begging for mercy.
The man coldly released his grip.
As if a great weight had been lifted, Wanda Quincy slumped to the ground, wiping tears from her eyes.
Jasper Ford said, "Wanda Quincy, don’t you forget who gave you everything you have. You’d best not stir up any more trouble. Otherwise..."
He left the threat hanging in the air, turned with sharp, fluid grace, and walked away, leaving nothing but his merciless back.
As the car slowly pulled out of the Quincy Family courtyard, a still-shaken Wanda Quincy stared blankly at Jasper’s departing figure. She took Fiona Hughes’s outstretched hand and pulled herself to her feet. "Mom, did you see that? Jasper actually hurt me because of Vivian Quincy."
"My dear, what are we going to do?" Fiona Hughes panicked as well. Who could have guessed that after only a few days at Imperium Group, Jasper Ford would already be protecting Vivian to this extent?
If this continued, her position as the future Young Madam of the Ford Family would be in jeopardy!
Wanda Quincy was terrified too. "Then what should we do? Mom, Vivian Quincy is already Jasper’s assistant, and Beanie Quincy is on very good terms with Madam Ford. I may have officially been with Jasper for six years, but you know we haven’t so much as held hands in all that time."
"And you have the nerve to bring that up! It took Vivian Quincy just a few days to become Jasper Ford’s personal assistant, and now they’re seen everywhere together. In six years, you haven’t even managed to sleep with him! What am I supposed to say to that?" The more Fiona Hughes thought about it, the angrier she became, and she couldn’t resist jabbing a finger hard into Wanda Quincy’s forehead.
Wanda Quincy said, "Mom, you can’t blame me for that."
"We’ll see if you’re to blame or not when your fiancé is stolen from you!" Fiona Hughes stormed back into the house and called for a private doctor to examine the hand Jasper Ford had injured.
The injury was quite severe; it would likely take three or four days to heal. miscellaneous content
Fiona Hughes fumed, "This is outrageous! You’re his nominal fiancée, after all. How could he raise a hand to a woman like you!"
Wanda Quincy said, "Vivian Quincy must have been fanning the flames. Mom, I told you back then we shouldn’t have let her go. I said we should have made her disappear for good, but you didn’t agree. Now look what’s happened. What do we do?"
"Let me think... What’s the situation with Mrs. King?" Fiona Hughes asked.
Wanda Quincy replied, "She couldn’t do anything to Vivian Quincy, either. In fact, she even got beaten by Jeremy King for trying."
Fiona Hughes frowned. "Didn’t she go looking for trouble with Vivian Quincy?"
"She did," Wanda Quincy confirmed with a nod.
Fiona Hughes was bewildered. "She went, and Jasper Ford still protected her so fiercely?"
The words stung Wanda Quincy’s heart. This was precisely what she envied most about Vivian Quincy. Rumors had already spread through all of Imperium Group that Vivian was a promiscuous, unvirtuous woman, yet Jasper Ford acted as if he hadn’t heard a single word.
She and Fiona Hughes had barely done anything to Vivian, and yet Jasper Ford had become that furious!
Wanda Quincy was nearly driven mad with jealousy, her hands clenching into tight fists at her sides.
"Don’t say any more," Wanda Quincy cut her mother off.
But Fiona Hughes pressed, "Why not? Are you just going to endure all this?"
"And if I can’t? What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to go kill Vivian Quincy and that little bastard myself?" Wanda Quincy felt utterly wronged, and shimmering tears welled up in her eyes.
Fiona Hughes couldn’t bear to see her precious daughter so aggrieved. She pulled Wanda into a comforting embrace. "Don’t be afraid, Wanda. Mom will never let anyone destroy your happiness. If Vivian Quincy dares to try, I promise you, I will make her and her son disappear for good."
"You’re the best." Moved, Wanda’s eyes filled with tears as she threw herself into her mother’s arms and cried for a while.
Fiona Hughes wiped the tears from Wanda’s eyes. "Come with me to The Nightfall Gala."
"Mom, are you thinking...?" A gleam appeared in Wanda Quincy’s eyes.
Fiona Hughes said, "We’re going to find Manager Lewis."
The Nightfall Gala was Crestfall’s largest underground nightlife establishment. It was a den of unsavory characters, and its owner was a notorious figure in the criminal underworld. Rumor had it that he used to specialize in robbery and murder. Though he had supposedly "washed his hands" of that life, his enterprises had only grown larger and more audacious.
Years ago, after Vivian Quincy ran away, Manager Lewis had led his men to the Quincy estate several times to trash the place. He had nearly killed Fiona Hughes, and Wanda Quincy had narrowly escaped being assaulted. Fortunately, Jasper Ford had stepped in and settled the matter.
However, Manager Lewis had never gotten over it.
The two entered The Nightfall Gala and gave Manager Lewis Vivian Quincy’s home address. Wanda said, "The Vivian Quincy you’ve been looking for is back."
Manager Lewis was surprised. "President Quincy, that was years ago. Why bring it up now?"
Wanda Quincy said, "I don’t like owing favors, and I especially don’t want to offend your boss. Even though Jasper Ford resolved the issue back then, we still feel guilty about how it all went down. Since Vivian Quincy has returned, you can go and take her back."
"It’s been six years. She must be getting old by now, huh? We only take young girls here." Manager Lewis was clearly disdainful of the idea.
Wanda Quincy smiled and handed him a photograph. "She might be a little older, but her looks..."
A look of stunned amazement flashed across Manager Lewis’s eyes.
