A Favor Done, A Husband Won-Chapter 448 - 442: Don’t Keep Your Darling Husband All to Yourself
Mrs. Jing looked at Mr. Jing’s pretentious demeanor and sneered, "Stop pretending. If it weren’t to keep you from being suspicious, Jihan wouldn’t have bothered to do the paternity test and leave the delivery address of the Jing Family’s old residence. It was all to reassure you. Anyway, I don’t need to see this thing. Mianmian and Jihan looked so alike when they were kids. They’d have to be biological children."
Mr. Jing hummed along, "When was I ever suspicious? It’s just that I’m getting old and can’t remember what Jihan looked like as a child. If I could remember clearly, I would have recognized Mianmian two years ago. Would I need a meddling old woman like you to intervene, and now run to boast in front of me?"
"Exactly, you’re almost half a foot in the grave. It’s normal for your memory to go bad. If you get dementia one day and drag someone off the street calling them your wife or daughter-in-law, I wouldn’t be surprised," Mrs. Jing sneered.
Mr. Jing rolled his eyes at her, "You’re the one with dementia. When you insisted on divorcing twenty years ago, that was dementia!"
Mrs. Jing coldly snorted, "That was the wisest decision I’ve ever made!"
"Pfft, I bet you regretted it a long time ago, feeling particularly lonely on your own in Singapore. But as for me, I’m not lonely at all. I sing songs, watch my grandchildren, play chess, and walk my birds. My life is way more fulfilling than yours. I guess at night, you’re hiding abroad, wiping your tears, and now you’re homesick, using our great-granddaughter as a reason to come back." Mr. Jing was smug.
Mrs. Jing’s face immediately darkened, and she rose expressionlessly, heading outside without looking back.
Mr. Li on the side couldn’t listen anymore, frequently giving Mr. Jing signals to say less. How come, back when he was young, he didn’t give way to his wife because of his competitive spirit? It’s been twenty years since they last saw each other, yet even though he’s old now, he still has the same temper, insisting on starting a fierce argument whenever they meet.
As soon as Mrs. Jing left, Mr. Jing turned his gaze to Mr. Li. Upon receiving Mr. Li’s eye signals, he didn’t speak but secretly peeked in the direction Mrs. Jing left. Seeing that she just returned to her room rather than leaving the Jing Family, he withdrew his gaze and cheerfully lowered his head, talking to Mianmian.
Mianmian stretched her head over to see the paternity test document in his hand, "Great-grandpa, what’s this?"
"This is a wonderful thing that proves you and your daddy are biologically related," laughed Mr. Jing as he set the document aside, then kindly stroked Mianmian’s little head and said, "Mianmian, from now on, no one can say you don’t have a father! You have a mother, a dad, grandparents, and great-grandparents. You’re our little treasure."
Mianmian had never realized she had so many relatives. She tilted her head and asked, "Then what about Mommy? Is Mommy everyone’s treasure too?"
"Ah, well..." Mr. Jing suddenly coughed, "Your mommy is just your daddy’s treasure, and that’s enough. But she’s also my granddaughter-in-law and the wife of the Jing Family. I shouldn’t have been so rash initially; I should have handled things more gently. That was indeed my mistake. I will certainly make amends and welcome you all openly back to the Jing Family."
Mianmian only partly understood, but she could tell that Great-grandpa meant well and seemed very kind towards Mommy, so she nodded, "Okay, then Mommy and I are both little treasures!"
-
Shi Su had no idea Mianmian was busy staking her claim as a "little treasure." She had slept until after nine in the morning, still curled in Jing Jihan’s arms, half-awake.
It had snowed all night yesterday, but the snow melted quickly after dawn, and the weather cleared up early.
Jing Jihan had already woken up earlier because there was an urgent project proposal from the company that needed his attention. He quickly freshened up and returned to bed to hold her. Seeing she was awake, he kissed her forehead and said, "If you want to sleep, go ahead and sleep. If not, get up and wash, maybe go for a walk, and I’ll go to the study to attend a video conference."
"Mm..." Shi Su nestled in his arms, still feeling languid and not moving until the man got up and left the bed. She stretched lazily, remaining comfortably wrapped in the blanket without rushing to get up.
The feeling of lazily sleeping in at the Jing Family’s house was much more comfortable than at her own home. It felt completely different—a rare tranquility combined with the lazy indulgence as if it was mischievously stolen, offering a slight thrill and satisfaction.
The weather outside was unbelievably good. Shi Su rolled over in the blanket, reached for her phone on the bed’s edge, then rolled back to the middle, lying down as she looked at last night’s Weibo. Jing Sixue’s account had mysteriously deactivated overnight. Last night, all her posts were wiped clean, and now her account was gone.
It’s unclear whether she deactivated it herself or if it got shut down.
But regardless, no one was paying attention to the little squirrel like Jing That Follows without evidence or stance. Meanwhile, the "Rainfall CP" topic was steadily top of the CP ranking. Jing Jihan only registered his Weibo account last night, and by this morning, he had accumulated over two hundred thousand followers. This happened overnight... Even the most popular A-list celebrities don’t gain followers this fast, and Jing Jihan isn’t even in the entertainment industry—he has only posted one silhouette photo.
Marketing accounts capitalized on this buzz, searching all night for information on Jing Jihan. Yet, apart from a brief Wikipedia entry, they found nothing.
Fans flocked to Shi Su’s Weibo, pleading for her not to keep her affectionate husband all to herself, asking her to share a photo or a couple’s picture so everyone could share in swooning over the CEO couple’s looks.
Shi Su isn’t someone who enjoys sharing her personal life on social media, but it seems all of Jing Jihan’s intentions originate from her. From anyone’s perspective, it’s clear how much he protects her, evident from the official Yu Jing Group’s Weibo statement to his personal account...
After reading through some comments, she suddenly peeked into the study room, where she saw the man in a video conference, looking just as strictly dignified and distant as he usually did in the company. The executives on the other end were all on high alert, and even though it wasn’t Mr. Jing actually in the company, still, no one dared act out.
Shi Su stood in front of the study room, secretly snapping a picture of Jing Jihan working inside and, with an instinctive sense of caution, looked his way. She quickly lifted her phone to show him and mouthed quietly, "Can I post this on Weibo?"
