365 Days To Love-Chapter 122 - ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-TWO: Grandpa is a suspect.
"Hi"Zaiden nervously uttered the moment Hazel squirmed in her sleep,before peeling her eyes open to close it against the light in the room.
He has stayed up all night just watching her sleep,sleep was far away from his mind after yesterday’s events kept replaying in his mind without any attempt to stop.
She nearly died for him.
Why would she do that?
He’s no hero, and has been her worst nightmare if not for the fact that he changed his mind recently toward her,but that didn’t count for the fact that she risked her life for him.
What if she hasn’t pushed him,would the perpetrator kill him? Or was it just to scare him?
He knew it was Nathan,it was definitely him who would attempt something like this. He had gone into deep thinking yesterday night that no matter how he tried to deny that it wasn’t Nathan,all suspicion still led to him.
Okay let’s say it wasn’t him,he knew that there was no way if the suspect was the same person who killed the guard,would want to kill him when he had gone ahead to claim that his next victim was Hazel.
Even when she had pushed him aside,the suspect didn’t do anything to her but had run away the moment he saw it was Hazel instead of him.
So all suspicion was still on his cousin brother,what’s left right now was the proof which Andrew was going to get.
His grandpa has said nothing after seeing how heartbroken he was,he was utterly speechless when he had told him it was Nathan,he saw the doubt in his Grandpa’s eyes,as if he couldn’t believe that Nathan could do something like this.
Luckily,he wasn’t at home yesterday which had been his grandpa’s point that he was taking things extreme,his dad was the only one who was willing to listen yesterday except for the fact that he had him shut up yesterday.
But he’s not going to shut him up today,once Andrew gets the footage of the Streets cctv,it’s over for whosoever did this to Hazel.
Brother or not, regardless, he attempted murder he’s going to jail for what he did.
"Where am I?’’Hazel asked, scanning her eyes in the room as if this wasn’t where she was staying for the past few weeks."I don’t feel good"She whined,as her hand moved over to her skull to feel something wrapped around it.
"You don’t remember?’’Zaiden asked, watching her concernedly, maybe she could recall what happened yesterday and maybe tell him if he saw the face of whoever tried to run them over.
"What’s wrong? Remember what?"Hazel asked further,raising her other hand to see it was attached to an IV, attempting to sit up,the pain spread to her spine.
"Careful you are still healing"Zaiden cautioned,moving over to help her sit straight on the bed with him at her sides. He didn’t know how to break the news to her because it seems she has a slight memory loss as a result of hitting her head on the ground.
"We had an accident yesterday while coming.." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Yeah i can see"Hazel uttered as if she could tell immediately that he was about to lie to her.
Then she clutched her head when she felt immense pain,she cried as he rushed over immediately.
"I..i"she tried talking but it wasn’t possible,before she screamed..
"I’m sorry,I’m really sorry"she barely heard Zaiden apologizing, before yesterday’s event came flashing through her eyes.
"Holy Moses! What’s wrong?"The door was swung open by Avery, followed behind by his dad and grandpa.
"Where’s he?’’Zaiden yelled as he hugged Hazel, patting her back as she cried on his shoulder,while saying sweet words to her to calm her raging nerves.
Doctor Ken came in immediately putting on his spectacles while taking out his touch.
"What exactly happened?"He asked, as Zaiden helped place Hazel back on the bed,moving away for doctor Ken to do his job.
"I don’t know exactly,s...she woked ..up asking where she was,the next moment she ..she was.. screaming"Zaiden found it hard explaining as his mother hugged him,he looked away from the injection that doctor Ken got ready for Hazel.
"She will be fine son"His mother assured him,watching as Doctor Ken injected the substance into Hazel’s arm,it took a while for the medication to take effect before she finally closed her eyes,asleep.
"What exactly is the problem?’’Grandpa spoke up,glaring at his grandson who was behaving like some child whose precious toy was snatched away from him.
He was acting all stupid because of what happened to Hazel,when it’s quite obvious the young woman was alive,she just needed treatments,that’s all.
Like Zaiden had told him last night,he couldn’t sleep a wink last night,he couldn’t sleep not when his house was on fire.
His two grandsons were about to kill each other because of a woman,was it a bad idea getting Zaiden married to Hazel while knowing that Nathan is in love with her too?
No!
He can’t change his mind simply because his foolish grandson was converting something that wasn’t his,this time,he has to know that things don’t exactly go the way he wants them to be.
"She went into shock, likely as a result of her remembering yesterday’s event,but she will be fine once she wakes up"Doctor Ken explained, closing his suitcase.
"And if she isn’t?’’Zaiden asked out of the blues as everyone glared at him"What if she isn’t the same? She woke up up without any memory of where she was,I don’t know if she even knew who i was"
"Zaiden!"His dad and mother called at once,looking at him with their eyes to tell him to calm down,but who were they kidding? They knew him too well to know that he doesn’t listen to anyone,when he’s pissed off.
Doctor Ken smiled at Zaiden,he’s been the family doctor for years and knew him too well, seeing Zaiden’s being over concerned about his fiancee was cute but he had to trust him on this that she will be okay once she wakes up.
"She will be fine, I assure you,get her to take her drugs once she wakes up,and remember to keep her nutrition healthy and steady"Doctor Ken said over to Avery who nodded before he left the family and their precious daughter in-law.
"Where’s Nathan?"Grandpa asked suddenly as Zaiden’s eyes turned red at the mention of his name.
"He’s not at home,"Avery said,when she remembered bumping into Elijah in the hallway only to see him, yelling at a guard to search for Nathan wherever he is and get him home.
"Let me know when he’s back"Grandpa told Ezekiel, turning to leave but was stopped by Zaiden’s next words.
"What are you going to do?send him to the cop’s, because he’s a criminal"Zaiden pressed further and heard his mother gasping at his declaration.
"What’s gotten over you?"Ezekiel chipped in, glaring at him to stop it before he got his grandpa angrier than he already was.
It was hard for the old man,to digest what he just found out and his son was adding more to the fuel by questioning his decision.
"Sweetheart stop it already"His mother went up to him,maybe he may listen to her,but he surprised her by moving away from her soothing touch, knowing fully well what she was about to do.
"No,let me speak!"He continued, looking away from his mother’s face towards his grandpa who kept a mean face as if it was not his business if Hazel lived or died.
He’s getting suspicious of his grandpa,he always seems relaxed whenever an issue concerning his uncle and family were brought up,he’s always not bothered which made him angry.
Why does he act calm whenever an issue concerning them is brought up,was he keeping something from him?
If truly,Nathan had killed Hazel would he still keep on his calm composure?.
"What exactly do you want?’’Grandpa asked, turning to face him directly,his grandson was getting nosy and he knew it wouldn’t be long before he found out too.
How would he take it?
Well,he wouldn’t be surprised because Nathan doesn’t behave like someone who has the full fledged blood of the Knights running in his system.
He has no evidence yet,that it was Nathan that nearly ran him over even when everything still pointed at him, so what exactly does he want?
"I want to know what exactly you are keeping from me,"Zaiden boldly declared.
"Zaiden Knights!"Ezekiel yelled when he figured out where this conversation was heading to.
It’s of no use telling him right now that Nathan was an illegitimate son,not when he’s angry at him.
"Something like what?"Grandpa asked,raising his hands at Ezekiel to silence him while moving his eyes back to Zaiden.
"Do you have something to do with this? Hazel trusted..."
"Zaiden stop! For crying out loud, that’s your grandpa you are talking to,"Avery cried.
"I don’t care who the fuck he is,not when she’s lying down there,not knowing who the hell wants her gone"
"So you think i am the one who did this?"Old man Williams asked,not believing Zaiden at all,why would he hurt the girl he had welcomed warmly into his household.
"Who knows? You see less concerned about this whole incident"
"You need to grow up"Grandpa said lastly before leaving him,Avery spoil him too much.
"This conversation is not over"Ezekiel pointed at him before leaving for his dad,Avery followed suit,hurt in her eyes at what her son had done.
He’s changed.
He’s losing his mind because of some woman.
Turning to look at the unconscious Hazel who was sleeping, oblivious to the fight he just had with his grandpa because of her,he sat down beside her stroking her cheeks.
His phone chimed, as he recalled he sent Andrew on an errand,taking his iphone out to read the text message,which added more to his suspicion that someone here in the family was deriving satisfaction seeing him like this.
Someone altered the cctv.
