Chapter 118: Chapter ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN:No One Messes With What Belongs To Him!

"How’s she?"Avery was the first to ask, immediately after the family doctor was done with his treatment on Hazel.

Turning to look at Zaiden who was no longer in the room ,she knew the guilt and regret was killing him, which was not his fault no matter how many times she tried rectifying him on that.

"She just needs the rest, luckily there wasn’t any internal bleeding from the force of her hitting her head on the floor, she will be fine tomorrow morning assuredly, her medicine are by the bedside to take occasionally"Doctor Ken said, smiling to assure the worried woman about the lady who was was asleep taking in an IV.

"Okay,thanks a lot,you are such a lifesaver"Avery commended,as he took his suitcase.

"That’s my job, have a good night’s rest, call if there’s any problem"he said, bowed before Avery and left her and her Daughter-in-law.

Avery went up to where Hazel was unconscious, she felt pity for the poor girl, ever since she joined the family it has been one drama after another.

Zaiden had refused to open up and tell her exactly what really happened,he still was still finding it hard to believe too.

"I’m so sorry cupcake,so sorry"She apologized, stroking her face lightly as she held in the tears that were about to fall.

What’s wrong with you Avery, she’s not dead?

She questioned herself over what she was trying to do,yeah, she wasn’t dead but after seeing Zaiden carry her in made her feel something.

She loved Hazel, like a real mother loves her child.

Was it because she wasn’t able to bear a female child, that made her feel attached to this lady sleeping,no,it was definitely not about it.

Hazel was a lot more and it was hard to explain what she really felt towards the girl, but whatever it is,she knew that she didn’t want to see her hurt, she didn’t want her to cry just like she did earlier when she was asked about her parents.

Avery couldn’t pinpoint the reason as to why a mother would abandon her child, especially a child like Hazel, when she wanted a daughter.

No matter how hard it may have seemed for her parents, abandoning their child wasn’t the best option, because no matter what extent they try to redeem their soul for what they did.

It can never change the fact that they hurt an innocent child. She took a last look at Hazel and covered her with the sheets before leaving her room, turning to the guard that was placed outside her door for protection.

"Make sure nothing happens to her"She said lastly and left insearch of Zaiden,he was going through a lot right now she could feel it.

"Here you are? Where’s grandpa? She finally saw him, staring at the moonlight in the verandah ,a glass of wine in his hand while sitted down.

"He left a few minutes ago, ’’Zaiden replied, bringing the liquid to his mouth to drown it but his mother took it away from him.

She didn’t like him drinking this late, which was already a warning she gave Ezekiel,it was bad for their health.

"Mom please"He begged,he wanted to get drunk,he needed to forget, today was the worst day of his life that he finally get to realize that he was deeply in love with Hazel more than he could think of.

He didn’t know what he felt the moment he saw her lying down there with the blood on her head,he felt as if some part of him died when the thoughts of her dying crossed his mind.

He didn’t want her to die.

She can’t leave him.

That was the thoughts he had in mind and took her home, cancelling the idea of taking her to the hospital knowing that the reporters were still hot on their tails.

So,taking her to the hospital was going to raise an alarm that finally another murder happened in the family.

Someone wanted him dead, not Hazel but him.

The threat has been on Hazel’s head,so it doesn’t make sense if the murderer was the one that wanted to run him over.

It was Someone else, someone else who didn’t want him alive for the wedding ceremony.

He had told every detail concerning today’s incident to Grandpa which he has strictly forbidden him from telling his mother for reasons unknown to him.

His grandpa went ahead to assure him that he and his dad had everything under control.

He doesn’t have anything under control when his girl was lying unconscious! He didn’t have anything under control when the murderer was still out there planning on when next to attack Hazel.

Why her?

She had nothing or had done anything to offend anyone which he knows nothing of anyway, due to her keeping secrets from him,but she doesn’t look like one who would get anyone angry to the extent of trying to kill her, that’s definitely not his Hazel.

"Are you ready to talk about it?"Avery asked, dropping the glass by her side, objecting to his request to give it back to him.

He hung his head low,as if he was too ashamed to talk about it,it was not him,he has nothing to do with her getting hurt so why does he act this way.

"You know for a starter,I actually thought she was dead mom"

"But she’s not, she’s alive son and you have to stop blaming yourself and talk things out with me,what exactly happened?"Avery insisted, turning his face to look into hers.

The guilt was still there,so much for being so soft hearted like his dad,she had always wished that he was as strong as he looked but he’s not, which made her angry.

"I’ve got things under control mom, you don’t have to worry yourself"He said, smiling to assure her that he was fine, but who was he kidding?

She’s Avery Knights, his mother and she knew he wasn’t fine, but does not mean that it was a good idea telling her that her nephew was a suspect who nearly ran him over with his car.

Knowing who his Mom was,she would stomp angrily into Nathan’s room and strangle him to death with her bare hands, if she knew that it may be him that wanted to kill her son.

"You got things under control, says someone who’s blaming himself for something that has nothing to do with him!’’Avery said, getting angry, she stood up to stand in front of him"Did the old man tell you not to tell me?

Zaiden looked up immediately as she nodded her head, how did she find out?

"Figures’ ’she mumbled to herself.

"Mother I.."He wanted to explain but was cut short.

"Do you think I’m stupid? Like why would you guys want to keep things from me knowing fully well that I’m going to find out later?"She demanded, getting angry at Zaiden and his grandpa, likewise her husband too.

Ever since the murder in the garden, her husband had been acting strange and also avoid her questions whenever it has to do with the happenings around the family house.

"It’s just for precautions,I mean i don’t even want to hide anything, grandpa made me do it saying he and dad have things under control, which i don’t understand myself"Zaiden said, defending himself when it was obvious that his mother would soon burst out.

"What’s going on here?’’Ezekiel’s voice made the two turn to see him walking up to them, his face was not bright anymore,it’s obvious he heard what happened from his dad.

"Dad,"Zaiden called.

"You are back"Avery asked, pretending that she was not angry a few seconds ago.

"Where’s she?"Ezekiel asked,watching his son.

"She’s asleep,mom and I were having a little talk..."

"What exactly is going on? I mean who the hell would try to kill Hazel?"Avery chipped in.

"It’s too late to have have this conversation"Ezekiel said over to Avery,he didn’t want to tell her that it was risky talking about what exactly he and his dad had planned out in the open here, when it was obvious his brother had spies working for him here.

"No it’s not"Avert stubbornly refused"This conversation is not yet over Ezekiel"She said, waking away from the two to check up on Hazel.

"It’s Nathan,I know it’s him dad,"Zaiden said, but his dad shushed him,his eyes looking toward him to give him the signal that they were alone here.

"Stop being a crybaby and fix yourself,we talk tomorrow"Ezekiel said lastly, leaving the young man alone to face his thoughts again.

Zaiden took the glass sitting where his mother was earlier and threw it on the floor as it shattered.

It was Nathan.

No matter how hard, his mind tries denying the fact that it may likely be someone else,he couldn’t forget so soon that Nathan was the only person who would be glad if he died,so that he would have Hazel for himself.

Since no one was willing to believe him,he will have to find out for himself.

He will do it for Hazel, and once he finds out who the bastard is, he’s going to kill him with his hands.

Definitely.

No one messes with what belongs to him and goes scot free, not even Nathan, brother or not!

Taking his phone out from his pants which he got earlier, from his room,he dialed Andrew’s number.

"Sir?"

"I need you to do something for me?"
